BMI Rock Showcase
12th & Porter - Nashville, TN

Stark White Stork Approaching ->
Me & the Skirts
Action
Look Out Below
The Damage is Done
God Save Rock'n'Roll

I arrived in time to see Spindle and Lume, then, of course, the Features. Very large crowd, especially for a Monday night. I had a front row seat in the Roger Dabbs zone. It was great to see his playing up so close. His bass playing absolutely blows me away! Great show, albeit short. I can't wait for this weekend...
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Tom Foolery, JamieCarroll, and Keith's official prediction before the set:

God Save Rock and Roll, Me and the Skirts, Exorcising Demons, Buffalo Head, and Leave it all Behind, not necessarily in that order. We went 2/5. Oh well.

It was nice seeing the two of them, Sina, Carligula, Smee, and to finally meet the mysterious Lauren.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

It was great to see so many friendly faces last night. I, too, enjoyed meeting Lauren. (By the way, we're glad you came to your senses and moved back.)

I liked the new clapping part at the end of "Stark White Stork Approaching." It adds a nice, little touch that I think the song needed.

The little mini-sets that they've been doing lately (opening on the tour, the BMI showcase, etc.) have been nice, but I'm anxious to hear them do a full-blown, twenty-song set again.

It was lovely to see everyone last night- Features shows are always more fun when you're surrounded by other fanatics. I was sorry to have to rush off afterwards, but my day started at 6 am today. I'm glad Keith believes in me now & yes, TF, it is really nice to be back "home". I always say this, but I was so glad to hear Action. I know there was at least one virgin who became a convert last night- right, carligula?

Yes, no-longer-quite-so-mysterious-Lauren, there was at least one Features virgin there last night and she absolutely LOVED it. I'm trying to talk her into coming Saturday night if she can get out of work on time. I'll be there either way, though.

Am I still alone in saying that I don't think "Action" is one of their better songs? Give me "Bring on the Night" or "Someway, Somehow" any day of the week. Me and the Skirts is also sounding better and better every time.

I was at the show I just hadn't posted it on the board, I was in right in front of the stage, by Parrish. I know i blocked a few peoples view, but my friend was like "so what , the guy has a mullet, he knows nothing about the features" LOL Was it just me or was Parrish's sound low? I didn't hear him playing hardly at all during Stark white storch approaching...? I dunno, anyway, I enjoyed the show An I can't wait til the show Saturday.

I love "action", but one song that i would really like to hear live again is "burma". i havent heard it played live since the infamous may 5th show. perhaps when i go to the show in chattanooga on the 15th, I may have to shout out my request. i love that song, it's definitely in my top ten favorite features songs...

Amen, Ray. I also love "Burma." It's all I shout for any more. OK, well, that and "Like a Virgin." Attention Features: please play "Burma" Saturday night.

short, sweet, solid. as expected. I always miss circus when it gets left off.

How about spindle?!? I've never been so close to a true rock star before. I wish it was me he was pointing to while caressing his chest. Keith is just lucky, I guess. Their domination of the southeast got off to a slow start, but it was pretty funny.

ohhh that guy from Spindle cracked me up. I was waiting for him to bust out of those jeans when he did the high kicks.

Anyways, I was next to genius girl during the features. I was kinda close to Parrish I think. It was a good show, but left me wanting more than the 6 songs they played. Thank god Saturday isn't too far away.

I must also say that it felt great getting into 12th and Porter without being carded or having a guardian along with me. blink.gif

Wait a minute! I was carded and I'm 25. I got there during Ingram Hill. Were they not carding before that?

Amen, TF, even though I won't be able to hear it. It's been really interesting checking these sets and I can't wait to see what their full set een looks like after all of these mini sets. Take this setlist for example: alot of surprises... SWSA and Action in the set, no Buffalo Head, inclusion of the band's two newest songs, lack of much Beginning EP material.

Should be interesting.

Well I didn't get carded at all. I got there at the very beginning and had no problem at all. Nobody was at the door carding or anything.

I also saw Ours there over the weekend and pretended a 40 yr old with us was my mother and it was fine. I don't know if they always do that, but I was rather shocked. I say it would be worth trying to bring a guardian or parent along.

I was let into 12th and P twice before turning 21 because I was with someone whose parents were also there.
