What a magical, magical night. I am not ashamed to say that I got a little misty-eyed several times during this set, especially during "Your Smile," "Anti-Gravity...," and "Don't Lie to Me." What a great thing it is to love a band that loves you back like this. I wish all of ya'll could've been there, but I can assure you, the show was recorded by multiple people, so hopefully you'll be hearing it soon.

Some of the songs (understandably) showed their "rust" ("Burma," "Anti-Gravity...," "Extension Cord"). But some of them sounded like the Features play them every show ("Paid to Think," "The Damage is Done," "Your Smile," "Serious," "Jurley," "Don't Lie..."). Perhaps we can hope and pray that some of these make it back into The Rotation, but even if we never hear any of them again, it was amazing. Thank you, Features!

P.S. The new song was awesome, albeit very "outside the box" for a Features song. I can't wait to hear this one develop.

I will second everthing you said about loving a band that loves you back. No one will ever be able to say the features don't care about their fans.

It was truley an awesome experience to hear songs in person that were in rotation before I became a fan. Burma could possibly be on of my favorite songs of all time. The new song was awesome as well, heck, the whole thing was just incredible!!!

By the way, it was very nice to officially meet digsy, ghostflower, deathsychthe, havesomesoma, paulfreaksmeout, and I think Lauren. (sorry if i left a few people out, it was kinda overwhelming)

This was, quite possibly, my favorite show to date. I am officially a fan of "Your Smile" after hearing it live. And watching Matt sing "Jurley" was also a treat, since he was obviously embarrassed about the lyrics (rightfully so). I heard Rollum say to Matt "Just play it, you have to get it over with" regarding "Your Smile," "Jurley," and "Anti-Gravity." Hilarious. I really, really was not expecting to hear "Your Smile" and "Extension Chord." This just shows how great a band the Features are.

I also liked how they basically played the top 20 or so instead of just the top 15. That was totally unexpected and caused quite a few spaz-out moments (like for "Stagecoach" and "Moonlight"). I liked how after Matt said "We let the songs be chosen by the messageboard," we all gave ourselves a round of applause. Heh...and lastly, the overwhelming wave of adoration and applause that washed onto stage as they opened with "Paid to Think." I don't think I've ever heard that much applause at the beginning of a Features song before.

highlight of the night: everything. i can't believe how well they pulled off some of those ancient songs with such a short time to practice. "antigravity" was beautiful, and i really do thank all of you who voted for it when you normally wouldn't have. the remainders of my debts shall be paid tonight. i honestly can't think of a single complaint. the band definitely went above a beyond to make its fans as happy as possible. i mean, who plays a four-song encore for a group of fans who just got to pick the setlist?! the most generous band in the world, apparently. i wasn't expecting an encore at all. but it did make me chuckle that they just got through playing a setlist of songs they hadn't thought about in years, but they messed up on circus. this show will be hard to top. can't wait for tonight.

I love The Features. Sorry, just had to get that out there. This show did make me have to ask a couple questions though- Why the hell aren't they regularly play The Damage Is Done and Don't Lie To Me? I must admit I had completely forgotten about the latter (yes, I know it comes up on the message board a lot, but I had forgotten how the song went) and it is so damn good. And The Damage Is Done is just so "Features" I don't understand why they hate the song so much.

This show also answered a few questions, namely why they don't play crap like Jurley anymore. Yeah, I said it. Anyway, I had a great time, even though I had to leave a little early (during Circus). I'm disappointed I missed the new song, but otherwise I got what I came to see. Thanks Features for giving us hardcore fans such a great treat.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

The show was really good. I was unsure whether I was going to tonight's show since I have quite a bit of studying to do this weekend and whatnot, but after last night, I'm sure I'm going to be there tonight.

I think it's really awesome of the band to put in all the work for that show. I was torn after the set as to how to show my appreciation. Part of me wanted to clap and yell to let them know they were great, but the other half of me wanted to let them go home and all since they obviously put a lot of effort into getting this shit together.

The entire set, my fear of them not playing extension chord grew and grew. By halfway through the set, I was sure they weren't going to play it. Then, when matt announced that they were sorry for not getting to some of the older songs, my heart slightly sunk... but THEY FUCKING PLAYED IT! it was so goddamn awesome. those guys are awesome.

The new song sounds great, I really enjoyed it. It was great hearing all the songs I'd only heard on recording and the stuff I'd never heard before. I loved it.

The opener was pretty enjoyable, at least at the beginning. I really enjoyed the lead guitar, though.

Burma could possibly be one of my favorite songs of all time.
And I'll second that.

And it was very nice to meet you, as well, Joey.

The opening band was The Paper Lions. They are on Kindercore, but I don't think it was a great match, I just found myself waiting for them to finish their set. Maybe it will afford The Features a nice tradeout show though...

Everything was so great last night - even that drunk girl who kept "petting" me and everyone around her..lol And I wish they would have done the dance that went with Your Smile.

well,
Everything has been said. Great show. When matt apologized I pretty much figured that Radio One/D-con would be omitted. Which is sad, but it would be terribly hard to pull that one off with all the brass stuff going on in it. I had a blast! $48.51 beer tab ohmy.gif my largest to date.
I want to make it tonight, but no promises.

This show was amazing and I was so happy to hear a few of the songs make it in that weren't in the top 15 (Moonlight, 33 1/3, Serious). Serious and Don't Lie to Me sounded great. The whole set sounded great. I'm amazed that DLTM isn't a regular on the setlists. IF nothing else, it would make a great B side. I was glad to hear a few songs like Burma and Harold that I've only heard from the MP3 site. The problem now is that they've set the bar really high. How could they top this? Maybe with an acoustic set (if that would work?) or an all covers show? Maybe a few surprise gigs here and there? How about an X-Mas 45"? Maybe we can hope for the "fan selected setlist" show to become an annual event!

The show was fabulous. "Paid to Think" as the opener made me very happy. Frankly, I was a little worried about this show because I don't care for such songs as "Your Smile", "Extension Chord", and "Antigravity". However, I was able to enjoy all of them except for "Don't Lie to Me", which I just could not get into.

My favorites were "Damage is Done" (OF COURSE) and "Paid to Think"(OF COURSE). I was pleasantly surprised with "Stagecoach" and "Serious", as well.

I was very happy that they decided to do "Circus" and "Harder to Ignore" along with some other newer standards. The new song was very nice, too. I'm really hoping to hear the less new, new song (with "Don't Lie to Me") tonight. I feel that last night's show served as a starter/appetizer for tonight's show, which I am extremely excited about.

Thank you, Features, for doing such a nice and generous thing for your fans. smile.gif

I just wish I had heard of "Darkroom" before the voting was closed. I probably would've campaigned to get that one played more than Radio One, and considering it's a slightly more recent song it would've been more likely for them to play it. Oh well.

I heard somebody saying that had an excellent bootleg of it, too...I hope yesterday and tonight's shows are both posted online at least temporarily for a little while! I could host it...

Well, I'm sure nobody would have voted for "Darkroom" since it was basically the "let's see what we can force The Features to play"-show, and "Darkroom" is regularly performed at shows. It was on my list along with many others before I discovered they had no chance of being played and changed it all. It's my favorite song, and I feel no show is complete without it. I'm counting on it tonight.

I just have two words to describe that show:

Wow.

Thank you, Features, and thanks to everyone here for helping to put together an incredible set list. It was a very special night, and I'm glad that I was a part of it. I'm not sure, though, that I would want it to be an annual event because I think that would detract from the uniqueness of it. Just hearing all of those songs live one last time was enough for me. Hopefully, though, one of the old songs (and I don't have a strong preference about which one) will creep back into regular rotation.

I was just listening to a recording of this show, and I think Rollum did a pretty good job of picking up the songs that were written before he joined the band. I know that most of you will disagree with me on this, but I think he's probably a better drummer than Jason Taylor.

Rollum made "Your Smile" amazing, in my opinion...

Was that sarcasm, TF? I think Rollum is clearly a better drummer than Taylor.

I'm now the very greatful owner of a CD of this show. I'm thinking about posting it on something like soulseek for a very limited time, unless someone can present me with a compelling argument why I shouldn't. It just seems so much easier than mailing it around, and it seems like it would be ok since it's not current songs/ possible album tracks. Whaddya think?

P.S. I didn't know until this listen that Rollum was the reason behind this gift to us- Thank you!!

Thanks to JC for the show!!! I am willing to share the love and extend the offer he originally put out there. I dunno if 5 more people are in need of the 1st show (old songs) but I'll mail out copies to the next 5 people who PM me their address.

Ditto, if people don't want to soulseek

Oh yeah- thanks also to those who provided great crowd backups on songs.

I completely agree. It adds a whole lot.

I don't think you should put it on soulseek, but that's just me.
