I think it's a headlining show for the Features....no Kings of Leon....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From the concert section:

New Date added! This will be a headlining gig!

Mon 07/11/05 - London, UK / Lock 17 (formerly Dingwalls)

I'm sorry if the post was confusing. The Kings of Leon will NOT be playing that gig. I've changed the wording to make that more clear.

It's a bit small for KoL!

I'll be there, and I'll be taking a dozen new converts too. cool.gif

I could be wrong, but according to the venue's website it doesn't sound like they are very relaxed...
"THIS EVENT IS FOR OVER 18'S ONLY
NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED FOR UNDER 18's"
doesn't sound like they are very sympathetic, but you can always try! I used to get into 21+ clubs when I was 13 because I went with my brother.

Venue policies are pretty much always 18+, but come on, everyone goes to gigs from 14+

I wouldn't worry about it, she'll get in. It's not like you get asked for ID over here.

Lock 17 is formerly the Dingwalls. It's a nice venue, reasonably big, say 600? About as big as The Garage with a raised platform at the back, from what I remember.

Just brilliant, as always.

The Features played quite a few new songs last night. The usual, and then one where Matt clapped through the verses, and another called The Gates of Hell.

No Darkroom or Kari-Anne, alas. I did ask Roger for Speed of 33 1/3 by writing the message on my boyfriend's phone. He tried to persuade the band, but they weren't having it. And once again, 'The Idea of Growing Old' seemed to be the big hit of the night. It really is one of my least favourites, yet the kids seem to go nuts for it.

There was a moment during 'The Way it's Meant to Be' when Matt decided not to sing the title, and the crowd did it for him. Parrish looked at Matt like 'did you really have the nerve to do that?!'.

I'm liking Roger's non-beard, and Matt's transformation into Jarvis Cocker is more and more apparent every time I see them. No more tank tops, but lovely skinny fit orange shirts with the word 'padres' emblazoned - it really reminded me of the yellow bull shirt that Jarvis wore a lot in the last days of pulp.

Anyway, I digress. Brilliant show. Apparently they won't be back over here until next year now, as they're recording the new album over Autumn.

You're such a fangirl!!

I have joined this board simply to request that no one in the world EVER goes and sees Louie, who were the support act last night.

If you like The Libertines, they are a bad Libertines and you'll want to punch them for being rubbish, and having two singers who don't play instruments and jump around like petulant kids.

If, like me, you have the opinion that The Libertines are/ were quite possibly the worst band on Earth, you'll want to set fire to them for mining that same seam of tunless dim-witted pap.

What is it with The Features and bad support acts? The Rocks were quite good last year, but M.A.S.S., Exist and whatever other nonsense I've seen with them have just been terrible.

And The Idea Of Growing Old is rubbish. They should've played 33 1/3 instead- I wish they would.

I have wondered whether The Features have been responsible for their support bands so far, or whether it's just left up to the venue to choose them.

Louie (ie the 12-year-olds shouting fuck a lot) were fun for one song. One of them had cute hair.

I hope they do.

The band's manager asked for a CD of my band's music and we gave it to him last night...with any luck we'll get some recognition on the next tour.

Hmmmm..have to agree about Louie, i think the two singers must have forgotten to take their A.D.D. medication.

The Features were brilliant though, this is the 3rd time i've seen them now (twice with KOL) and was really great seeing them in a smaller venue. Feeling quite gutted they won't be back till next year though!

I never saw the KoL shows, only their own ones, and it is good seeing them in small venues. I'm wondering if it won't be long before they're doing their own Kings-size (geddit?) dates...

For what it's worth: I'm assuming that's a shirt for our Major League Baseball team from San Diego, California. I'm willing to bet that was a thrift store find.

Great gig. I think the idea of growing old is a great song. Leave it all behind was the highlight for me. Could anyone post the setlist please?

From the looks of those pics, it's definitely a San Diego Padres shirt. Or perhaps a cheap little league jersey based on the the logo of the real Padres.

Matt is a Padre, you know?

Where abouts in the crowd were you?

yes, it was an incredible show! we flew into manchester last thursday, and we were lucky enough to be able to drive to bridlington and see them with kol on sunday night and then see them on monday night in camden town......never ran into the person who yelled the f word the whole night, but i do know that was one of the best crowds i've ever seen....knowing the words to all the songs, jumping up and down, truly appreciating every bit of the show....did our hearts good.....coming all the way from atlanta, georgia, and seeing that crowd response was one the best parts of the trip

we missed the first 2 opening bands.....due to a 1 1/2 hour bus ride that should have taken 20 minutes......but one person in the crowd said we missed a great show....one person at the bar said we should be thankful we weren't exposed to it.....sounds like it would have been interesting either way...

i do want to say how impressed we were at the uk crowds.....at the bridlington show, they were so enthusiastic.....seeing 2-3,000 people jumping up and down in unison, singing along with every single kol song played - and i really do mean that - it's one of the coolest things i've ever seen....you could tell that some of the people in bridlington didn't know much about the features, but they really seemed to like the show.....everyone we talked to said they loved the band and loved the music and would be buying the cd.....

the features, as always, make us proud to know their music......

if you're facing the stage, we would have been next to the right side of the stage......again, incredible show.....absolutely incredible....but i have to say the bridlington show was pretty darn good as well......they were opening up for kol, but they came out and did it right.....i think i enjoy seeing them in much smaller places....you can really get right in there and see what's going on....but they tore it up at bridlington - seeing them 2 nights in a row in 2 completely different places gives an interesting perspective.....

i'm trying to think of shows i've seen in the US where the crowd got into the show as much as what i saw in the UK....and i'm embarrassed to say i can't think of many.....green day usually gets a pretty big response......saw a band we like called the wildhearts in new york, and the crowd was all over it....i think i'm a bit jealous at how much the UK crowds really LOVE bands.....like they have this completely devotion to a group.....they know all the words, they all sing along....just makes for a very good atmosphere......very impressive......

I keep trying to imagine how cool it would be to experience this. I mean, many of us in the Nashville/Murfreesboro area have been to dozens (if not more) of Features shows over the years. To all of a sudden hear them being adored to the extent you describe by thousands of relatively new fans would be pretty surreal. And awesome.

Hey Louise, you'd have been near my friend (the blonde girl with the green top on)...

I was right in front of Roger, leaning back against the pillar so I didn't block anyone's view (I'm over 6ft, and it's nice to be near the front and not feel bad about restricting people's vision). My girlfriend slipped on a spilt drink before the show, and I'm pretty sure everyone noticed that.

Angust, was that you requesting 33 1/3?

And Token, I'll swap with ya! You have regular De Novo Dahl gigs, and we haven't had any! (I'm still waiting to hear Girls & Boys too)

Nah, I'll just wait 'til the boys come back home to play to the somewhat less enthusiastic but ever so loving home crowd.

Come visit Nashville next week. Then you can catch this show:

Didn't write my review sooner, because unfortunately I was struck down with tonsilitis straight after the gig sad.gif
I was collecting some emails inside the venue with my mate, even though there was another street team outside too. I thought the set was fantastic, really energetic and light hearted. My highlight was probably exhibit A or possibly there's a million ways. I was very tempted to do some serious dancing that could have lead to me being commited.
As a result of this gig, I've decided that Rollum is one of the best drummers I've seen live. He is so imaginative and yet completely accurate, and so energetic. Well impressed. Can't wait to see them again.

no, that wasn't me requesting 33 1/3.....but i think i remember seeing a very tall person there......didn't see the girl slip in the spilt drink, though......i just yelled a lot after each and every song....and during some songs as well....i really love the new song, "gates of hell".....the middle part....where they go into the "instigator....alligator" part....forgive me, i can't remember all the words.....only the 2nd time i've heard it....i absolutely love that part.....

trying to think if there was anything missing from the set that i would like to have heard......"dark room" would have been good......"serious" would have been nice to hear....i've never heard them play that one live.....i still feel like a new gal on the features circuit....we've seen them 7 times, and some of you have seen them too many times to count.....i'd be curious to know how the band/music has changed over the years.....

as far as crowd response, seeing them in nashville comes pretty darn close to the UK....there is no doubt that they are loved and adored in nash vegas.....the time at the exit inn where the amp blew and the band kept playing and the crowd sang along to the songs.....hard to top that.......
