Wow, what a fun show! I got there just in time to see all of De Novo Dahl. Those guys just continue to blow my mind; they were so incredibly good. I think that they won a lot of new fans tonight. And then the Features...were off the hook! They played such a charismatic, high-energy set. I loved "Exhibit A" - it's a rocker, and definitely "sounds like the Features," but for some reason the lyrics and vocal delivery kind of reminded me of Bringing it all Back Home/Highway 61-era Dylan. And "Situation Gone Bad" continues to get better. I can't say thank you enough times to the Features for playing "Harold," even though they didn't seem to be too confidant about it. I can't wait until next Friday.

very good show. it was so good to see some friends and meet some good people. it's been a while since i've seen the features, so i savored every minute of it. as always, it was so nice to hear harold. first time seeing de nova dahl (save the stripped down wilco opening slot this summer) and i was very impressed. six very talented, pretty people. it's good to be home!

I, of course, wasn't at the 21+ show but I have to express how cool it is that they played "Harold" "for all the graduates." That's just so nice and cool. Sounds like a great show. Now if we can just get a Christmas song for next Friday, it will be doubly awesome....

Man I wish I didn't have to bail. I'll take that as directed somewhat at me though. It was good to see some of you, albeit for about 5 seconds. Thelawnwrangler, I hope I can see you again before you go back to Johnson City. Errr, I wish I saw the show.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Yes, definitely one of the better Features sets I've seen in awhile. I was soooooo happy about the return of Someway, Somehow. Apparently Parrish has been having issues with his part on that song, but it sounded spectacular last night. I'm also thrilled that I finally got to hear Harold live. I just wonder why they don't play it more often.

I'll agree that De Novo Dahl was great last night and I'd also like to add that Forget Cassettes continue to blow my mind in so many ways. I really love the music these two manage to create on stage. I was bowled over by the positive reaction they got because 1) any act that opens for the Features generally has a tough crowd and 2) they are markedly different from the Features. I'm curious if it was the die-hard Features fans that were clapping, or if they just happened to have a great deal of fans there to see them. I consider myself both. I'm not sure how I feel about an opening act doing an encore but I'll gladly take anything I can get from this band.

It was good getting to see the mysterious Lauren again and I wanted to once again congratulate her and Ben and Keith (even though the lame-o didn't show) and anyone else who graduated yesterday. Also, thanks to sina for making it an especially fun show. It's always good to see a lot of action up front-- especially if it's done in such a way as to not piss anyone off.

The show last night was one of the best shows i've seen.
The Features break my heart at how good they are.

the two openers were fun too. Much energy...

now see...and let's talk about all the board people who were around ...hangin in every crevice. Nice meeting everyone...i guess, cause i didn't know who anyone was. And my girl, sina...

nu uh...

anyway...i hope ya'll enjoyed our encore of "Malibu"

I showed, unfortunately I just had to leave shortly after I got there. Boyfriend duties.

I really wish I got to see the shows (Sina's show and the rock show).

i think it was very distasteful of forget cassettes to do an encore. i did enjoy them, kinda fun and cute. but c'mon you two, you're the first of three bands and one of those bands is the features; show some gratitude. i think i saw the upper management boys shake some fuckers down for the transgression. those guys are so viscious.

I totally agree. The two of them playing another song (and none of their songs were necessarily short) meant that everything else after them was hurried. Not fair to the Dahl, The Features, who continue to blow me away, or The Features fans. Who would want to do that to some of the most beautiful, classiest fans around?

There was a quite attractive grinder in the front wearing read with some nice black hair. Very entertaining. Congratulations on your graduation, Keith, you're a better man than I.

The dry humping was funny, although a little tasteless especially in the front row during the headlining band. The opening bands were good, although I agree that the encore was unnecessary. The Features were awesome as usual, although I wish they had played a little longer. Seeing a few people I hadn't seen in forever was also very enjoyable, no although that I can think of. Kudos to the graduates.

I did think it was a bit unprecedented that the encore happened, but in all fairness, there were A LOT of fans begging for it. Plus, what's an extra five minutes when the show's gonna end at 1:30pm anyway? I don't think the Features have to worry too much about people leaving early.

Umm, no. Make out at home, make out in your car, make out in the streets, make out at the bar, make out in the bathroom, make out in the balcony, just don't make out in the front row, directly in front of me, at a show I paid 8 dollars to see during the headlining act. It didn't actually even bother me that much, but I thought it was more disrespectful to the band than anything else. I was also bothered by a guy lifting some girl on to the stage during The Features set. I really didn't see the point to that, I can at least see the point to making out.

I felt like the Forget Cassettes encore was unnecessary too, but they should be proud to have gotten such a warm reception. The show was AWESOME- one of the most fun I've been to in a long long time. I was right in front of Matt's amp, so I couldn't hear enough of Parrish, and Matt's early tuning problems stood out. But the band's energy made up for any technical flaws. Many many thanks to the Features for playing our request- it means a lot & just confirms that not only are they the best band in the land, but they're also the most considerate of their fans. I liked the new unnamed song quite a bit. Exorcising Demons was in top form- the best I've heard in many months.

As always, it was a joy to see & meet so many message board people. It was even more of a joy to see so many people completely rocking out- I've decided there's no excuse for standing still at a Features show. I, for one, thought that roadie & sinasugarsick's dance of love was pretty entertaining- I've never seen anyone "couples dance" to the Features, so that was something new. Three cheers for consummating old crushes. It was nice that all of the drunken passion of the crowd was expressed in a loving instead of a violent way this time.

that was wrong!

and...i want to add (and i'm gonna call my girl out right quick...but forgive me..LOL) that i wouldn't say sina and roadie were dancing a "dance Of love" ....that be a dance of raunch...what is up@!@#wjfdslkfjds biggrin.gif

For $8 you get two opening bands, The Features, and a bonus porno dance. That's the deal of the century!

I would like to take this moment to call out Ms. jamiecarroll as a very immature, rude, drunk person who not only ruined the show for myself, but also those around me. He was totally drunk and obnoxious. First, he dumped a gallon of beer on me. Then he used his cigarette to ignite it. Then he peed on me to extinguish the flames. To top it off, he slashed me across the chest with a switchblade. I was bleeding pretty bad, but since I'd been reserving my spot at 12th and Porter since Wednesday, I refused to leave until the end of the show. I lost four pints of blood, but an emergency transfusion saved my life.

Other than this unfortunate incident, I thoroughly enjoyed the show. I'm usually pretty critical of opening acts, but I actually enjoyed Forget Cassettes and DND. The Features' set was wonderfully unique. They brought back a lot of songs from earlier than the year that haven't been played as much (like "Moonlight" and "Someway, Somehow"). Overall, it was a great show.

And, for you youngsters, I noticed a very interesting sign at the entrance to the Playroom at 12&P. It said that you can come in if you're parent/legal guardian stays with you the entire time.

The show was a good one. I must admit i thought Forget Cassettes were pretty impressive. But, I felt like it was a mismatch for the show. It was very powerful and intense and I enjoyed the musicianship. Just not before melodic music. And the guys screaming very loudly for an encore were these guys who were super obnoxious frattish guys right beside me the whole time. They left after their set. I think the encore was a bit uncalled for. I know the brass was hot about it.

De novo dahl continue to impress me greatly with their new material as well as older. Derek was entertaining as always and Joel's monster screams rocked. He screamed so hard his face turned red and I thought it might explode. Carney's mohawk looked skillfully crafted.

I leaned to my friend during the Features set and said, "God...they are so f'ing good." That pretty much sums up the show.

As for the grinder/tonsil inspector. Pretty disrespectful to the band. Pretty rude to those around you. Maybe should take it to the house in the future.

As a member of a band, I think it would be cool to have people making out to my music. As a friend/roommate of the two (that I know about) people that Sina made out with, I think it would have been entertaining to watch. As a fan of the Features, I would have been annoyed by the distraction. I guess it's all moot since I wasn't there for it.

Dude, did De Novo Dahl start doing drugs? They seemed so uptight when I saw them in the spring. At 12&p the drummer thankfully was NOT playing to a headphone click track. That took all the energy out of the performaces I saw before. And the singer was all poofy-haired and screaming. Wow.

jesus, its been far too long since ive been able to post on this board and im just now giving my response to the show. i thought the show was great, of course. this was my first time to see forget cassettes and they totally rocked. the girl was hott and the guy could play drums and keyboard at the same time.

i was of course very pleased to see de novo dahl and the poofy hair and the screaming, it was just grrrrrreat.

so many songs i couldn't sing along to lead me to belive its time for a new features comp. anyone record the show?
i, too, was right in front of matt and it drowned parrish out, but i enjoyed it all the same. i was especially pleased at the graduate dedication. is animal a new asset of the show? this is the first time ive seen animal playing along with mr. rollum.
the features are so good it hurts.

i was a bit surprised by the hott girl making out with roadie and it didn't bother me until i got knocked out of the wayin the front row. ive been one to make out at shows before, a perfect circle and stone temple pilots to name a few. but the features? as much as i like making out, i would never miss a second of the features set to do so. unless, of course, i was making out with matt himself. heehee.
anyway, ive come to realize (as suspected) that the hott girl is a MB member and not only that but one i truly like from what i know of her. so its all good in my book.

i wish i could be at the red rose show. i'll be there in spirit.
thank you for being a friend.

heh...yeah, strange how at every show it ends up being someone different I'm friends with.

As for the Features show in M'boro, I don't call trying to "get in on the action" someone running away after they were dragged to the front and gyrated all over. Another friend & I watched the whole thing play out. Oh yeah, then you accused us of stealing your purse since we sat in the booth you had been in 2 hours before, then your top busted open and apparently you were too hammered to close it again.

So don't go flaming me by calling me a "fucking stroke off" for stating factual information. What I do retract though, is that it may not have bothered the band, so maybe it isn't disrepectful to them. I don't know their current view on a little bump and grind, etc, etc.

I don't think it's drugs or premarital sex (nice comment, sina). Probably they are just loosening up and becoming more comfortable on stage and with each other. I think they have only been playing together in this lineup since February. The poofy hair rocks indeed!

I'm not afraid to say that I was one of Sina's "victims" (I think) and I happened to love every minute of it. I don't take it too seriously, just like I don't really care how much of a retard I probably seem to be to those around me when I rock out. Like I said before, it helped me to enjoy the show a bit better (without having to consume one drop of alcohol). I will admit to being a little distracted by it at the Boro show, but I've lightened up on the issue since then. I can totally understand some guy's girlfriend getting pissed off when it happens, but luckily for me, I'm single. Wait, did I just say that?

If I thought for a second it was disrespectful to the band that I consider to be the best in town, then I would stop it in a heartbeat.

Well, the Features are fortunately here for all of us to enjoy in whatever shape, form or fashion you prefer. Folks all pay the admission, so therefore, you do what you like. If attention drawing behaviour is what you wish to do, then so be it. But, you have to be somewhat respectful of others around you. Fortunately for the Features, it is very tightly packed and heavily charged. You have to mind the other folks who paid the same admission to see & enjoy 3 great bands.

I personally think that getting down and dirty rocks. But it certainly has its place. There isn't anything wrong with being with your people and sharing the tunes. I think that most came out to enjoy the bands. But if your jammed up against that kind of behavior it might be a little distracting and uncomfortable. I was a bit over and the "victim" was a very good friend of mine involved in the situation, who I know quite well, he looked uncomfortable and confirmed that later, so I felt bad for him.

So, Sina, do what you like, you pay to go to Features shows just like the lot of us. Just keep in mind that not all want to see that kind of behavior. That is all I am saying. I hope you take this to heart in a subjective way instead of a mean way.

best to all,

-holey peacoat

I used to have a firm attitude against PDA, But then, I got to see the Goo Goo Dolls and Third Eye Blind at Am-south (FOR FREE)......i dont pass up a free show........anyway, a good friend brought her cousin..........she ended up hopping on my lap and we made out the entire show. She later became my current girlfriend. and we've been together over 4 months. It's strange how things work out....So i say, if someone wants to make out at a concert.......DO IT!.......good things WILL come of it!biggrin.gif .....
there's my contribution for this month

inspectoR?

yeah because i was making out with myself. don't be a fucking stroke off. (don't forget that it was your friend muck who was trying to get in on the boro action. )why didn't anyone mention the boys, huh?
Hmmmm.... it's too bad I don't remember things that way..... and I'm not sure what to post here. I wasn't going to post anything for a bit to let the water clear.....but the water is all ready mud, so there's not much harm I can do it seems. First off, (since I am evidently in the defense).... please don't attack Holey. Secondly, I will admit to going along with everything at the boro .... it was fun ... I was drunk .... but I have a very strong sense of right and wrong for some odd reason .... and it seemed wrong. Call me boring, old, righteous, whatever .... All of this was merely sparked by drunkeness and a love for the features. Sina can do her thing ... I can do mine... etc etc etc ..... call me Henry Clay.

and .... for what it's worth ... Matt used to/does have a good love for B&S .... both of the music variety and otherwise .....

I hope I'm being as comprising as I can possibly be here ......

i, too, was right in front of matt and it drowned parrish out, but i enjoyed it all the same.
I think you were right in front of me, then- you've described yourself as being on the short side, right? I almost introduced myself but had already mistaken someone for a board member once that night, so I kept my mouth shut. Maybe next time. Nice avatar.

now that everything has been cleared up

hpc, subjectively taken. do i know you? if i do i have two guesses on who you are. actually, it'd be narrowed down to one if poohbear's girl is your girlfriend as i suspect she is. her repeating everything you say in a girl way gives it away.

muck, thanks for clearing things up here. we talked about this a bit friday. & i don't think you're boring, i do notice that you watch where you step. i hope this 'wrong' thing has nothing to do with mark. that mess was over before it even began. is hpc the person that pointed me out?

sos, say hi next time.

I'm not holey's girfriend, but I do know both of them. I am not repeating hp's sentiments on purpose, I guess we just think somewhat alike blink.gif

If I thought any thing I was doing was "disrespectful" to the band, I wouldn't have been doing it. I was a little drunk. I was graduating the next day. I'd had a crush on the girl in question for quite a while.

For those of you who felt cheated out of your money because I(we) were distracting, I apologize. Don't worry, you'll have plenty more features shows to enjoy. Nobody loves this band more than me, and nobody wants to see them succeed more than me, and that's all that really matters. I could be a bit more sarcastic but what's the point.

I'm confused, and I'm sure someone will choose to flame me over this, but regardless... are you sorry or not? Cause you apologize, and then mention sarcasm. Do you feel you were in the wrong at all? Not that it matters that much, I'm just curious.

definately a sarcastic apology, and well deserved too. quit trying to let the people around you ruin the shows and just have fun.

dammit! i always WANT to say hello and introduce myself but i get scared that the person is going to NOT be a MB member or they are and they'll be like, "um, so? what the fuck? i don't care who you are". clearly, i have issues. yeah, im short with red hair and i jump up and down ALOT. that was probbaly me.

sina, if i thouhgt you were up to it, i would have made out with you too! ha ha, (of course only in between songs smile.gif)
thank you for being a friend.

That's a pretty fucked-up thing to say. You might wanna watch what you say around here seeing that those two have a lot of friends in this forum. Of course, they seem to have just as many enemies...

Damn, you know you're evil when jamie takes it upon herself to sling harsh words your way. Not that she needs it, but sinasugarsick has plenty of folks to back her up should it come to a rumble.
