Great show... found out precisely 3 hours ahead of time that I'd be able to come, hopped in the car, and showed up at The Red Rose with what amounted to plenty of time to spare. What a rockin' set. After being stranded in Chicago for so long, it was great to hear everything that I wanted... 33 1/3, Someway, Somehow, Look Out Below, Me and the Skirts, the two new songs... even Harold and Hey Lou. The Red Rose is certainly a hot place, and not the best for sound, but this was certainly one of the livliest crowds I've ever been a part of. Solid performance from beginning to end.

Was it just me, or was one of the "Long Way Down"'s cut from the chorus of "Look Out Below"? And was that bridge at the end of "Moonlight" new?

Finally got an XL T-Shirt, I had nearly given up on that hope.

It was great to be able to say hi to Stephanie, TomFoolery, and jamiecarroll. Sorry to everyone I didn't say hi to, I'm a shy one, and even though I was right behind many of you the whole show, its hard approaching a group, you know? I enjoyed sharing in The Features joy with you nonetheless.

Hope to see some of you in Chattanooga tomorrow night, and hope everyone has a happy holidays.

Will

Agreed on all accounts. Lots of energy from the band and the crowd. I was very sweaty afterwards. I really dug one Michael Acree song in particular, and despite the disparity in musical style, I didn't find the opening band unenjoyable, which can be fairly rare. It was nice to see the three message board members I talk to on a regular occasion. Oh, and since it wouldn't be a show review without some sort of complaint about her...Sina almost hit me in my manhood with a swinging hand. Fortuanately its a small target, and went unscathed. ph34r.gif

Man oh man! We got Moonlight, Blow it Out, Harold, Hey Lou AND Someway, Somehow. Who could ask for anything more!?! (Well, except for an X-Mas cover.) I've had a newfound love for Circus ever since I started noticing Roger's backing vocals. Amazing! If I've ever even hinted that I'm sick of Thursday, I take it all back. That one's been especially rockin' as of late. I can now claim two more good friends who are no longer Features virgins thanks to me. Both of them loved it of course. My friend Lou was especially happy to know that they brought back "Hey, Lou" for tonight only.

The highlight of my night, though, was definitely clearing a path so Matt could make it to the stage with his guitars and ending up in front with my ladies without looking like a complete asshole.

Good to see the regulars, especially JC, Deevol, Sina, and Lauren. Speaking of which, good luck with everything Lauren. I've only known you for a few short months (several of which you spent in South Dakota), but I'm going to miss you very, very much. I only write that here because I'm sure that I speak for MANY people. Happy Marriage!

Oh, and Sina, sorry I couldn't make that party. Maybe next time...

That was an amazing show I must say. It may be the best I've ever seen (it definitely rivals Blue Sky Court). I have to say that the general atmosphere in the Red Rose was a very fun and laid back one and I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary and it looked like everyone was having a very fun time. The man who came up behind me to do an interpretive dance during "Hey Lou" and then went away after the one song was especially funny. He got what he wanted, I guess. It was really nice meeting Genius Girl, Misguided Fool, Lauren (again) and JamieCarroll. I also have to say that seeing Roger eat his own Roger cookie was very very funny. The band and all who ate them seemed to enjoy them, which made IWantElvis, HaveSomeSoma and I very happy. I thought the opening act was pretty good. Different, but good. The lead singer asking Ray Davies to "play the blues harp" was quite funny.

The Features themselves were awesome tonite. Hearing "The Beginning" again was great after not hearing it at the last show. Rollum's pee break and Matt's comment about "blaming Rollum's bladder" was great. Man, that was just a great show and I still cannot hear out of my left ear, which is the way it should be. And I know a couple of people were converted tonite.

I'll echo what everyone has already said. It was an awesome show. Everything sounded really good, especially Parrish on "Someway, Somehow". I've never heard "Harold" or "Hey Lou" live so that was a treat.

I especially enjoyed the opening band. Not a fan of the singers voice but overall I liked them.

It was nice to see many of you. Misguided fool and Genius Girl.... you guys impressed me with your early 90's hip hop/r and b knowledge. Good to finally meet JC who I must say is the nicest person I've met from the board so far. I kinda wanted to give him a hug. I saw some of you there, but was a little too shy to say anything. Maybe next time.

The cookies were a hit. I gave them to Roger and Parrish. I felt bad because Matt was looking at the cookies and asked where his was. I had already given it to Lauren thinking I wouldn't have the courage to give it to Matt. In his cute Matt voice he aked "Was mine special too??" It was sooooo cute.

All in all, a great night!!!

Great, great, great, great, great show. I had SUCH a good time, as I generally do. But, this time, I was more lively than ever. Maybe it's because it's the Christmas season, and I am out of school. No matter why I was so hyper, I would have to say that I loved the show last night. And, Hey Lou was awesome to hear. I have never heard it live before, so that was a definite treat.
As always, it was nice to see Jamiecarroll, lawnwrangler, deevol, Ceeze, Wiyum, and ghostflower. It was nice to finally meet Lauren, and I had a great time dancing with Sina. And, of course, Tom Foolery (who I went with) is always a pleasure to be around, but you know, I'm biased.
Thanks to The Features for a great show. I loved the atmosphere. I swear it was electric. Merry Christmas to you all.

well, since i'm in kind of a rush i'll just sum this up shortly...one of the best shows i've seen, if not the best. "harold", yay. it was nice to meet genius girl and misguided fool, you don't meet fellow tlc fans too often! i'm glad that the band enjoyed snacking on themselves. i was proud to craft roger with my own two hands, even if he did only have one arm. i think my 5 guests with me tonight were all converted. they all had alot of fun. as did i. wow, i'm still coming down of the rock and roll high. merry christmas to all.

I have to thank my friend Carl Weitlauf for talking me into going to the show last night. This was the first time I'd seen The Features in concert, and wow... I was very impressed.

I'd worked the overnight shift at Channel 10 in Tampa the night before and only slept on the plane ride to Nashville, so I was pretty damn tired. But I trust Carl's taste in music, and when he said the best band in the Nashville area was playing, I knew I had to see for myself.

Before the show Carl tried to explain their sound to me. And it was difficult for him to quantify it in a nutshell description. That's because the band incorporates so many different elements that it's tough to describe them as fitting in a particular niche.

The Red Rose wasn't a particularly impressive or acoustically-friendly venue. The decor screamed early 1970's cafeteria to me. But, any place that brings in these guys for a show is fine in my book. Plus, Killian's Red and good music equals a fun time for me.

I didn't realize what a rare treat hearing "Hey Lou" was. Appripo that they played it last night, since that's my name and all.

The energy the band brought was great. The crowd excitement and interaction was a site to behold. Finishing with "Thursday" was a good choice (and I understand that it's a usual show finisher or at least end of the set song).

I bought the band's "The Beginning" EP CD after the show, and I'm glad I did. Great music from a great band that has the potential to make it big...

The show was so good. It wasn't my number one features show, but it was marvelous anyway. I just wasn't quite as into it last night as I usually am. The opening band was really good, but it's just not my sort of thing. It was awesome all together, as usual. Now, I'm in Features withdrawl and can't wait until the next show.

good show. crap venue. very sweaty. loud keys, as parrish was running sound. love the new untitled one especially when roger cuts out. that's one of my favorite bass tricks. "someway, somehow" is perhaps the greatest song ever written; i was getting a nice r&b vibe from it. what a treat to hear "hey lou," made me miss the hell out of murfreesboro.

i made the features plum pudding. they said it was awesome and that your cookies sucked.

good show. crap venue.
EXACTLY. I can't believe no one else has had complaints about the red rose. there was actually so much of a haze in there that I had to step outside for a bit. that combined with the heat, humidity and tile/glass walls made it almost dreadful. Other than that, great show. I wonder if the guy who told me not to bother helping his friend request Hey Lou at 12th and P because I would have no idea what it was was there to hear it. I really dig the two newest songs, more each time I hear them. I wish I would have gotten a cookie, I've always said yes when someone asked me that question smartassedly. recognizing more faces every show, had fun with good friends and their crazy siblings.

indeed a great show. hey lou!!! i really really love me & the skirts and look out below. i had fun dancing my ass off with stephanie, lauren, and carligula. man, i had a great fucking time.
i was a bit thrown off by holeypeacoat slamming me up against the pastry window and making out with me, but i just wrote it off as him having too much to drink. wink.gif
and i wasn't too keen on the indoors red rose thing, especially as far as a features show is concerned.

see you at the next show.
she's just another ho that i met in the hood

Ditto to everything! I thought that Rollum was especially kick-ass & the new songs really showcase him. The dancing was even more fun than usual, thanks to sina & carl & ghostflower- sorry for the crotch grab, ceeze. I finally met StephanieW! Good to see that she likes to rock, too. The cookies made the night complete- they were works of art, thanks to iwantelvis & digsy. I'm terribly sorry that I took Matt before Matt could, but his rolling eyes were too cute for me to not eat him. A great night that only got better on the drive home when we heard Funky Cold Medina & Wild Boys back to back.

Thanks for the warm wishes, carl & jamie & ceeze- it was hard leaving Nashville (for the second time!), but I have high hopes for making it to future Features shows, perhaps in Atlanta. See you all there!

Haha ..... very funny Sina ..... were you the one that grabbed me on the waist at the show? I looked around like a high school idiot when someone taps you on the shoulder and then runs off and leaves ya hanging... next thing I knew .... I saw you and Holey chatting and was like "doh" ... hope it wasn't like the way things started in here (or still are....) Anyway, yeah ... a bit too crowded and stuffy, but very fun.... saw some old high school friends there..well ... I always see one .... but the other surprised me. I have noticed that there is always an equal, if not greater, female to male ratio at features show which I think is grand rolleyes.gif Sometimes though, with the all ages shows, I have no idea how old everyone is .... so I just stay civil. Maybe next show, I won't be. ph34r.gif

finaly getting around to posting my thoughts on the show.....fucking amazing as always....digsy told me that during the course of the show that a random person asked him how long the features had been together, digsy said about 8 or 9 years. the stranger said "wow, they're awesome. they should be the biggest band in the world"......the opening act asked me to play harmonica on their last song, i declined by saying "i'm wearing a roxy music t-shirt...i cant play blues harp", however, they did eventually out of nowhere give me a free cd, which was very thoughtful and nice.....exliontamer and i exchanged mix cds (he gave me a 2 disc set full of stuff like can, brian eno, serge gainsborg, and the walkmen (it's fucking awesome, elt...thanks again), i gave him the entire jam box set)....overall, a very awesome night indeed......
