Damn The Mosquitos
Idea Of Growing Old
God Save****

* This song started out as "Martyr," was changed to "Wagon Wheels" at the last Wall Street show in November, and is now back to "Martyr."

** This was definitely played, most likely introduced, at Wall Street in November. It's quite short and labeled as "Intro" on Parrish's setlist which I used in conjunction with my memory to concoct this.

*** I can't remember what this sounded like, but I know that only "Wander" and "Drawing Board" were new tonight (if "Wander" was). Anyhow, this is on the setlist and it's around a spot where I think a newer song might have been.

**** This is "God Save Rock & Roll" but introduced as "God Save." Hmm...

~?~ And there is a song called "Man Rock" on the setlist that I don't remember being performed. It was performed at Wall Street, though, so it isn't the same song as "Damn the Mosquitos" like I guessed.

---

Great show, of course, really because it's apparent how into the new material the band is. They just looked like they were having such a great time, smiling, laughing, rocking out, just amazing. The definite new song, "Drawing Board," was a highlight. It's awesome and features a breakdown with, get this, the band yelling something in unison...that's begun by Parrish. It's great. Seriously. "I Will Wander" sounded like it might have been played at Wall Street, but it is seriously funky. This song makes "Armani Suede" sound like "The Star-Spangled Banner" (I can't think of a less-funky song). The Noogians were dry humping all over the place to this song.

The Nooge effect of crowd surfing and total lack of shame wasn't really in effect tonight. I got in no fights and I didn't have to throw anyone's shoe. Good times.

Everytime I yell for "The Damage Is Done," Rollum always notices and tries to talk Matt into it. It never works.

And, of course, I love this band and album two is going to be overflowing with great stuff.

I thought "I Will Wander" sounded an awful lot like "something Rawanda", but you're probably right . . .

Thanks for the report, Digsy, but, man, I'm more and more pissed when I miss these shows. This time I was only 2 hours away, but it just wasn't going to happen.

I'm so glad I made it to this show. It made me really happy, and I was so glad to hear the new songs. I absolutely loved "Drawing Board". I cannot wait to hear it again. And, "Foundation's Cracked" is still my number two Features song of all time behind "Darkroom" (which was, by the way, not played...). I'm so glad that song didn't get ditched for good. Oh, and "Hold" makes me want to cry, and I could listen to it over and over again. So, yeah...very good show. Oh, I really like "Martyr" a lot, too. And, Chattanooga was a lot less rowdy than usual. Oh, yeah..."Harder to Ignore" was definitely a highlight.

But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

Joey, I still don't know who your are. Were those your feet I was stepping on all night?

I didn't record this one, and I doubt anyone else did. It occurred to me that it would have been profitable to get this one. Maybe next time.

Normally, new Features songs have to grow on me for a long time. "Drawing Board" is a notable exception.

I gave up yelling for Harder to Ignore to the point that I had forgotten about it. There was a pleasant surprise.

"Martyr" is much better than "Wagon Wheel."

I was hoping that "I Will Wander" would segue into "The Wanderer."
And yes, it is damn funky.

I was hoping for a bit more of a rowdy show. I didn't get it. Did anyone notice that there was virtually no smoking going on down on the floor?

No, my feet were actually good for once. smile.gif

Unfortunately, this will be my last show for quite a while. (I guess Carl will have some company when it comes to complaining about not seeing the band.) I'm leaving for Thailand on Wednesday. It was, however, a great show to go out on though, and from the looks of things, the new album will be waiting for me upon my arrival back in the U.S. I just hope "Concrete" doesn't make it!

Doing the ol' boy whore thing? Carl said he made good money doing that in Bangkok.

Just remember, though, it will make a hard man crumble. Gotta go, there's an angel sneaking up on me.

I thought 'I will wander' sounded very Cure-like which was great, except I didn't care for the chorus part.

I remember I liked the song Concrete as well, although I don't remember what it sounded like.

And I was very excited to see God Save, since I wasn't here the last time they played.

I would still have to say however that Foundation's Cracked and Arcata are still my favorites of the new bunch.

All in all a great show, but the crowd wasn't as lively as a good ole 'boro show. Hopefully they will come back to Austin or near there, since I won't be here for the next one.

And, oh yeah....Texas Fight!

Or Calamine.

The shout-in-unison song sounds cool. Carl, welcome to my world.

The last show I saw was the Mahaffey Tribute Show on my way to Florida, where I've been going to school. Florida may as well be Thailand, because live music doesn't exist here. I wish I could have made this show.

That's what I thought, as well.

Good show..I'm guessing the lack of energy in the crowd was due to the new songs perhaps?? People seemed more like they were listening...then of course it would pick up when it was a familiar song.

Man, did that first band blow though.
Why would you do that?

I think it would have been okay if they had left that last "song" out.

And on a side-note, some of you will be happy to know I played "One Night in Bangkok" on my mp3 player when the plane landed. Excellent song guys!

I had heard it, but it was before I actually liked music as much as I do now.
