** yes, the Wings song!

Okay, so this was the benefit that we've been hearing so much about. It was in the same theater as the last benefit the Features did at Lipscomb, for those that remember. It was mostly a Lipscomb crowd, from what I could tell. There were about 50 people there, and the crowd was pretty good. Alot of them knew the words to the songs, and everyone seemed really enthusiastic. Two things stuck out to me: 1) the lights - the lights at this place are very cool; I really like the colored backgrounds; note to self: bring a camera if/when the Features play there again - 2) the dead silence between songs - it was uncanny; you could hear most every word that the band said on stage.

Jet! Wow! That was completely out of left field. It was pretty raw, but God, did it sound great. A pretty natural fit for a Features cover. Roger sang the 'Oooh-oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh-oooh, Oooh-oooh-oooh' parts. Parrish played the Moog parts. I hope they play it again!

Some random thoughts on tonight's show:

Where the hell was GSRnR?

After the first two songs (when you couldn't hear Parish or the vocals) there was pretty good sound for that type of show/venue.

I like Buffalo Head more and more every show.

Where the hell was Action?

You could actually hear Roger's vox and his harmonies (Jet and 33 1/3 come to mind) were quite good.

I had never seen these people at shows before, but many of them seemed to know the words and whatnot.

Where the hell was See You Through?

I really thought they were going to break out either 'Disco' when Jamie requested it, or Discotheque which Matt was overheard saying it on stage.

Matt seemed unusually happy tonight.

How did Rollum make it through without a cigarette?

Where were Smee and Freezetag?

It is weird seeing The Features where there is more than a foot between each member.

OK, that's quite enough.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Matt did seem unusually happy tonight. And unusually casually dressed.

On the note of lights, I think its clear that Kari Anne will soon be the national anthem of France.

As for the show, short as it was, the sound was good and I laughed out loud at the Jesus line in Buffalohead considering the show's location. So a good time, even though my rear tire blew out on the interstate halfway between Nashville and Murfreesboro, I changed my tire in the pouring rain, then had to drive back to Murfreesboro, get my friend's car, and then drive to the show. And just for THAT, I really needed a longer set

Wow, JET! Can't believe I missed that one. Hope they play it at the exit/in (hint, hint). Looking forward to Friday. Was it actually called 'Fools for Christ?' Man that's fucked up.

ps Was this the same theatre The Eater's played some three or so years ago?

The opening band reminded me of all I dislike about Contemporary Christian Music, but they had a cute cellist.

I really enjoyed that show.  I gravitate toward shows with lesser crowds.  I was going to record it, but got in the building and realized my stuff was out in the car.  I figured someone else might have recorded it.  The band played great, the setting and lights and sound were good too.   Jet sounded much better than it did during sound check.  I really really like the newer songs like Buffalo Head and Idea of Growing Old.

I got to thinking about the Christian school setting, and thought it might've been cool if the Features had altered their set to emphasize evil and debauchery just for that set, with songs like
'Moonshine'
'The Idea of Growing Shrooms'
'Worshipping Demons'
'Blow Me Out'
'Un-button Your Shirt'
'Stark White Whore Approaching'

or they could have gone the other way and done a Christian set,
'3x3'
'Sunday'
'O My God'
'Virgin Mary-Ann'
'The Beginning (Week One)'
'Prayed to Think'
'God Save Rock and Roll'

OK--that's enough.  It's all in good fun and I'm going to work.

Those are priceless, YDDD, especially 'Un-Button Your Shirt'.

Yes, this was the benefit for Fools for Christ.

No, this was not the same theater that Switchfoot/Sneaky Eaters played in 1999.  This one is in the student center.

THe openers were not contemporary christian music... it was just music. and 'Fools for Christ' is the group that works witht he homeless, not the homeless. It is just the name of their group, like 'fool' as in 'fanatic'.... so it's not f#@%)( up, actually. i'm glad everyone had a good time, or seemed to. i appreciate everyone coming out. i'ms ure there is a copy of the show somewhere = )
maybe i could sing along
to your neverending songs,
i'm just looking for some fun

They still reminded me of every thing I can't stand about Contemporary Christian Music.

But anyway, I thought the show was great, and I hope they play more shows at Lipscomb in the future. Thanks, Featuresgirl for putting that one together.

the opening band's name was undercurrent, i think it fit their sound quite well, because i think of swift rivers or oceans when i hear the sounds of the strings. I didn't think they sucked, and i couldn't really tell they were a christian band at all. Contemporary christian music to me is like DC talk and Jars of Clay, total shit, which they sounded nothing like. The vocalist made noises instead of singing and the strings and drums sounded really good, picture a cleancut watered-down sigur ros high on jesus and grenadine.

The show was grreat. parrish went crazy up on that moog. It was sort of like a practice session, and we were all just there to watch in awe. I requested 33 1/3 and they played it. I love them features.

I'm going to the perfect world of cranes show in a min. I'm friendly and over emo, i wear pseudo-intelligent plastic rimmed glasses and have brown cheek length curly hair, hit me up at any show for some good convo, or if you have any drugs to sell.

the new features tee is peechy, i had to gets me one.
the overly sensitve boy, the emo of emos....
