Even without the encore (which hopefully fulfilled my prophecy about Paid to Think or Burma in the encore, but probably didn't) its a Hell of a set. I feel compelled to put Harold into regular rotation and out of specialty status, a move that I've wanted to be able to do and never thought would happen. I'm glad to see Armani, 33 1/3, 2x2, and Situation, and I'm jazzed that Moonlight and Growing Old both made it in, as they're approaching being my new favorites and I hate to see either one left out.

I can't imagine what the encore held... Bring on the Night? Damage is Done? The Design? Grapevine? Serious? Stagecoach?

Will

I know everyone must be sick of me making comments from 1000 miles away having not seen the show, but all I have to do is sit back and watch the fluxuations in the setlist (perhaps this is why I do the discography "last played" record, to be updated soon I assure you) to see whats "in" and whats "out." Bring on the Night seems to be on the way out, if I can say so, which frightens me since its my favorite of the Krampf sessions.
You may like grandma's yard gnomes, but I've seen Rock City. Remember it.

Now that I'm in the correct thread,

A
G
H
K*all of you.

Seriously, I thought the Rosepepper thing worked out really well. I found it interesting to sit and talk with a group about the Features, this board, and several other topics. It was nice. Thanks to IWE, DS, RD, and BW. It will probably never happen, but an occasional get-together before or after a show would really help me get into the whole experience, I think. It did last night.

Let me see...the encore:
Damage is Done
Temporary Blues
Serious
Stagecoach

I know all of those were played, but I'm not sure if that was all of them or if the order is right. Someone help please.

This was my first time to hear the re-worked Temporary Blues. I didn't like it as much, and I especially miss the keyboard riff. On the other hand, I do like how the bridge quotes "Discoteque"

...Idea... has a nice re-make, but it will take some getting used to. I don't think I've ever enjoyed Harold as much as I did last night (but it also strengthened my feelings that it shouldn't be on the record).

I had a great amount of enjoyment from watching the very stoned guy in front of Roger doing his little dances. I also liked Brian Carter much more than when I saw him 3 years ago. He was funny this time.

My greatest source of self-amusement from this was experimenting more with really cheesy and dorky motions for the songs. The best motions can be done for Walk You Home, Look Out Below, and See You Thru. Some other songs that could be worked on during future shows: That's the Way It's Meant to Be, Exorcising Demons, Me & the Skirts, and Blow It Out. If ...Idea... is given motions, many of them would be too lewd to be done in public. I must also give a shout out to Token, for without her, I wouldn't have
1)anyone to run into in Thursday
2)anyone to blow on for Blow It Out (thanks to TF, too)
3)anyone to hold in my arms and call mine
4)someone to not stop when she starts to dance

Good to hear 33 1/3 again as well.

Awesome show. I am soo glad I got in. I don't think I like the new "Temporary Blues" as much. I finally got to talk to some of ya'll and finally meet YDDD, Token, TF, StephW, GeniusGirl, Misguided Fool, Joey, DS... sorry if I left you out. Who was the guy that said "It's Rachel" when we were walking back to the car?

YDDD & Token: yall are the cutest things I've ever seen. I'd really love to join your interpretive dance squad next show.

I had an excellent time last night. From dinner at Rosepepper (It was very nice to sit and talk with all of you! Get togethers like that should happen more often!) to talking to all of you nice mb members at the bar to doing silly motions and dancing with YaDaDaDa, it was the perfect ending to a busy week.

Oh, and I was really glad to see that you made it in, Rachel. You must have the coolest dad ever for him to dedicate his Friday night to making sure you got to see the Features.

And YDDD, I refuse to use your silly code! tongue.gif

Great show. Lots of energy. Crowd going absolutely apeshit between (and sometimes during) every song. The boys seemed to be having a better time than normal (except for Rollum when forced to play Armani Suede). I've said it before, but TTWIMTB gets better everytime I hear it. This could really be their impact single. It was sucky not getting Someway, Somehow, but we got a lot of cool goodies to tide me over.

I'm proud of Sina for not starting too much shit this time. There was only one shoving match, but apparently the prick shoved her first. Of course, when he and his buddy tried to start a pit later, I think I handled the situation a little better. Plus, they had to put up with a lot of convulsing on my part, so there's no bad feelings.

Rachel, kudos for getting in! Sorry I didn't get to say "hi". You seemed pretty busy getting to know everyone. I got to talk at length with Bowl of Fire-- nice guy. JoeyWade-- good job of identifying yourself with the Titan's jersy. Nice talking to you as well.

I think the Features accomplished exactly what they wanted last night. They packed the Slow Bar with devoted fans (of all ages) without having to turn anyone away. I'm not sure if everyone truly appreciates what a great thing that was. Thanks to them and thanks to Grimey for bending the normal age restrictions to have a smaller, more intimate show at a great venue.

Oh, and thanks to Roadie for hosting the afterparty. I'm already getting some quality time in with Pharoh.

wow, this show was great...my favorite one in a very long time.

the only thing that could've made it any better would be if they changed "33 1/3" out with "the design" (hey, we gave it a shot) and "exorcising demons" with "darkroom." i absolutely love that they are playing "harold" more often now. i like it's extra verse. the "pants getting tighter song" (which i refuse to call by its real name) is quickly becoming a crowd favorite, i know it is for me. and i wasn't crazy about the changes to "temporary blues" the first time i heard them either, but they kind of grew on me. i still miss parts of the old one though. i'm glad that our cries for "serious" were heard. and i'm glad they opened with "the beginning." and i'm glad they closed with "stagecoach."

it was really nice to get to talk to all of the mb members i got to talk to. i had no idea that yddd and token were such excellent dancers. everytime i hear "walk you home" i will think of you two holding hands and marching in place. i'm glad that rachel got in...what a cool dad. genius girl and mf are always so fun to talk to. and i'm glad i got to talk to stephanie and tf for more than just a second. getting to talk to everyone always makes shows more fun.

and i don't remember them playing "the damage is done" last night in the encore. unless i slipped into some sort of one-song-coma. or unless it's a mb joke that i'm not hip to. the rest of the encore order is correct, though.

I have to say that last night's show was the best one since Bingham's, moreso because of the giant mass of message board community than the actual show (which was still the best I've seen them since Bingham's). The band was totally more into it than they have been in a while. Excellent. It was so great to actually get to hang out with YDDD, Token, and BrianW at Rosepepper. The dinner thing should be done at every show. Misguided Fool and Genius Girl provided the funniest word of the night (Crackalina, anyone?). It was also nice to stand in the midst of what I call "The Message Board Sorority" (IWE, HSS, Rachel, Stephanie, Misguided Fool & Genius Girl). Thanks to TF for yelling for "Jurley." It's a shame your magical request powers couldn't work on the song. It must be cursed. I have to reiterate that YDDD and Token's dancing was a highlight of the show. It was also nice to get to hang out with BoF after the show. Last nite felt like some sort of weird reunion with everyone socializing and stuff. I hope it's a trend that continues.

Now to get to the stereotypical comments, I'm glad they played "Stagecoach" and "Temporary Blues," the changes in "Idea of..." are definitely going to be something to get used to since I loved the keyboard part of the original so so so much, I wish they had played "Jurley" or "The Design," and there was no discomfort caused by anyone.

Great show.

Things I loved about the show:

1. Grimey being so cool and nice to let all of us underage people come.
2. Token and Yadada's dancing
3. TF's chewy sweet tarts
4. Serious
5. Getting a piece of Parrish's trident
6. Rollum almost falling off his chair
7. The new Temporary Blues
8. Genius Girl and Misguided Fool talking about molesting various members of the Features
9. Rosepepper before the show
10. The community of mb memebers last night. Everyone was extremly nice and seemed to be having lots of fun. It's was nice to see/meet Token, YDDD, Stephanie, TF, Rachel, JoeyWade, Bowl of Fire, DS257 and anyone else I left out.

As always, great to see you all. DS, it's pretty clever calling us "The Messageboard Sorority," although I feel that none of us act as if we were actually IN a sorority. But, then again, I would assume that since it's a messageboard sorority, we would be way cooler than any college girls in sororities. Y'all can be my sisters anytime! Considering the various conversations that were had last night, including the notorious "halfies" topic with IWE, DS, YDDD, Token, and TF, as well as the topic of groping various members of The Features with Genius Girl and misguided fool, I would say that the night was a success, for us socially of course. TF and I were discussing how lots of people are getting along right now, both on here and at the shows. I like being friendly with all of you (and, I don't think that I have ever been bitchy to any of you yet), so I hope this trend lasts, just like DS. Oh, and I hope I get to dance with DS and IWE at future shows. It was fun.

It was awesome getting to talk to the ones of you that I did. I finally got to meet more messageboard members: Genius Girl, misguided fool, joeywade (kind of), Charlotte (quite briefly as well), and Rachel. I also got to see a friend of mine, who actually introduced me to The Features...Thanks, Preston!

The Features were awesome, which is to be expected. I was right up front half of the time and could have "helped" Parrish play the keyboards if I actually knew how to play, if he actually needed help (which we all know he doesn't), and if I had the balls to do it. So, that was nice. I always love watching the crowd and seeing people dance like madmen and madwomen. It just makes me feel good. In fact, the crowd was quite excited last night, with many song requests being cried out. Thank goodness they played Serious. I think IWE would have killed someone if they wouldn't have.

I am going to miss these guys this summer while they are recording. I still think we should get together, even if they aren't playing anywhere, and just have fun. I think we could entertain each other pretty well.

I think last night's show was one of the best I've seen in a long time. The only thing that could have made it better was if they had played "Dark Room", especially instead of "33 1/3". And, I wish they played "Damage is Done" in the encore, but they didn't...I would have remembered as it is one of my favorites. Oh, I was very happy, as usual, to hear "Armani Suede", and "Harold" is finally starting to grow on me.

I'm quite greatful that the age restricition was adjusted for this show. I really would have hated to miss it.

This was the best Features show that I've been to. Fucking amazing. I had a great time the entire night. I enjoyed every song immensely, but wished I could have heard Dark Room... other than that it was a wonderful set.

I thought Brian Carter was hilarious. He should do VH1's Storyteller's. He was quite a character.

The crowd was great as well. Even if I was nearly headbutted a few times wink.gif

It sure as hell will not happen again for me since nobody even takes the fucking time to remember I was there. I'm sorry to sound like a bitch, but I'm getting fucking tired of it. Once again, I know I'm shy and not very talkative around people I don't really know, but that's something I cannot really help. If people were to actually remember my presence and include my name on a message board post about the people they had dinner with, I would be more likely to actually meet them again and become more talkative. I guess I just need to learn to live with the fact that I'm the most insignificant and forgettable person to ever walk the fucking earth.

(I'm sorry if you just happened to not type in my name or something, but I just finally had to speak out because this happens way too often...I did enjoy the dinner and company though, even if I was invisible to everybody else....and I'm sorry to include such a semi-off-topic post in the concert reviews section.)

If you guys are eating around 6:30 or before then we would love to join you. By we, I mean Digsy, Ray, Sadie, myself, and a non-poster. That makes five.
Four showed up, and Token and I debated in the car whether you were Sadie or the non-poster. You were only introduced by your first name, and I have a thing about posting people's first names. The debate was never solved, and so I didn't mention you. Please forgive me.

As for Temporary Blues, I never really liked the song at all. Its re-working only took away the parts of the song I liked. It was given something else that I do like, but it's still not my favorite.

I really wish that the Features were more talkative like Brian Carter was. BrianW and I discussed before the show how their material has strengthened and their dialogue with the audience has diminished. roadie's thing with Idaho was a little sway back to that, but not much.

It was a spectacular show.

It's a weird feeling because i'm was so happy to see the band last night, but i'm also kind of sad due to the fact that i wont be able to see them for quite a while. it's a bittersweet feeling. (but good luck on the album, you guys. have a good time and be productive...it will be a magnificent album biggrin.gif ) Brian Carter was one of the most entertaining opening acts that i have ever seen. The band was in top form last night. An absolutely fucking brilliant show. It seemed as though the entire crowd decided to go apeshit last night for the features. everyone was screaming and rocking out. it was fantastic.

Rosepepper was fun. Good chimichangas.....Yummy conversation as well.

He runs his own studio, so he has very likely recorded them. He said to imagine them with a band setting, and I don't think he's playing out with a band (he said this was his first solo show in about 2 years). That said, I doubt he has an official release, esp. since he wasn't selling it last night. You can get his stuff with the Preservatives (featuring former Feature Don Sergio on drums) on mp3.com.

Hey, y'all

Great time last night. The Features were definitely "on." I was glad to hear some of the rarer/newer stuff I hadn't heard live before like Temporary Blues and 2X2. The last time I heard Situation Gone Bad was at the Attic on November 16th, and I'd been dying to hear it again ever since then. I like the pants getting tighter song (Harder to Ignore) a lot, but I have to say the most entertaining part is watching Matt's "insane" facial expressions. He looks so calm and reserved before and after shows, but on stage, he looks like he's constantly on the brink of insanity.

I missed out on the pre-show Mexican dinner, but I got to tag along on a low-key excursion to Steak 'n' Shake afterwards with iwantelvis, digsyslattery, ray davies, sexy sadie and matt. During the show, I enjoyed watching Yadada and Token cut a rug over in the corner. I didn't have a chance to say hi, but you definitely looked like cool people. I was the blond guy with headphones over to your right. Nice meeting Carl, even though he thought I was Flying Features Fan (do I look 15?). Always cool to have intelligent conversation with a fellow fan.

Kinda sucks that this was the last show for a while, but it won't be long... no it won't be long (whooooaoaaaoaoaohoo)...*ahem* they'll play again soon, I'm sure.

Oh, I feel so, so terrible about this. We all seemed sort of shy when we sat down, so I asked names, and of course everyone said his/her real name. Like YDDD said, we thought you weren't a poster, just a nice girl named __________. (Name deleted to retain privacy).

But you are not at all insignificant or unforgettable. I didn't get to talk to you much, but you seemed very sweet and I really dug your red striped shirt and little tie/scarf thingy. Very cute. Please don't back out of future mb "socials." That would be a real shame.

Bowl of Fire, I thought that was you when IWE gave you her brownies. I don't think you look 15, and maybe you can dance with YDDD and me at the next show. I had no idea we were such a hit! Thanks, everyone, for your kind compliments. We'll be working on our routine for the next show.... rolleyes.gif

Oh yes, the brownies! How could I forget?

Thanks SO much for the brownies IWE, you truly didn't have to. I could never tell from the beginning if you were serious or not, so I sort of played along and I'm sorry if I "forced" you to make them. I wasn't really expecting it, but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Chocolate rules me.

YDDD and Token: You two look like such a happy couple! I'm not sure if I read correctly in past threads, but I heard you were getting married. That's great, you'll have cute babies raised on good music. What more could you want?

no, bowl of fire, you don't look 15. i think carl just has a real problem with age estimations. either that or he's just really mean. he asked if i was rachel when i first met him at the february red rose show. i sure don't look 14....at least i never thought i did. thanks alot, carl.

Damn, I was kinda hoping I looked 15 because i'm bummed about turning 20 this year. For the next decade my age will begin with a 2...and then it's just downhill from there.

Love your signature, HSS. We missed you at Steak 'n' Shake.

Alright kids, get of my back. Maybe you'll understand when you're as old as me. I have a hard enough time remembering screen names to memorize everyone's birthday. All I knew was FFF said he was under 18 and going to be there by himself wearing a blue plaid shirt. From what I could tell, he fit the description. I took at stab at it and came up short. All i know is i got to meet some new cool people. And in my defense, Rachel does not look 15.

It may be true that Rachel looks older than she appears, but to confuse FFF and BoF? BoF looks closer to 25 than 20!!!!

I also wish that I could've made the Steak n Shake thing. That sounded nice.

Yeah, well, Rachel, you do look older than 15. And I had you pegged for actually being older than that ever since I read the first post by you. I teach 15 yr. olds, and most of them can't really write a sentence, so you must be lying. You're probably, like, 25 and just trying to snow us all.

Just kidding. biggrin.gif You're just cool.

Don't feel terrible, Token. I honestly did have a good time at dinner and also thought you seemed very sweet. I won't hold this against future mb social events since it's all been cleared up. Oh, and thanks for the complement on the outfit. smile.gif

Oh, I'll be there alright. Of course, I'll be there with my usual entourage (consisting mostly of hot ladies). Okay, not really. Speaking of that show, Richard Dawson and I hung out tonight (we were helping Sina move) and he said he'd be there as well.

i think that the slow bar show was the best show i've ever seen. it was great, not that all the others haven't been fucking amazing. anyways, it was good meeting people, but like i said before...i'm bit shy and tend to hide behind deathscythe and damon. anyways, i enjoyed everyone's company which made the show that much more enjoyable. i think it would have been a little better if the stoned guy wasn't bumping into me the whole time with his weird robot moves. he did provide some entertainment to me as well as roger...who kept cracking up. i also enjoyed the parish gum....haha...good ole trident which i needed at that point. ph34r.gif

The show was awesome!!!! I love the Features! I can't believe they played "Two by Two." I was sad they didn't play "Bring on the Night." The Features are the best band in America. That was the best show I've ever seen. They were so into it tonight. They were dead on tonight. The sound was great. The sound sucked. It was great to finally meet rachel1808. It was nice to talk to DigsySlattery. I can't believe I missed that show. I can't wait until the next show. Get out of my way, you stupid message board members, because you were all in my way forming a blockade and I couldn't see because of you! I'm pissed at Sina because she was drunk and bothered me. Sina, I love you. I loved this show! I was too shy to talk to any message board members. I think I was standing next to joeywade. I wish they wouldn't have made changes to "Temporary Blues."

We were watching that guy, too. He was hilarious. For some reason, damon attracts weird dancers, such as the insane guy at The Attic as well as the one we are talking about now.
Regardless, he is now a dancer that sticks out in my mind. What I found the funniest is the fact that he would be moving his arms slowly (like a snake was in his shirt, as HSS said) during a song like GSRnR. I kept looking over every now and then to see if he was still at it, and he never let me down.

That was the greatest show!! I really will go crazy this summer, due to the lack of Features shows but I'll manage.

About the robot dancer, that guy was crazy cool. but I can see how it might get on someones nerves.. because there was hardly any crowd space and stuff for peps.. not that he took up all of it or something .. uh anyway more power to him:)

i wish i had been there. i ws in atlanta for the music midtown festival. friday night sucked really bad due to th3 amount of rain and lightning. the concert was cut short. i only got to see bob dylan and les claypool friday night. which in it self was great but the weather was bitch. the whole time i was walking in the rain soaking wet i was wishing i was at the slow bar. the reats of the weekend was magnificent but friday was a nightmare.

i'm glad everyone rocked out............
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

I always think it's strange, the people wanting to look older or younger thing.

What is the ideal age to look? I would say 25 is pretty darn good. It's more mature than a teen and less "old" than a 30-something. You know, 25 says that you've seen some life, but not too much to make you haggard and unattractive.

Take it as a compliment, BoF!

on the other hand, i hate almost anyone who is 25ish. twenty-something people make me squirm. but that is likely the biggest generalization, and now that i think about it, i like a good number of people that are in this range. but you know, some 25 year olds just really fucking suck.

i will never be twenty-something. i will never be twenty-something. i will never be twenty-something.
