I recorded this show and am just now listening to it. This is the third radio performance like this that the Features have done, and this one has by far the worst sound. The vocals often have a terrible echo on them and are strangely buried in the mix on the radio. Some other technical difficulties made my recording of this show not so great. I mainly got it just because I have the other two. Anyway, I'll post the setlist if no one else does. Was there an encore?

I wondered if the vocals could be heard any better on the radio than they could be there in the bar...

Encore:

Temporary Blues
Harder to Ignore
The Beginning
remember that its all in your head.

I was super tired and almost didn't go, but it was good to see the band again. I really liked the new songs, especially the first one. And it was great to hear Idea of Growing Old... I thought it had died the same sad death Look Out Below experienced.

I noticed there were nomad devices connected to both sound boards. If I'm not mistaken, Nomad is a brand of mp3 recorders/players so perhaps a good recording of the show will magically appear. There were a few songs played that I'd love to have a recording of.

Great show. "Take You On" sounds very Interpol to me. "Contrast" was really cool. I also liked Matt's new way of playing "Temporary Blues" during the second verse.

No "Damage is Done." Matt was being a pussy according to Rollum.

I have the set list from the show, but I left it at home. I can post it tomorrow if someone else doesn't do it before then.

I loved the show but I had trouble hearing Matt, and I was right in front of him. I can't wait to hear the new songs again and hopefully catch the lyrics next time.

The Beginning

I listened to this on the radio, and yes, I did tape it. But let me warn you, this will not be a very desirable recording. But it's not because of the Features' performance, which was raucous as usual. The problem was the sound, which varied between mediocre and truly dreadful. I tuned into Lightning 100 at about 8:30, just to make sure I had a good signal...and I had a GREAT signal. It was crystal clear. I did a little test recording to make sure my sister's stereo was working...it worked just fine. Then at about 9:00, the DJ came on and introduced the Features...it still sounded good. But from the second Matt went into "Circus," I could tell that there was something wrong. It sounded like somethning was malfunctioning...everything was fuzzy and staticy. It was obvious that someone was trying to work out whatever problem they were having, because you could hear them continuously tweaking the sound, but still continued to sound awful. It really sounded like there was a bad piece of equipment in the chain or something. Meanwhile, the Features kept playing. I could hardly believe that this trainwreck of a sound situation was being broadcast on a major radio station. After 3 or 4 songs, they finally got it to where the static and the fuzziness were gone. Now the problem was that it was a really terrible mix. For whatever reason, they had a ton of yucky reverb on Matt's vocals, which made him sound strange. The keys and bass were very much louder than the guitar and drums. But the mix too seemed to be changing as the set went on. By about "Leave It All Behind," they had settled on a mix that was at least listenable, although still not great. All in all, I was truly blown away by how bad the sound was on this radio broadcast. I don't know whether it's 3rd&L's fault or Lightning 100's fault, but somebody dropped the ball. Did they even do a soundcheck?

Okay, now that that's out of the way, let me just say that I'm still really loving the Features' new material. It's gonna be a helluva sophomore album!

I saw them do the soundcheck. I hadn't been to 3rd & Lindsley in a while, so I'm not sure if these problems are typical for a show there.

The Features did the same show in 99, and they did not have these problems.

My husband (and kids) and I drove up from Atlanta to see the show....I'd like to get a recording if possible....even though from what I've read on the posts, it sounds like it's not so good....let me know if anyone can help me out.

All I caught was Contrast, Hold You Alone, and Thursday and it sounded pretty ok where I was. In related news, I don't think I had ever heard Contrast before and you can put me down as a fan.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I think they've performed it a grand total of three times, so don't feel too bad.
