ENCORE:
Stark White Stork Approaching ->
Stagecoach
Someway, Somehow
Action

-12th & Porter was packed. It makes me proud to see our city support a local band this way.
-Character? What can I say, you continue to evolve and you continue to blow my mind. Ryan Norris is a genius and Dave Paulson is one of my favorite guitar players.
-I think I saw more people that I know at this show than I ever have before, and so many of them were message board people. I got to meet Rachel and Mr. and Mrs. Khautala.
-This is two shows in a row that Parrish has worn the Whitt's Barbecue shirt...do you think he's scored an endorsement?
-The Features are firing on all cylinders. Look out, London!
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Stagecoach? STAGECOACH?! Ugh! I hate the movie theater/my birth year/my parents' desire to leave home this weekend...I hope you are right about the cylinders, JC. When next we see the Features, they may be London's new favourite band...

that was an awesome show, I've been wanting to hear stagecoach for a long time. stark white stork was cool to hear live, and it was the first time for me to hear, Situation Gone Bad and Harder to Ignore.

Very nice show. Thanks to my new identity I was able to get in to 12th and Porter for the first time in over a year. And it was well worth the trouble. The Features were on fire! I enjoyed every moment of the set. Harder to Ignore, Stagecoach, Someway Somehow were probabaly my favorites last night. It was a pleasant surprise to hear SWSA too.

Very nice to meet SOS, you can stand in front of me any time. I was serious about my offer for a place to stay. You really can't go that long without seeing The Features again. Hope you had a safe trip back to Memphis.

We decided to eat at 12th & P a couple of hours before the show. The next time the Features play there, the whole message board could meet and eat there. (A seven cheese pizza couldn't hold me back...)

I was good and wound-up by the time we walked in the play room, and so I was set to have a good time.

We did.

Token and I had never "danced" to Stark White Stork Approaching before, and I think it's a new favorite of mine.

Who was it who kept singing "Extension Cord"? When they did, I leaned forward and told Roger, "Don't do it, it's a trap!"

It was good to see everyone again. I finally met ghostflower!!

Wow. That show was some great fun. I was dancing like a madwoman. The Features rocked. My favorites last night were Look Out Below and That's the Way... . I also enjoyed Harder to Ignore a lot.

It was really, really nice to see Iwantelvis, havesomesoma, sexysadie, rachel, im1drwoman, smee, sina, keith, carligula, jamiecarroll, mike_D, deevol, and to meet ghostflower, smeeslittlepootie (Happy 21st Birthday!), and the Khautalas.

I am very proud of all of you underagers for getting in. Impressive. Well done!

I hope that August has plenty of shows. I want more.

first and foremost, it was SO good to meet all of you! I wish I had gotten to meet more people, but maybe next time. You probably think I was drunk, but no, I'm just a spaz. and thank you for your kind offer and I will take you up on it sometime. smile.gif

onto the show! I said this last night, and I will say it again. I didn't think Rollum could improve as a drummer, but holy shit; he . . . er . . . phenomenal. i would venture to say that despite the shortness of the set, this is was the best features show I've ever been to. just bc, man, they were so tight, matt didn't break a single string, or fall over, for the first time i think i really noticed what a great bass player roger is.
i always knew they sounded good, but i think their talent as individual musicians is really clear now.

my only complaint - i wish they had played bring on the night.

and rollum's kick ass drumming made him a little . . uptight? bitchy?
oh well, he's still hott.
thank you for being a friend.

last night was a wonderful time. i think it was more fun than usual just because i came not expecting to get in but did, thanks to my new cousin/step-sister sadie and company. everything was great. 'twas my second time seeing character, and they were quite enjoyable. those fellows sure do like to dance. the features were just a big bundle of goodness. "harder to ignore" is one of the best songs on the planet. i enjoyed the crowd sing-a-long to "extension cord," though i am sure that the band did not. and "stagecoach" is one of my (if not the) favorites. it was really really nice to meet SOS, even though the atmosphere did not allow for much conversation. i hope you get to come back soon. and i have to commend yadadada and token on their excellent dancing, as i was watching from afar. "look out below," "see you through" (extra props for the "and there's nothing left to say" move), and "SWSA" had to be my favorites out of what i saw.

my first 21 and over show......twas a great experience. i would have to say that this has been my favorite show this year. the band could not have been any tighter. a very well thought out set list. it seemed to flow very placing upbeat song and slow songs in their correct position. i aw alot of people i knew, if i didn't say hello to you, sorry. i still aknowledged that you were there. nice to see sexysadie, havesomesoma, and iwantelvis. glad you got in. highlights were singing extension chord and drinking guiness while wacthing ceeze sweat like a pig (ok maybe that wasn't pleasant but it was really fucking hot in there.) roger looks like jesus....nuff said. it was nice to finally meet sina and carligula and i finally met yadadada!!!!! great show. great set great times. i feel great........
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

He told me to shut up in Atlanta. I think he's in a new "angry" phase in his development as a drummer. As long as he keeps drumming like he does, he can tell me to go fuck myself & that will be fine with me. These reviews make me so very sad to not be in Nashville anymore, especially with Character opening. You lucky Stagecoach listeners!!

I'm pretty sure Blightman did. You can probably dig up his E-mail somewhere on the site if you try hard enough.

Did anyone see Freezetag's awesome poster design for the show? Rumor has it they'll be available for sale on the site. I would definitely buy it.

No, they weren't for sale at the show. She only made one poster. It was up at the merch table though. The deal was that if you wanted one, they were taking down e-mail addresses. Natalina or Rob will e-mail you back and arrange a transaction (I think they have a paypal account now). I think they'll probably sell them for about $10. It was a cool poster. She's really talented.

I was wondering what they were singing.

I am reminded of something from the world of Phish. They have a song called "Destiny Unbound" that is kind of a fan favorite, but (until this year) haven't played it in concert since 1991. People kept requesting it and requesting it. Finally Trey said that the only way they'd play it again was if the first two rows of the audience sang the first verse in unison. And in 1997, one audience finally pulled it off, but they still didn't play it.

You saw Blightman and Freezetag collecting their display model. You also saw me watching with a broken heart knowing I could not buy one then and there. I managed to buy the last EP they brought that night for a friend. Unfortunately, I had planned on buying two, but alas.

On a related note, the show was a BLAST. I think my favorite part of the set was SWSA -> Stagecoach. Neither song is one of my favorites, but it just sounded so perfect. I would like to see them use SWSA to intro more songs, preferably of a more "appropriate" subject matter, like That's the Way it's Meant to Be. Or have they already done that?

I realized two things at the show, both of which made me a little sad. Because The Features are now playing to more diverse audiences around the world, they are adopting the "leave them wanting more" philosophy. I fear that there may be fewer 1 hour+ sets in the future. Of course, this seems like the best approach for the band. It also means less frequent Nashville shows, so 1) they can play other cites more often, and 2) they can have an even more packed house than usual. This is pretty evident from friday's turnout after such a long hiatus. Once again, this just makes more sense for the band. It makes me a little sad, but it also makes me hopeful that they're on their way to getting some well-deserved recognition outside of Nashville.

I had a splendid time at the show. I'm glad my new step-sister/cousin Havesomesoma made it in. It was very nice to finally meet you, Stalker. You should definitely take up our offer if there are any Murfreesboro shows soon.

The Features were fantastic. I thought it was a wonderful, solid show. It only would have been better if they had done a rarity or two. I was very excited when someone shouted for "Damage is Done", and Rollum pointed at the person and said "Yes!" or something, so I got excited. But, of course, Matt decided he wanted to do "Action". But, that's okay. Next time maybe.

My real sister and I were discussing Roger's resemblence to the Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer...That is one hairy man.

If Matt is going to deny us our "Damage is Done" quota, he should at least explain to us why. Is it too personal? Is the chorus a strain to do? I want an explanation!

If Matt is going to deny us our "Damage is Done" quota, he should at least explain to us why. Is it too personal? Is the chorus a strain to do? I want an explanation!

That's dumb. How would you tell Rollum and Roger apart? Of course, calling Parrish P-dog has a certain charm to it...

i think it'd be easier to just leave roger with "R-dog" and to assign "Haas-dog" to rollum. and should it be "dog" or "dawg"? also, should we completely abandon the quite obvious "master p" for parrish? "p diddy" even?

At one point Token had to take my purse and throw it on the stage so I could REALLY dance! I had so so much fun by the way!

These things are probably all true, I just haven't met stopforme in person yet. I like to start things with stopforme because she's more than able to match nastiness with her own, and it's also usually funny to boot. Judging from my friendship history, it seems likely that we'd get along well. But, I did have to get mindylieu's back because she's so nice that she probably wouldn't do it herself.

If you haven't been introduced it is your own fault because he is so friendly, so you don't need me to introduce you. and yes, it is cool.
