TOPIC: 8-23-02 The Attic Setlist

Sorry folks, this is a setlist out of order, from memory, from someone that wasn't familiar with all the songs that were played. So here's most of what was played, in something approaching the right order, because I asked Matt for his setlist afterwards:

Circus
Walk You Home
Look Out Below
Demons
Kari-Ann
2x2
The Beginning
Temporary Blues
Darkroom
Buffalo Head
See You Through
Armani Suede (!)
God Save Rock 'n' Roll
Thursday

Apart from Temporary Blues (which I had never heard and could only be sure was played because Stephanie confirmed it) there was one more song that I didn't recognize at all. Other than that, I think this is what was played.

Overall, I may have enjoyed the show more than The Boro. I think that the performances were tighter and the sound was, later in the set, better. In a reverse of last night's experience (for me) the sound got better as the show went on tonight. Buffalo Head really shined as a highlight, along with 2x2. And who could forget Armani Suede, requested constantly by a loud fan until it was played (and based on when it was played and the setlist I got, it appears to have replaced 33 1/3 in the set - tough call which of those I'd rather have heard).

The crowd was a mixed bag. We had someone that replied to the Armani Suede requests with "A Rick James cover" requests, and "the cowgirl" that showed up for God Save Rock 'n' Roll and Thursday, well, I'd best let a certain other messageboarder tell you about her...

Actually, a guy I went to highschool with and hadn't seen since graduation was there, and was a big fan from their last visit to the attic. He's apparently been listening to a tape of that show regularly ever since, and Stephanie could tell you about his dancing (he was the guy in front of you Steph).

Pumped for Knoxville, and for whatever they do in Chicago this fall.

After browsing the lyrics section, I can tell that Moonlight (or what was once being called Moonlight) was also played.

Rick James? I thought the guy was yelling for James. You know, Laid.

My thoughts. The Features played very well. However I didn't have a good time. There is only so much harassment I can take from a drunk slut. Since I was too tired and frustrated to properly deal with her last night, here's what I should have said, "If I want to dance, I will. I certainly don't want to dance with you if I did want to dance. No I do not want to buy you a beer, you've had plenty. And in closing, you don't have to introduce me to every one of your slutty c-town friends. I can get laid on my own, it should not be your personal mission"

overall great show. it was a nice surprise to see temp blues thrown in there and the yelling for armani suede did not go unplayed. good crowd but with alot of drunk sluts. too many people kept asking me if they were local and "how do you know all the words?" the features brought the house and collected alot of new fans. thank for moonlight.
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

Alright. This was a great, great show. I loved every minute, but don't I always? The sound was good, and being in front of Matt didn't hurt anything. I was going on about 4 hours of sleep, plus I am the one who drove 5 of us down there. So, needless to say, I was a bit tired. Despite all that, I was still dancing like...how did you say it, Cautioner?...a coke addict.

But, if you wanted to see some real dancing, you should have checked out the various viewers in Chattanooga. Good Lord! One guy had on a gold helmet with a cardboard John Travolta and Bruce Willis cut-out from "Pulp Fiction" tucked in the back of his pants so that "they" could peek over his shoulder. Then, he continued to dance in front of me like crazy.

I will say that he wasn't the craziest one there. There was the guy who was obviously a fan (because he knew the words to most of the songs) who looked like he was seizuring. At one point Ceeze asked me where his medicine was. I was thinking the same thing. Damn. That kid was throwing elbows. I began on the left side of Shawn and ended up in front of him and to the right. I was in fear of getting a black eye.

Oh, and let me just mention the girls that wanted to dance up front as well. There was the one girl kept hitting on Chris, and who eventually asked me what my name was, if I had a boyfriend, and then to dance with her. Hmmm. PLUS, there was the girl who grabbed my hand during the beginning of show and made me break it down a little with her too.

Anyway, now that I have passed along these strange stories, I feel much better. I will let damon, Ceeze, and Cautioner speak of the people walking along the streets and my driving abilities (or lack thereof) as well as my keen sense of direction.

Would I drive back to Chattanooga to see the Features? After long and hard deliberation, I would say yes. But, ONLY for them.

The ghetto name I prefer for Chattanooga is "The Nooge." And trust me, C-Town or Nooge, you want nothing of this shithole. And sure you may think that the advances of the cowgirl described by ceeze would warrant the trip, but as someone that was standing next to her, its only more reason to stay away.

The Features are the only reason I could recommend coming to Chattanooga.
