Okay. The Blue Sky Court wasn't bad at all. It wasn't too hot inside, and the sound was pretty good. The crowd was pretty meager, but what can you expect, it's a new club. Lume was good, I thought. The Features were not so bad themselves. When was the last time you saw them open with 'Action'? The new song, 'Me & the Skirts', was straight-up rock'n'roll. I loved it and you will too. Another thing that I would like to point out: notice that they played The Beginning in its entirety and in order. This was rad. When was the last time you heard 'SWSA'? And let me tell you about 'Bumblebee'. This was not like the 'Bee' of 5-2-02 (not to take anything away from that one). This time, the song was well-rehearsed, and everyone seemed to know it. Consequently, the Features knocked it out of the park. It was so different than the recording. Done right, like it was tonight, it played out like the Features' own mini-epic, like the Who's 'A Quick One, While He's Away.' I look forward to seeing this one again. I will see you at the Boro.

Sina: Nice to meet you.
Rory & Featuresgirl: Nice job with the lights.

This night was unforgettable. First of all, I would just like to say that digsyslattery, iwantelvis, sexy sadie, a features virgin, and myself were the first people at the venue tonight. we were truly hardcore in our fandom. however, the doors werent open so we had to stand outside. then it started raining. the blue sky court representative at the door wouldnt let us in. however, Parrish, the saint that he is, saved us from a terrible cold or flu by letting us inside the venue. we heard their soundcheck (which was very cool, by the way). After about another hour of waiting, we finally got to see the show. First off, Lume. They werent that bad. Kinda catchy. Enjoyable to my ears. Then, what i had been waiting for,...THE FEATURES. I would just like to say that I think that the show tonight was BETTER than the almighty May 2 show. The band rocked so hard. it's great when you can tell that a band is enjoying themselves on stage and that they truly do appreciate every person who comes to see them. Truly breathtaking. Loved every song. Screamed until I lost my voice. Cant wait for the Boro. I will defintiely be one of the first people there...Fucking amazing.

Amazing set. Was it taped?

Really excited about "Me & the Skirts." Was it announced that it was just written (as Look Out Below was) in such a way that we can assume it wasn't recorded over the summer?

The "mini-epic" of The Beginning sounds incredible, I hope that it becomes a staple of their show, at least long enough for me to see it.

Indulge in your wealth of Features opportunities folks, some of us are not so lucky...

I just got up from my amazing night 21 minutes ago so I'm still in a state of "wow." I just...that was amazing. I have decided that it is the fourth best concert that I have seen EVER (after Oasis and my two Weez experiences). That was the best rendition of Thursday that I've ever heard. Rollum was a maniacal genius last night. He actually lost a drumstick and kept on going without missing a beat AND doing a dang fine job of covering both parts with ONE HAND. Rollum tossing paper wads and a plastic bottle at Roger during Matt's solo start of Thursday was hilarious. Matt was actually smiling and chuckling at Rollum. That rocked. And, the highlight of my night, hearing someone request "Oh My Love" to which I shrieked (in a very "light-bulb-coming-on-in-the-head" tone) "OoooOOh MY luuuv" and then it was played. I heard Temprorary Blues...I just...it really seemed like they said "screw the setlist, let's give these fans what they want."

I cannot imagine how awesome Thursday night will be. The Features keep on getting better and better...I just don't know how they do it. Thursday IS the only day that I've been looking forward to.

The show was simply "wow." I finally got to meet some of the people from the board and The Features rocked out completely. I'll put aside all the raving about the songs because a lot of it has already been done, but wow. I cant wait for next week's show.

Hey look at me... I'm posting! I thought the show was awesome minus the fact I could hear nothing from Roger's mic... except his EP sales pitch. There is nothing sadder than seeing a grown man's maraca muted. Also, where was "There's more to life than living" from The Design? Did anyone else feel cheated? Cub11... 4 Posts

Hi Cub11.

Unfortunately, ample volume on Roger's vocals is usually the exception and not the rule at Features shows. Usually you can hear the maraca, though.

As far as the lyrics on the chorus of 'The Design' go, the way it is now (no 'more to life than living') is the way it originally was. It was changed to the way that you mentioned, and has since been changed back to the original lyrics.

The evolution of a Features song would make a great video for the website. Maybe take a new song (Me & The Skirts maybe which, by the way, i have stuck in my head and I really really want to hear again) and follow it through rehearsals, lyric changes, and the debut or the live performance or something. I think that would be quite cool, a nice look into how the Features work.

The show was simply amazing. I believe I would have to rank it #3 on my lists of concerts (third only to my two Strokes experiences). It beat out the May 2nd show, in my opinion. I have never seen them play better. I am still in a state of amazement. Being the first people there and standing in the rain for half an hour certainly pays off. I cannot wait until Thursday. My God, that was good.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

I should have just waited there with you all. I got there super early (7:30 or so) and walked in... since I never had been there before and went back to my car and waited until somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00. At least I'll have people to talk to Thursday.

Ah, Friday night's show...

Personally, I thought it was GREAT that they played all of The Beginning EP in order. He started with SWSA, and I got all excited. After they started Bumblebee, which I must say was very nicely played, I knew for sure that The Beginning and Two By Two were going to follow. I thought that idea was great.

Overall, I was really pleased with the show. Like the others, I would have to say that the show was one of the best I have seen. It's too bad I don't get to attend the show on Thursday..Ugh. I hate attendance policies. I hope you all have a great time, though.

Hmmmm...let's see, how do we put it into words? I got there fairly early. I was a bit tired, so I sat in the back next to the sound board during Lume and caught a nap (much to StephanieW's amusement). It's not the fault of the band, it's just that I have a habit of sleeping during opening acts sometimes. I moved down front for the show, and that woke me up.

The show was great. I liked the long set--but I wanted it to include a few songs. Where was "Idea..." and "Blow It Out"? Oh well, I guess. The Beginning EP in its entirety was a really nice touch. I was hoping they'd do something really crazy after that like play all of the original EP in its entirety...but in the end that's a bad idea. It was still probably what made the show most memorable. I was glad to hear Bumblebee especially. "Me & the Skirts" is a nice new touch. If they're all supposed to sing, they need to make a noticeable difference in the sound when they do.

I will say that I'm noticing that this board is truly serving its purpose in bringing Features fans together as I see more and more people just walking up to each other and greeting and talking about the show while there. I was a bit quiet, so I only talked to a couple of you. I positively identified several others of you just because I was with TF and SW, and they talked to just about every body. It was good to talk to BrianW and meet him. JC, e-mail me regarding the Christmas show.

This one would've been a good one for a recording, but it didn't cross my mind to bring my stuff. Alas.

The night was topped off by having the car towed away and having to wait to be picked up. Thanks Keith and co. This did lead to a little conversation with Mr. Pelham after the show, in which I learned a little more info about their plans for recording and all that.

Sadly, I can't make the Boro show.

Some notes from the show:
-Thumbs down to Blue Sky Court. It's a lot (yes, "a lot" is two words) nicer than The 8th Day was, but the sound still sucked. No bass, little vocals. Also, the parking situation resulted in a $115 worth of towing (nice waiting with you YDDD). Stick with 12th and Porter for now Features.

-Bumblebee was awesome. This should be in the regular rotation now that it is arranged the way it is. It was a nice change of pace, but it still rocked.

-Any show that opens with Action is a good show.

-Me and the Skirts is one of those songs that you like the very first time you hear it. Usually it takes me a few listens to "get" the song, but this one got me from the beginning.

-Nice to meet you Ray Davies, Digsy, and HaveSomeSoma (sorry if I'm leaving anyone out).
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

In response to all Keith said, I thought Blue Sky was OK, but not great. I was up front for the Features and could hear everything well, but in the back where I was sleeping, the parts I heard of Lume sounded muffled. I like 12th & Porter a lot, but it's not good for the crowds the Features draw.

WIth the A-Side being what?

Just a 7"? Only 2 songs? Alas, no full length seems to be in the stars... I was really liking that "album of new stuff, ep of older stuff" idea that was flying around a month ago.

YDDD is right, one can easily learn the value of patience after waiting since '97 for a full length.

What would be wrong with Ray's other arm? As long as he has one good arm, he should wipe his own ass.

Perhaps Rollum's rusty hammer (featured in Roger's candle video) could be used to do the arm breaking.

I'm just psyched to hear what the studio version of Buffalo Head sounds like, as well as the other new songs. I don't care if it takes another 4-6 months for a great album as long as we get the 10" and the EP to hold us over.

It would seem that the 10" is taking the place of the rumoured EP.

Oh...

Um...well new Features material is new Feautres material. I'll take whatever I can get. I mean, the 12th & Porter show (Thanks Wiyum & Blightman) has not left my stereo since I burned it to a CD.
