I'm ashamed to admit that I hadn't seen The Features in quite a while, but I was more than happy to see them last night. I drove down with my brother (who has never seen them before) and met up with an old high school friend (who also has never seen them before).

I was happy to be reassured that a bit of dancing hasn't left me, and I was also happy to hear everyone chanting along with them. My brother and friend stayed toward the back, and they said that the crowd was larger for The Features. I was in the front, so I can't confirm.

Oh! And, it was good to see a few fellow board members. I spotted DigsySlattery and had a mini conversation with him, and I saw HaveSomeSoma but couldn't wade through the wall of people standing behind her (since she was standing in front of the stage). As always, it was good to see Mindylieu, too. Ok, that's all the credits.

Overall, excellent show, lots of energy, great crowd participation (especially with singing). And, as I told DS, I plan on attending at least two of their shows in the very near future. My supervisor at work will just deal with all the time I'm going to ask off.

Really good show, really long for an opening act. It was more like a double-headliner thing, which was fine by me. "Wooden Heart" is a great song and "I Will Wander" gets better and better. I don't know how anyone could not like "Concrete"; that song rules. "Now You Know" hasn't grown on me that much. It's an okay song, but it's not up to snuff with the others.

And I don't like the Walkmen. I like "The Rat" and "We've Been Had" so it was nice to hear those. I just don't really get it, I guess.

guys, get this: the features began playing at 8:45pm!!! holy cow! that's so early! they played for about an hour and the walkmen took the stage 20 minutes later. seriously, that was enough time to watch like 6 episodes of "lost" before going to bed. amazing!

the show was good. i got a lot of joy out of seeing the army of frat guys in front of the stage with their arms thrown around each other, swaying, and screaming the lyrics to "idea of growing old" and every other exhibit a song back to matt. you know, i know we're all pretty tired of hearing those songs, but when i see people reacting like that, i know it would be a complete asshole move for the band to deny those dudes of their enjoyment. the new songs are still so good.

god, i love the walkmen. they played about 70% new stuff, i'd say. i love the walkmen.

what an awesome show!

i see someone else noticed the amount of frat boys. i was so surprised to see so many guys there. i'm so used to more girls than guys.

it was a cool venue too. the right size and not too smoky. after the show, we talked to some people and then went to dance in "tonic" (?) and then drove back to nashville the next day. was very fun.

it did seem like a lot of people there for the walkmen were impressed with the features, i saw some people buy the album before the left.. that's always good!

their lead singer sounds like rod stewart to me....obviously rod stewart singing a different kind of music, but alike.

you know, a rod stewart song was playing in every gas station we stopped at on this trip. and now you mention him in this thread. what does it all mean?!

reguardless, i like rod stewart. but probably not as much as i like the walkmen (who are playing the exit/in on friday 06/23/06).
