great show, but it wasn't without it's problems. I'll give you the rundown: 30 seconds into "Circus" (the opening song) and one of matt's strings breaks. The band shrug it off in Features fashion as matt switches guitars and the song gets a nice minute-long jam session thrown into the middle with rollum providing the entertainment. Problem solved.

Then we get to about the 5th song and roger's bass screws up. the song continues and he switches to his backup. a little while later and a string on his backup flies off. Go figure.

But other than that, the show was just incredible. they played a new song that was pretty cool. I tried to get them to play "Armani Suede," but that didn't pan out. Matt said afterward that it had been too long since they played it. Oh well.

rollum gave me a nasty look when i yelled for armani. i don't think he likes to play it anymore...

i got a soundboard recording like i had hoped. the sound guy was really nice. it turned out ok, but somehow a couple of songs didn't make it (like the first 2 or 3). also, i think i just got matt's mic, because you can hear vocals VERY well, but the rest of the band sounds far away.

all in all it was a great set. if someone doesn't put up a setlist in the next day or so, i'll figure it out from the recording.

it was nice to meet stephanie, and i hope you had a safe trip back to jc.

i'll post more when it's not so late. great show!

Either you haven't been to many Features shows, or you haven't been seeing them for very long. Recent shows have been better, but over all, a broken string or two is par for the course in the long run.

Glad to hear the recording was gotten, BoF.

My first show since Slow Bar, and I loved it (as expected). The Features are continuously spectacular, and I NEEDED this show. Thanks again to them! It was also nice to meet up with BOF and his friends. You're all quite nice. I hope that they were turned onto The Features officially. And, yes, I obviously made it home alright....extremely tired, but alright.

The opening band was pretty decent, and the lead singer certainly had energy (which I enjoyed).

Overall, great show. I tend to like it when little problems are encountered, so last night was just fine for me. I like to see how people fix technicalities, and they certainly did it nicely. Bravo.

Setlist:
Circus
Walk You Home
Me and the Skirts
That's the Way it's Meant to Be
Lookout Below
Exhibit A
Harder to Ignore
(Intermission)
Exorcising Demons
Leave It All Behind
Buffalohead
There's a Million Ways to Sing the Blues
New Song
Situation Gone Bad
Thursday

Encores:
The Beginning (Week One)
See You Through
God Save Rock and Roll

the mishaps of this show were certainly more abundant than usual. so much that there was a 10 minute "intermission" for them to re-string roger's bass. this happened after matt broke strings on 2 different guitars. in the end, roger had to borrow a bass for the last part of the concert. i hope whatever the future holds for the features includes an equipment upgrade, even though stuff like matt's duct taped guitar strap makes him that much more hardcore.

of course, none of this had a negative effect on the show.

Now that the tuning problems seem to have been solved, I think their equipment is fine. It's just normal wear and tear on them to break every so often. They just don't have roadies to change them every week like bigger acts.

I've mentioned it many times before, but a Mike Watt concert is worth the price of admission if he breaks a bass string and changes it without stopping a song.

actually, YaDa, i haven't been to many features shows. the shows they play in my immediate area are usually 21+. But in conversations with other fans, 10 minute intermissions halfway through a set must be decidedly uncommon, b/c they never seem to come up. A good guess, but just a tiny bit pretentious. ph34r.gif

In regards to the opening band Wednesday night (The Rockwells) I think they were more than pretty decent personally. I thought they were GEAT! However, this was my first Features show and I look forward to seeing them alot more. I had heard great things about them from The Rockwells, and they were oh so true.

I don't know, pretty good maybe, but from all accounts they were by no means GEAT!
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Hey guys,

Just wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and comment that the show at Blue Cats was great. I'm a friend of Bowl of Fire and he dragged me to the Feature's show at Fairbanks last year which was also incredible.

Bowl of Fire's not exaggerating about that look he got from Rollum it was seriously a "LOOK OF DEATH." Armani kicks ass!
Bill, it was a different time. It was back when we didn't know the Russians were incompetent.

I agree with MrLittleJeans, but I'm biased, because I've thought you always to be an ass.
