hey everyone,
here's a post from the bowlie.com messageboard that our friend john posted about the features last night:

Dublin Castle
Cor BLIMEY, Guv'nor!!! Worra BAND!!!!!

They're playing Notting Hill Arts Centre tonight, and The Metro Club on Thursday, and I'm tempted to do at least Thursday. Think I'll be a bit knackered tonight.

The drummer deserves a MEDAL

AND

You missed a TREAT, Sharon. Mind, so did Kismet - they were rather late coming on, and he was understandably worried about missing the last tube. I thought they were so ace that me and Helen took the chance, and fortunately managed to get home on the pink line

The first band we saw were about to finish their set - somewhat mercifully, as they were doing a cover of "Holding Back the Years" in the style of Travis - and then The Vessels started OK and got better and better. Superb - they really won us over, and apparently they have an album out, which I'm definitely going to try and find.

The Features' singer looks a bit like Phil Collins with hair, and he screams a lot, and the bassist and the keyboardist have big beards, and the drummer has a kind of fratboy look, and appears to be clinically insane when he plays. Which is good.

They didn't do "Dark Room" (the one track I know), but I would venture to suggest that everything they did was rather better! A real incendiary set, and the sound was superb, all but for the last song, when I think his guitar went out a bit, but it was a small price to pay. I'm very seriously considering going to the Metro on Thursday now - and you MUST see them in September, wherever it is they're playing

You must find more information. I need setlists, number of people in the crowd, paraphrasing of stage banter, and answers to the following questions:

Did warm beer flow like the mighty Thames?
Were Prince Willy and/or Harry in the audience?
Did Matt, at any point, "Bend it Like Beckham"?
Exactly what frat is Rollum in?
Was Roger suspected of being a terrorist at the airport?
Is Parrish now infected with either the plague or the metric system?
Are The Features the new "It" band from America yet?
I am a horse with no name.

HA! This confirms my belief that Matt looks exactly like my dad did when my dad was in his twenties. Because now my dad looks exactly like Phil Collins.

british features fans are cool because they use big words like "incendiary"

That's what I was thinking. I didn't even understand the first paragraph of that review, and thought it might be someone doing a fake british review. I'm pretty sure I know what a 'tube' is, but what is a 'pink line'?

I knew the Brits would luv our chaps. They always have top taste in tunes. Cheerio!

Apparently a "frat" means something different in Britain... or their frat boys have a totally different look than ours do. Maybe they mistook him for a frat boy simply because he has nice teeth?

The Tube is the subway in London. The different routes are color-coded.

I believe The Beginning comes out sometime around then and they'd (they being The Features and Fierce Panda) like to play a show or two in support of it.

That's what I heard at least. Nothing set in stone as of yet.

Hmm, frat boys must look different in Britain, unless Rollum was sporting his Abercrombie & Fitch shirt that he wears ALL of the time. I bet he started smoking Marlboro Lights as well.

I can't decide whom to be more jealous of - the Features for getting to enjoy lovely London or the Londeners for getting to enjoy the lovely Features.

i'd say the londeners, not only do they get to hear the features, but they also get to enjoy "lovely london"
