Holy shit. Amazing night. I can't make my brain process details right now but it was an incredible show. The set seemed a little short, but it was great. Nice to hear new song "Mosis Ptosis" (trademark: Carligula 2004), as well as all the old favorites. WONDERFUL meeting Mindylieu, Misguided Fool, and Mindy's badass mom. Good seeing StephanieW again too.

Highs:
Dinner with Roger, Mindy, Mindy's mom and brothers at Barley's before the show.
Chatting it up with Matt about how The Beginning is at Wal-Mart, therefore his mom will see it.
The show (too amazing for words). The boys were "on" tonight, no doubt.
Chatting it up with the band after the show, getting pictures with them (like total geeks) and hearing Rollum talk about some of the British shows.

Lows:
Short setlist

These guys rock, and I'm totally excited about their current and upcoming releases. Look out, world!

The Way Its Meant To Be
Me and the Skirts
Walk You Home

Wonderful show! I had the best time. It was a short setlist, it seemed like the opening bands played longer than the Features, but maybe that was just me waiting in anticipation. I didn't get to meet anyone from the message board, perhaps b/c I camped out near the stairs with James Riot to get the "full view" of the band. I do a great job of "blending in" so no one notices me. I can't wait until the next show. I'll see you all then and hopefully meet some of you.

Last night's show was great! They rocked. The sound at Blue Cats sucks though. It was a short show, but hey Ill take any show from The Features. They are the GREATEST.

The sound at Blue Cats sucks though.
Wish we could completely blame it on the sound at Blue Cats (which is never good) but I think last night the sound guy was to blame. Just a little theory of mine. I mean, c'mon, they have never "sounded" that horrible. The bass was tickling my feet and Matt was screaming just to hear himself. The sound guy has done sound for them enough to know what they should sound like and last night was the worst "sounding" experience. He should have known the bass (overall, not roger's) was just a bit too loud. EVERYBODY noticed so you can't tell me the sound guy didn't. Oh well, it reflects poorly on him, not the band. But I do think Universal should know the band they are showcasing is getting poor sound quality at some venues and perhaps the band could get a professional sound person for all shows. I know they have talked about it, but where is this person?

Ok, enough ranting. Time for raving! Despite the horrible sound and the drunk guys trying to dance with me and touch various body parts, the show was amazing!!!!!!!!! I was excited for my family to see how badass the features are. They were surprised to see how much Roger-the sweet, calm, laid back guy they are used to-can rock!!!! It was awesome to see Stephanie and meet her friend. I had a BLAST at Barley's meeting BOF and Herman. And anytime I can get my mom to boogie is awesome!!!! I enjoyed the "opening band", Jamie Hartford (John Hartford's son) at Barley's. I really wanted to see WSDD, but I missed the show due to lack of communication. Uggh. Did anyone see them? Were they good?

Did anyone else see Brian Bell?

I am glad everyone made it home safe because while we were in Barley's someone was carjacked at gunpoint. Yikes!

I had so much fun at this show! It was great meeting all you guys and talking to Stephanie for a little while!

I was way disappointed in the sound, but I know it wasn't the features fault. I still love hearing the new songs. I didn't like Love Is Golden all that much, but now I am starting to really like hearing it live.

This was definitely the highlight of my spring break!

yay... hi martyne13! wub.gif

Wow. Rock your face off is right. Amazing energy last night with a great (although brief) setlist. The soundguy didn't have his head on straight, but once the band got going, I didn't care. I had a fantastic time at Barley's meeting Roger and mindylieu. Mindylieu, thanks so much for inviting us. I hope we didn't impose on your family. And it was also great to finally meet Stephanie and misguided fool. I'm also super appreciative about the band being totally cool about having pictures with me, I'm such a dork.

Mindylieu, don't forget to dance cheek to cheek!

Bill, it was a different time. It was back when we didn't know the Russians were incompetent.

Outstanding show, but I know it's already been said. As always, it's fun meeting up with fellow Features fans. Standing with misguided fool made me feel much less weird for my "dancing" since she moves her head around quite a bit, too. (My neck is actually hurting today.) It was nice to meet up with Bowl of Fire and Herman again, and seeing Mindylieu is always fun.

Senryu - Eh. It was my first time seeing them, and I suppose I'm just indifferent. I will say that they have quite a little following, though.
WSDD - I liked them. LW told me that I would, and he's usually right when he says that. This time followed suit.

I honestly can't wait until the next show I get to attend in Nashville or Murfreesboro. I miss you guys tons. Seeing some messageboard buddies last night made me feel sad that I haven't gotten to see many of you in a long time. But, that's OK. I've asked for Belmont's show. And, I will ask for MTSU's, too.

This is Wil Wright from Senryu. Just wanted to thank you all for coming to Knoxville to rock with the Features. This was the first show for 3 new members of Senryu, and it was nice to show them what an amazing band and amazing fans look like. I realize we don't really appeal to all of you, but it is always a thrill to play in front of such awesome fans, and always a thrill to share the stage with a band like The Features. Thanks.

It's just the first thing that popped into my head when you said that your mom and family was out there dancing. I guess projecting you and your vibe onto your parents...

putting down the garden spade for the big ass steam shovel You don't have a Stevie vibe per se... just that you could come from one.

Mental note: This is the last time you listen to voice number 329 in your head...
