TOPIC: Memphis last night!
Posted  Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 10:25 AM
Post 1 of 30
Hey y'all,
Just wanted to express my sincere and utmost gratitude to the band for making the trek to Memphis last night! Though brief, the show was amazing! Matt said something about the blowing-out of the tire en route being a bad omen for Memphis, but I hope that you had a good enough experience that you'll come back, (sooner than three years from now?). The only other time I saw you was in Nashville at the Exit-In last year, when the amp blew out. If you'd played Blow it Out last night I might have wondered if this was just your way of being cute...
I also think it is a good idea to bring Murfreesboro dancing guy with you to all your shows -- he definitely complements the experience! Yay for rocking out to the Features!
Thanks again, you guys are the BEST!

I think he was referring to the "Memphrica" incident of '06.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

Well, I thought all that was cleared up. Usually, I put things behind me after they happen. Dwelling on things isn't very healthy. See: My Promise, first post I made when the board came back up.

i believe the exact quote is: "I guess if the Features want to get robbed and murdered, they’ll play in Memphrica — I mean, Memphis."

sorry dude. i don't think you got scolded enough, so i had to bring it back up.

Anyone know the songs that were played? A set-list or something? Curious about the brevity of the show...

Does anyone plan on talking about the Memphis show at all? I'm sure the five of you who really care what I say can start a thread in the "Misc." section to discuss what I say. It seems we're off topic, and creating a topic specific to my hatred for minorities in relation to large metropolitan areas would probably solve this problem. Furthermore, for those of you who don't vote, but insist on making references to politics, August 3rd was my election. It's now over, so references to it are somewhat anachronistic. Hell, you think you guys could find something entertaining to talk about.

Oh, and for the many of you who are not sure what the definition of racism is:

1. a belief or doctrine that inherent differences among the various human races determine cultural or individual achievement, usually involving the idea that one's own race is superior and has the right to rule others.
2. a policy, system of government, etc., based upon or fostering such a doctrine; discrimination.
3. hatred or intolerance of another race or other races.

Commenting that a city with a larger population of blacks than whites is certainly not racist - and noting that black people come from Africa is a factual statement. Now, if I had called it a "Chocolate City" - well. And I didn't see one of you say anything about Ray Nagin.

This bunch is probably the same group who thinks anyone who rings your doorbell is a solicitor.

if it wasn't a racist remark, why did you have to point out one race on top of another? to ME, that's racist.. and i said to me.

now, as a proud new orleanian, i don't agree with what ray nagin said. do i understand things can just come out wrong, yeah? if any one of us were faced with a major crisis and had to look out for any number of people, we wouldn't be thinking clearly or verbally communicating clearly.

and i vote, thanks. therefore i CAN bitch. i don't think anyone made comments about your so-far failed political career, just that you sounded like a politician.

One race on top of another? What does that even mean?

And you can't explain away Nagin's racism - he had four days to figure out what he was going to say when he was cowering in a hotel room.

And anyone who says anything about politics when referring to me has obviously followed the link to my site - it's happened on here before, so anyone who can read has figured it out. 45% of the vote against a 16 year incumbent - and picking up a job as campaign coordinator for a house race hardly qualifies as a failure.

Get a life, shit. I don't sit around thinking of ways to attack you personally, and I would appreciate it if the few of you who make it a point to talk about me would stop. The last time I checked, this forum was about the Features - not about me.

didn't point out one race? you repeatedly referred to memphis as having a large black population? what was the point in saying that? there was none. it doesn't change anything if you said they had a large black population, asian population, or alien population.

four days, so what. he was giving a speech and got passionate about it and something slipped again. don't agree with it, but it happens. he recovered and got re-elected. as much as i would have loved landriue to have been elected, didn't happen. i accept that.

and that's kind of cocky to think that everyone here sits around and thinks.. "hmm.. how can i insult matthew-cc-hurtt today? what would hurt him the most? oooh i know!!!!" atleast i don't do that.. and i give everyone else credit here that they don't do that either.

yes, it is a features forum as you pointed out. it has ALWAYS been a features forum.. so why the alternative name for memphis in the first place? it was a features forum then, just as it is now.

I have found that the following cities are "Chocolate Cities":

"There's a lot of chocolate cities, around
We've got Newark, we've got Gary
Somebody told me we got L.A.
And we're working on Atlanta
But you're the capital, CC"

It is assumed the CC refers to DC. No report on whether or not the mayors of these cities intend to keep them Chocolate. I also hope this doesn't mean George Clinton is a racist. A revelation like that would put a damper on Clinton's dream of making this "one nation under a groove" and would certainly keep us as citizens of said nation from "gettin' down just for the funk of it".

I realize that the election is over, but I'm assuming that you plan on running for office again at some point, so you're still a politician in my book. I mean, you haven't given up on politics already, have you? Don't let a bunch of level-headed, anti-racist schmucks like us discourage you from pursuing your dreams.

no no no, you've got it all wrong, ds. we COULDN'T care less. couldN'T. have i taught you nothing?

as much as i LOVE reading shit like this on my break at work, it's really a lot simpler than it's being made out to be. he used an inappropriate nickname for a city (already insulting to the black popluation) and then insinuated that said population would likely murder the features (because, duh, black people always commit a ton of crimes). so you see, even with the multiple trips to thesaurus.com to fluff up your "comeback posts," there's really no room to wiggle out of your statement. i'm sure the honorable thing to do would be to admit that you were wrong, but that's a laughable concept.

I always thought "I could care less" was meant to be sarcastic and therefore is the correct way of saying it. I could be wrong. Or I couldn't be wrong.

Actually, I was using the phrase "I could care less" for the simple benefit of raising HSS's ire.
