I was at the Borgata show as well and I have to say I was quite surprised by The Features. I figured that the opener wasn't going to be that good, but boy was I wrong. I have to say from a show perspective I think The Features put on the better show than Kings Of Leon. Don't get me wrong KOL rocked, but they just came on stage, didn't really engage the audience, hammered out their catalog and left for the night. The Features rocked as well, but also engaged the audience and they had so much energy. They definitely won over a new fan. My only disappointment is that the Exhibit A album did not sound as good as they do live. Don't get me wrong I like the album (I bought the EP as well), but man is it better live. KOL sound pretty much exactly they way they do on the album as they do live, but the Features man what a difference live makes. Somebody needs to get The Features to lay down a live recording, because this is definitely where they shine. I now have to go look for bootlegs of these guys.
i'll have to second that emotion...their music live is amazing. only, when i saw them opening with kol here in nashville i left when the kings hit the stage.
i moved to nashville in summer '04. the weekend i was moving in (into downtown) i noticed people heading to the riverfront. i found out it was a concert so the boy and i headed on over as respite from hauling boxes. we arrived during the first band and paid some attention, then the features came on and i was rapt. i have never been hooked so early by a band. my boyfriend kept trying to talk to me during their set and i kept waving my hand at him and telling him to be quiet. anywho, cheers to those of you who have known about them and enjoyed their music for years. i have felt motivated to spread their music among friends and family since i first heard them and have been quite successful in my efforts, but i find that when i take someone to a live show they are sold.
as for engaging the audience...i've seen them several times in nashville over the last year, but when i was visiting a friend in atlanta we hit the show at the earl and they were a bit more, i don't know...high energy?. or i was just drunker than usual. both are most likely true, but regardless, the show was great. i did recognize some faces from nashville, so if you're on the board, maybe you can comment.
and while i'm dragging this post on with my stream on consciousness...i have some decent pics from the april 1st show at the exit/in. is there picture posting protocol (i love alliteration) or a place where i should post them (assuming anyone cares to see them)?
