The Features blew the roof of The Dame on Sept 18. playing a long set that included an amazing encore. The crowd wae was electrified. Possibly helped by a group of loyal fans that drove up from murfeesboro to see them here in lexington. Also on the Bill were The Coke Dares and Giants! of Industry. The Coke Dares played something like thirty songs in thirty minutes; totally high energy punk rock. My band, Giants! of Industry played an hour and I was really excited by the crowd response considering it was only our second show at The Dame. It was a real great experience opening for The Features. I would like to thank all of you who came from Tenn for the show for your support and positive comments. And for that one guy who got kicked out for being a little to rowdy, I'm sorry, anytime you and your friends want to come see us up here just let me know and I'll get you on ther list. Thanks again for caring about music more than scene the kids here could learn a lot from you.

Welcome, indeed. I was aiming to go to that show when it was going to be on Friday night. But then they changed it and I had previous plans for Saturday night.

Take the "!" out of your band name. Trust me.

But without the "!" how will people know that we are pretentious art rock
(tongue currently in cheek)

Try applying the "!" phonetically as you say our name:

GIANTS of Industry

Now repeat with the outrageous accent of your choice, I suggest either british aristocrate or 1930's newsfilm narrator (that one is my favorite!)

Thats fun isn't it? Just let yourself go and you will see. There is nothing like wallowing in the filthy joy of your own Irony

I could have used a "?" maybe that would have been more app. lets try:

Giants? of Industry... it feels unsure, like a boy with glasses and an ill fitting hand me down suite at his first school dance with stiff arms and sweaty palms... well that may actually be a better description of what we sound like...it's a better description of my youth thats for sure

How about a name with an internet tie in like:

Giants@Industry.com.net.gov.org

that might boost our profile considering how important your name is and as far as I know no one has done that yet so it may be for the best. I would hate for anyone to think we were unoriginal trend following sheep BEFORE they heard us play...they can find that out at the show.

Just because you call it art doesn't make it art, it has to be in a gallery first.

Everything beautiful is strange

As told by Carrie Brownstien, one of the greatest and most inovative guitarist living and working today and personal hero of mine:

'Corin left a message for me one day saying that we would call ourselves "Sleater-Kinney". Up until that moment it had only been a road in a neighboring town. Now it was us. If band names were like baby names, we had picked a Gilbert or Sinclair or Beatrice. When we said, "We've picked out a name", we always got a "Hmm", or a head scratch, or a comment as soon as we left the room, like "that poor kid will be teased endlessly". Never listen to other people's advice about your band name. Otherwise, you will end up with an Ashley, or a Madison.'

I apologize to all this offends, I know many ashleys and some of them are great people.

Hippie=Yuppie / Punk=Hippie / Yuppie=Punk

Sleater-Kinney is a terrible band name.
