How come when I go to see the Features, the opener's set is always too long...just like a full set...sometimes even two openers, and yet when the Features open, they play 8 songs and get out of there?

Let's face it: the Features are lazy.

I think it's admirable actually. The Features don't step on the headlining band's funk, as George Clinton would say. I wish other bands were as considerate.

My reasoning is actually the opposite: The Features have so much material that any opening act can play as long as they want and there is no way The Features will feel threatened because they can always play a set literally 2 or 3 times as long. Meanwhile, most bands that The Features open for don't want them to play too long, because they can't play a show of that length.

You know, it made sense in my head, but I'm not sure if it made it into words properly.

I think their set was short because they didn't want to be out too late. Aren't all of their shows at the Earl really short? I think it's because they drive home after the show. When they headlined there, the set was only 13 songs, which really isn't much better than 8.

I think that's usually true, but this time they only had to go to Athens. I tried for a private aftershow, but to no avail. Despite the shortness, we all had an excellent time, especially seeing Nashvillians showing Atlantans how to enjoy rock n roll. I did hear a rumor, though, that brianeno2 came but left without seeing the band because he wasn't on the guest list! This is what happens when the Holy Daigle is not running things, I guess.

What?!! Oh man, the Features need to step back and take a good hard look at their priorities. I mean, I know they're like, famous in England now and whatever, but...this type of injustice WILL NOT be tolerated.

Maybe that's what "Pants Getting Tighter" is about (I know, "Harder to Ignore", but I think the original title was snazzier).
