It is the only Jim Carrey film I can handle. Everything from Ben Stiller crying about an Asian gang to Owen Wilson's cameo as the victim of a bathroom beating is amazing. Yet everyone makes fun of me when I say this movie is comic genius. I have no supporters on this one. Please someone back me up.

Right on! The truth of the matter is, I divide people into Cable Guy lovers and non-Cable Guy lovers. It is my ultimate litmus test. Welcome to my world.

The Cable Guy makes me uncomfortable. I used to have a friend just like Jim Carrey's character, and the situation played out alot like the one in that movie. It was not a good situation at all.

I guess my favorite Carrey movie would be Dumb and Dumber. The Truman Show was pretty good, wasn't it? I don't remember much about it, but the concept was interesting, anyway.

I TOTALLY AGREE!

Yeah I guess "cameo" isn't the right term since it was only his second film or something. His "role" as the victim of a bathroom beating I mean.

Cable Guy is awesome, but only if you have the right circle of friends to constantly quote it (But Steven, I made scrambie eggs!). Any movie with Ben and Owen can not be bad.

Yay. I don't think there's any way I could not like Cable Guy when it has Jim, Matthew, Ben, and Owen in it.

And by the way, I love Jim Carrey. Dumb and Dumber is one of my favorite movies of all time. It is too good.

I thought it was funny as hell. Even with a sub-par script, those two are hilarious.

I saw it last night and I was quite pleased with it. It was refreshing to see a comedy that didn't use vomit, poo, or any other bodily fluid for jokes. Ben and Owen Wilson are just hilarious no matter what. I recommend it.

A friend of mine (who works with Peace Frog) was working on a script for a short film about a dodgeball showdown a few years back. He said Stiller had shown interest in his script. As I understand it, he had already come up with the dodgeball movie concept, but he wanted to see what Matt had written. Unfortunately, nothing came of it. It's cool to see he's finally getting around to it, though. Maybe Matt will be able to sue him...

Speaking of dodgeball, who saw the dodgeball episode of Average Joe 2 a few weeks back? Holy shit, that was funny stuff.

the upcoming Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn Dodgeball movie is one im really excited about.
They have this huge cardboard cutout promoting this movie at our local theater and I just started laughing. Ben Stiller is wearing this ridiculous mustache that makes it look like he just walked straight off the Starsky and Hutch set.

Speaking of dodgeball, why would anyone want to ban such a great sport? I was always good at it, and I was the fat kid. All you have to do is use your team as a human shield and put your A game on when everyone else is out. What a great game.

That cutout was put up this weekend. It is very large and definitely in charge. I love movies where Ben Stiller gets to be more of a character (Zoolander, Starsky & Hutch) than his Meet The Parents persona (like in Duplex and Along Came Polly). How many movies does he do back to back? He's had three out in the past 9 months and three coming out in the next couple months. Does he ever work? Does he ever tend to Christine "Melody" Taylor's wishes?

Man, this is like AA or something. I'm Lauren, and I loved The Cable Guy. The darkness & squirminess of it all made it brilliant. I do admit to loving anything with Owen in it, though. Except Shanghai Noon, although Shanghai Nights was not so bad. I also have had a crush on Matthew Broderick since 1986.

I thought Starsky & Hutch was worth the $7.75. DO IT was fucking hilarious & Vince Vaughn was perfect.

i think that "cable guy" is just that movie that is used as an example of suck, like "man, that movie really blew! looks like adam sandler pulled a cable guy!" i think this is only because the movie isn't as mindlessly laugh-out-loud funny as other jim carrey movies (not that the others are bad). and that to the general public equals bad.

i like it a lot. the scene where he's pretending to leave is probably my favorite.

as for starsky and hutch, i was pleasantly surprised. it was actually funny. my favorite parts were the dragon and the dance-off. but, man, that end scene was totally gay.

Snoop Dogg is a surpisingly good actor. Still, I don't think he'd do to well in a role not involving pimps, hos, crack, weed, smack, strippers, or grass.

I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind last night. I wasn't that impressed. Visually it was cool but the story lost me at points, especially with the Kirsten Dunst-Doctor subplot at the end. Kirsten Dunst annoys me. Anyway I was more impressed by watching Jonathan Rosenbaum (who I ended up sitting next to somehow) take a ton of notes without ever looking down. His legal pad looked so crazy at the end.

Rosie's so crazy!

Points taken. I adored the film in all ways, but I was starting to hate the Dunst subplot, and would have hated it had it not provided for alot of the brilliance at the end.

I personally think it is Kaufman's best.

Well here's one more spoiler I can't resist...

In a odd, dramatic shift, Kirsten Dunst in this movie plays a flighty, flirty ditz with a heart of gold. She dances around in her underwear. I'm just so glad to see she's finally learning to say "no" to the scripts that ask for a serious, brooding, morose, intellectual female character.

Truman Show was very very awesome. Tons to think about - excellent soundtrack. Cable Guy's my second favorite Jim Carrey movie based on plot. Dumb and Dumber is in a league of its own as far as consistent laughter throughout the entire movie.
