TOPIC: Clerks Sequel?

Oh Crap!

An open letter to Kevin Smith:

Dear Mr. Smith:

Dude, what are you thinking? Just let it go. Ten years ago, Clerks was an original indie concept. Today it's just sad and tired. Please don't do this to your two remaining fans (me and Jason Mewes). You're not a bad film maker... you just need to do something different. Why don't you go make that comic book movie you always wanted to make? Spiderman and X-Men are huge right now. You should make a move along those lines instead of a sequel to Clerks.

Your Pal,
Tom Foolery

i agree, TF. On a somewhat related note, MissSeptember and I were just having a discussion of Kevin Smith films not even five minutes before I read this. Also, two shots of vodka is an excellent way to start the first day of school.

I don't claim to know anything about movies, but IMDB says that Smith is currently working on a film called Green Hornet, which sounds like it's of the comic book variety.

As for Clerks II, I'm keeping an open mind. History tells us that it will probably suck, but you never know. Some sequels are good. It seems like Smith just desperately wants to be relevant again, and he feels this is his best shot.

You know, I think there's really something to be said for knowing that you've had your run, but now it's over, and just being content with that. But I'm sure it's hard, once you've had that taste of immense fame, to go back to being a mere mortal. I mean, look at Deion Sanders. Or any given cast member of the Surreal Life. It can be painful to watch.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

I thought he said the whole point of JASBSB was to get the dick and fart jokes out of his system before he moved on to "serious" movies.

I think he's just bitter because he was passed over for the next Superman movie/spoof.

He's also passed on green Hornet now as well. Claiming that he was afraid he couldn't make a SFX movie.

After reading Kevin Smith's comments over at viewaskew.com, I feel a teeny, tiny bit better... but not much.

On the other hand, there's going to be a Clerks Cartoon movie. That could be OK.
