Now this is my kind of topic. I hold a special place in my heart for How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Those are, seriously, my numbers 1.2 and 1.3. My number 1, though, has to be Charlie Brown Christmas. Flawless, beautiful, amazing, sheer holiday cheer. And no other special brings back such fond childhood memories.

I also love Garfield Christmas. It's probably my number 2...Christmas Story is hilarious and I will watch it at least twice on Christmas Eve/Day. The new Miracle on 34th Street has been my family's Christmas Eve movie for the past 6 years now, so it rules too. And I can't forget how amazing Home Alone is. That movie is really funny. And now I have Elf, which I have now seen 3 times, to add to my list of holiday movies.

And I forgot to mention Frosty the Snowman (messy messy messy!)... I heart Christmas...

i had to go with the unlisted march of the wooden soldiers. laurel and hardy are choice.

also on my list would be:

*various christmas carols, including the disney and muppet renditions.

*the lemondrop kid - bob hope swindles and then saves the "nellie thursday home for old broads"

*the care bears nutcracker suite

*beavis and butthead do christmas

*muppet family christmas (featuring the fraggles and sesame street characters)

*santa claus: the movie (with dudley moore and john lithgow)

*yogi bears all-star comedy christmas caper

*the small one - not about a penis, but rather the story of the small donkey that carried the virgin mary to bethlehem.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist: Did you know that you can purchase 40" tall leg lamps like the one in the movie from Red Rider Leg Lamps??? Apparently they come in crates labeled FRAGILE (that's fra-gee-lay). I don't think these go up as high as the one in the movie - that one has the beginnings of a butt at the top - this one goes up to mid-thigh. Have a laugh anyway:

My favorite Christmas related movie is White Christmas, and it is also one of my favorite movies of all time...if not the favorite. But, it's not completely centered around Christmas, so my other favorite would have to be between Home Alone, Frosty, and Rudolph. I can't decide.

ok, the best christmas movie of all times is The Snowman. its so wonderful it brings tears to my eyes everytime i watch it. i'm suprised no one has mentioned it. i mean, who can't love a movie involving a little boy who builds a snowman which comes to life on christmas night and takes him flying over the most gorgeous british countryside to the north pole where he meets santa. there is no dialogue in the entire film...just music....

pure genius.

other than that, i'd have to say that home alone and a christmas story are the best christmas movies.

Jack Frost is a wonderful movie.

I remember being 8 at Winn-Dixie and/or Road Runner Video while my mother was shopping and staring at this and other horror movies and waiting for the day that I would be able to rent them.

As far as the best christmas movie ever, it's obviously An All Dogs Christmas Carol. Or White Christmas.

I'm a sucker for Capra and Jimmy, so I had to go with It's a Wonderful Life. A Christmas Story is a close second though.

Some of my favs from Christmas Story:

Aunt Clara had for years not only perpetually labored under the delusion that I was 4 years old, but also a girl.

Over the years I got to be quite a connossieur of soap. Though my personal preference was for Lux, I found that Palmolive had a nice, piquant after-dinner flavor -- heavy, but with a touch of mellow smoothness. Life Buoy, on the other hand... YECCHH!

isn't there a scene where the snowman tries to do some hot young babe in the shower?  he probably murdered her after that.  that's how badass this snowman is.
That must have been a really cold shower!
That's funny

I liked the Prancer movie when I was young. I also liked the Santa Clause. Don't hate me. And lest we forget, the special Christmas episodes of the Price is Right that used to come on (possibly still do). Those were very fun to watch.

PEOPLE

there are only four christmas movies.

1) Christmas Vacation ("Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Kiss my ass, Kiss his ass, Happy Chaunnika.")

2) A Charlie Brown Christmas

3) A Christmas Story

4) Its a Wonderful life (let me put it to you this way, anyone who argues this one will get a convincing, academic response discussing the merits and genius of Frank Capra and an illustration of how this may be the most seminal of his works.)
"Is this what you want you want to do with your life, man? Suck down peppermint schnapps and try to call Morocco at 2 in the morning?"

You can make that a double!

why would anyone argue with It's a Wonderful Life though?

'Cause it's old, long, and boring and not once does anyone 1) get a full paintcan to the head 2) shoot his eye out or 3) fry a live cat. I could be wrong-- I haven't seen it in awhile.

I don't want to hit a a hornet's nest with a stick, but I'm not a fan of Wonderful Life. I agree about Capra and blah blah, but maybe it was just played to much when I was a kid.

It was mistakenly classified as public domain, and every station, I mean every station played that damn movie over and over and over and did I say over? again... call me a grinch, but after awhile George Bailey's incessant whining and gee-willickers astonishments makes me cringe... and don't even get me started on Miracle on 34th St. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus... or is he just a creepy old guy that likes little girls to sit on his lap?!?!?!

Is there a nation-wide epidemic? I can't think of anyone who isn't feeling under the weather right now, including myself.

Of course this isn't affecting my posting since I never use my brain while posting...

Well, in my case it is flu. I dunno about a nation-wide epidemic, but I've been hovering around 99/100 degrees for way too long.

And I flew home from Thanksgiving with a 101 fever. Combined with 70 minutes of in-plane delays, that was the most miserable I've ever been on a flight.

I don't think it rises to the level of an "epidemic," but this is supposed to be the worst flu season in 30 years.

I would like to thank the Flu Shot, the medical community for their tireless efforts in forcing us into something we don't need, and last but not least the THD for their misguided and financially self serving misuse of public funds...Thank you so much...

I'm not Jewish, but I'll be bored as soon as we leave for my grandparent's house. Until I get presents.

When I was in the third grade, our teacher told us we couldn't have a Christmas party because this girl in our class was Jewish. She said it really mean, and I always thought that was shitty, even in the third grade. That woman was a bitch. And Rachel was nice. Everyone in our class was mad at her after that.

I don't consider myself religious in the least, and the only reason I really celebrate Christmas is because I've done it all my life. It's not like it has any meaning to me, other than giving gifts to my friends and family.
That's so NA.

My Dad is Jewish, but my Mom is Catholic, so she cancels him out. He still believes what he believes, but has assimilated into going to church on holidays and celebrating at least the presents & decorations part of Christmas. You have to promise to bring up your children in the Catholic faith when you get married if you are Catholic, so I guess my Dad felt outnumbered. That, or, that he got more presents w/Christmas...

I remember seeing that as an 8 year old kid. Chewie and his family rocked, and Boba Fett was way cool... but you know its bad when a group of kids the next morning is at school going, "What the fuck was that?" That could very well be the worst TV show ever.

This Frog thing is a bit freaky...

SWHS is definitely the worst thing I've ever seen. I love that they chose Chewy's family to focus on, and how the first like, 15 minutes have no dialogue, but are mostly conversations in a language that can't even be understood by context of responses, as normally happens with Han and Chewy.

I hope I haven't posted in this topic already. I'm too lazy to go through all 7 pages to see.

My favorite holiday film (and perhaps film in general) is "White Christmas"; however, it is not completely holiday-filled...so I would have to say that it comes down between Frosty and Home Alone for me, although I do love Charlie Brown and Rudolph.
