TOPIC: Horror Movies

I did a little (or a lot) of DVD shopping today, and I ended up buying mostly horror movies. A couple are what I consider to be classics (as classic as a horror movie can be, at least). So, I was wondering what horror movies everyone else likes. But, on top of that, which ones actually scare/scared you?

A lot of the time I'll appreciate a horror movie, but it won't scare me. In fact, only one movie has legitimately scared me continuously, and that's an obvious one (The Exorcist). I tried watching it about a month ago. It was about 2am, and I made it through the first 30 minutes and quit. I immediately switched to something light-hearted. I think I might give it another shot tonight.

P.S. Leprechaun is on Sci-Fi right now. Ha!

i can never think of lists like this off the top of my head, but here are some that i've watched recently or something...

high tension
phantasm
audition

okay, so that was a lot shorter than i was thinking it would be. but speaking of "audition": "visitor Q," what the fuck?!

oh, and i recently watched the "saw" movies and kind of liked them.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the only one that I know of that can legitimately still scare me. I think a lot of that is because I live out in the middle of nowhere and watched it by myself in the middle of the night a year or so back. When I was a kid it was a totally different story, but I think being allowed to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street and the like when I was 7 probably contributed to that.

Supposedly they are filming a prequel to Texas Chainsaw Masacre at my old house (The Idaho house where me and some other former features board regulars lived). Weird.

I'm a huge pussy when it comes to horror movies. When I was little I saw Child's Play and for about a year I was looking for Chucky in every nook and cranny in my house. I've never been the same since.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I used to love watching Child's Play. It always came on the USA Network, and I would talk my brother into it. I was secretly always afraid of coming across a Chuck doll in stores. But, I think dolls (like clowns) in general are creepy. Their eyes are always open. The dolls, not the clowns.

HSS, I'll admit that I kind of like the Saw movies, too. I haven't seen High Tension, although I've been tempted. Maybe in the next couple of days that I actually have off I'll rent it.

the ending of high tension is crap. the rest of the movie is great though and having muse in the soundtrack didnt hurt either.
