Okay I watched this movie at about 3am, and I was a little delirious, but I found it to be one of the most unusual/hilarious films I have seen in a long time.

You must choose. It is like that movie "Sofie's Choice" only it is Nathan's choice. Do you know that movie, "Sofie's Choice"? It is like that. Only it is this.

Just looked this up on allmovie and it looks really good. Charlie Kaufman (explaining the unusual/hilarious qualities)! All right! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll have to check this out.
Bill, it was a different time. It was back when we didn't know the Russians were incompetent.

It's not a bad film at all... I saw it when it came out, quite funny. This was Michel Gondry's first major feature film, I've heard interviews from him where he felt that him and Kaufman were handcuffed by the studio and that is why the film feels a bit light and incomplete. Either way, I liked it.

It comes on Starz quite frequently if you want to be cheap and not rent it. cool.gif

I think it was on one of my "favorites" lists on here a long time ago- there are some parts in it that have made me laugh more than almost any other movie...like when Puff humps the movie screen. I'm a total whore for Charlie Kaufman. I agree that sometimes it seems like comes close to greatness & then plays it too safe- interesting that they say it's the studio's fault.
Two sips from the cup of human kindness and I'm shitfaced
