So, with all of the talk about the other high-profile movies released recently, this one seems to have kind of slipped between the cracks.

I saw it tonight and LOVED it. It was much better than I was expecting. Not the best Coen Bros. movie, but still definitely in the top five movies of this year for me.

Anyone else have an opinion?

I was going to start this thread, but you beat me to it. I haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to ASAP.

I loved it as well. It reminded me alot of an old 40's screwball comedy. Back when "screwball" meant witty dialogue and wink wink nudge nudge acting. Not poop and fart jokes. A good time was had by all.

I really like George Clooney. Which is weird for me to say, because he has about every quality that I love to hate in leading men. Mrs. Frog says it's called "aloofness" and that we share a common bond. I wasn't sure if that was a compliment or not...

I thought it was great & I was relieved that it wasn't nearly as "Hollywood" as people had said it would be. It definitely had more mass appeal & a little less in the way of visual & verbal puns & metaphors, but it was still classic Coen. I did notice that the parts we laughed at & the parts that most of the audience laughed at were different- but I think that's a great success, to appeal to old fans & fans of Catherine Zeta-Jones.

I had no idea this was a Coen Brothers film. Looked like a lame romantic comedy to me. I wonder if so many people would give it a chance if it didn't have the Coen name slapped on it. I could probably say the same thing about Jackie Brown.

I want to see this, because it seems like a good date movie. The only problem is deciding which girl to take...

I'll take the younger one. She'd probably fall for my bullshit. Carl and foldsfan can fight over the other one. She's too much work.

I got to watch the E! show on the Hiltons, followed by the newest show on Jennifer Love Hewitt last night. Sha-wing!

Echo jamiecarrol's comments. I went in with more curiosity than high expectations and I loved it. Fucking hilarious. I don't hate Clooney like a lot of people, but I don't particularly love him either. I was a little worried about this one based on the previews but like I said I had to see it out of sheer Coen curiosity. Clooney is great, but there are some real scene stealers in this one.

I too found myself the lone laugher in the audience a few times.

Anyway, its recommended. Not the greatest Coen Bros., (a bit more lighthearted than the others) but hilarious nonetheless. I could see this, along with Lebowski, becoming a good "intro to the Coen Bros. film".

I saw this last night and really enjoyed it. Very witty and cute. I wouldn't say it's sheer genius, but definitely a high quality romantic comedy. Most movies in this category don't make me laugh at all, but this one really did.

And Catherine Z. looks really great in this movie. I think she's the most beautiful of the Hollywood A list actresses.
