TOPIC: Kill Bill

Anyone looking forward to seeing this movie? Here is a bit of what the movie is about:

Plot Summary for
Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003)

A female assassin attacked on her wedding day by her group leader, Bill, wakes up from a coma and seeks revenge.
"The Bride" was once part of a group of world class female assassins, until the group leader, "Bill" and the other assassins turn against her. Five years later "The Bride" awakens from the coma the assassins left her in and heads out to seek bloody revenge. Unlike conventional movies, Kill Bill is told in chapter format making the narrative flow more like a book than a film.

It has tons of good actors in it: Uma Thurman, David Carradine, Darly Hannah, Vivica Fox, Micheal Jai white, Samuel L. Jackson... I really wanna catch it at the theater. It comes out on October the 10th I believe.

I'll probably see it, but I'm not overly excited about it. It sounds about as cheesy as Fox Force 5.

Does the Vol 1 mean there will be a Vol. 2?

The man speaks the truth.

Teach us, YDDD.

Is anyone else appalled at the fact that a group of world-class assassins merely left her in a coma?

I do enjoy the films to an extent, but there is something that never really set right with me about them.

The Filthy Critic (RIP) put it into words for me:

"Quote"
I am no fan of "Pulp Fiction." Tarantino's overrated love-Quentin-fest was a belated stab at trying to get into the cool clique in high school, with it's cooler-than-cool dialog and washed-up actor posing. "Look at me, guys! I'm cool now! Can I have sex with the cheerleaders, too?"

Yes. It was originally going to be one film, but Tarantino decided that there was too much that he didn't want to edit out, so he split it into two "volumes."

I am a big fan of Tarantino's work. The fact that he has an inflated ego doesn't make his movies any less amazing to me. Pulp Fiction did nothing less than change the way I thought about movies entirely.

As far as this new movie goes, I'm not sure what to think. I'm going in with an open mind.

I've still never seen any of Quentin Tarantino's films and the fact that he has so much acclaim after making only THREE films baffles me. All I know is that the episode that he guest starred on Alias is what got me addicted to that show and that he directed a mighty fine episode of ER.

I saw a preview for "Kill Bill" tonight and I must say that I do want to see it. It looks like an insanely fun movie, and I always like to watch girls beat up people...especially ninja people.

Pulp Fiction is probably my favorite movie ever. I think it says a lot that I still consider it so when I saw it for the first time in the theater when I was 14. I liked Reservoir Dogs a lot and I thought Jackie Brown was a little better than ok. But yeah, after six years, I am definitely pumped for a new (or two new) Tarantino film(s).

If you'd like to see them, I own Pulp Fiction and Reservior Dogs.

I just think that this movie looks hokey. I might wait until the dollar theatre or rental to see it.

maybe it won't be so bad if quentin won't act in it.

worst line in pulp fiction: "NIGHT SHIFT...AT THE HOSPITAL.." I absolutely despise that line. Not only is it stupid b/c it looks like it's trying to explain something to us (which a movie should never appear to do), but it's so crappily delivered.

so does anyone know if he'll be in it or not?
Why would you do that?

I'm not too sure if you'd like any of Quentin Tarantino's films, but you might. Personally, I'm not a huge fan, and I tend to think he's a bit, well, a lot overrated. Pulp Fiction is a really good movie, but it's not that good.

Kill Bill looks more intriguing than most of his movies, I guess.

On the other hand, one thing I do love about Quentin Tarantino is Norm McDonald as Quentin Tarantino.

Speaking of hot chicks in the movie, has anyone seen the latest issue of Playboy? Darryl Hannah is still looking hott!

Totally agree. Hyper-gory, hyper-stylized, hyper in general...a lot of trite stupid dialogue, but you're not expecting a "realistic" film. I thought it was very fun with a lot of silly & dumb parts that made it even more fun. Corpses spraying blood 20 ft? Hell yeah. I appreciate that despite his ego and status as one of the most revered "indie" directors of his generation, Tarantino's movies continue to not take themselves too seriously. He snuck in lots of beautiful visuals, too.

Where did you hear these bad reviews? Especially REALLY bad reviews? I hear and see and read nothing but good reviews of this film, though like Keith, most people say it's not of the calibre of Pulp Fiction.

Okay, maybe there are some folks who hate the film but I just checked out Rotten Tomatoes.com which lists reviews from major papers, outlets and internet sites and the positive reviews total 105 and the negatives a mere 25. Like anything Tarantino seems to do, you either love it (in greater numbers) or hate it (in less, yet still vocal numbers).

I saw it opening night at the Hollywood 27 at 7:45pm. We were the first ones there at 7:25pm and it only filled up about halfway. This was most likely due to the 7:00 and 7:30 showings, but I was still very surprised. It made me feel really bad for being so pushy with my friends to get there on time.

From cinecom:

The man of the hour, Quentin Tarantino, looks to have a few more tricks up his sleeve. New Zealand's Aotearoa News reports that the director is considering some kind of sequel/follow-up to Pulp Fiction that would take the place of the rumored Vega Brothers movie.

Vega Brothers was set to be about John Travolta's character from Pulp Fiction and Michael Madsen's character from Reservoir Dogs, but the project never got off the ground.

"That's something I always planned on doing, but other projects took precedence," Tarantino said. "Ten years on, John Travolta's getting older, Michael's getting older. I don't think they'd even want to do it. Not that that's the last hope audiences have of seeing more of Vic or Vincent Vega. There's an idea I have a Pulp Fiction follow-up. Sequels generally suck, so it's nothing I want to rush into. But bottom line: the studio wants it, the fans want it. I'm sure I can compromise somewhere. It'd be my way of apologizing for never getting 'Vega Brothers' off the ground I guess. That way, we could get John, we could get Michael, and we could get Sam and Tim...everyone back. It would be interesting to see whatever happened to Jules and his plans to 'walk the earth.' Hey, just having Michael and John in the same frame would be great. They're great. But that said, I got to write such a thing."
