TOPIC: New G.I. Joe and Transformers movies

I could only find proof that the G.I. Joe movie was going to be made. The Transformers is just a rumor, as far as I could tell. I could never figure out how to work those things anyway.

I always thought Transformers were stupid... I never bought into the premise that alien robots just happened to look like a Mack truck and an 82 Camaro...

Now GI Joe on the other hand... My parents have been unloading crap out of the house since my youngeest brother moved and the last time they came down they brought me a load of my Star Wars and GI Joe stuff. My wife caught me at 2 in the morning going thru and sorting all of my Joes and posing them... I think it would've been better to get caught looking at porn.

Transformers live action could possibly be the best movie ever. They best keep the transforming sound effects. Also, I'd like them to work on the mess that was relative scaling in the cartoon. Did this bother anyone else?

GIJoe, on the other hand, is a little bit behind the curve with the feel-good kick-ass patriotic war movies. On the other hand, Saving Private Ryan would have been 1000 times better with ninjas and serpentine mummies. Of course, you could make that comment about absolutely any motion picture.

Especially movies about cancer or war.
That's so NA.

I can't for the life of me imagine GIJoe divorced from its jingoism, nor can I see that jingoism playing well on American screens right now. Bad, bad idea, this is.

No, just that 95% of us probably don't know what the word means. I looked it up and thought I'd save everyone the trouble. On the contrary, I agree 100%.

Yeah, I thought he was referring to an addiction to that game where you take the blocks from the bottom and put them on top without the whole tower falling over. Oh wait, I guess that's Jengaism.

I'm sorry. The more bored I get, the more stupid my jokes get. Someone please find me a job immediately.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I thought he was saying that GI Joe is a Gringo.

Transformers could only be pulled off now with all the computer effects and all that. And I was bothered by the misrepresented size.

As for alien robots, didn't you see that they were alien craft and the computer re-designed them to look like Earthen machinery? Duh!

Darnit, you beat me to it. That's why the transformers turned into animals during their Beast Wars incarnation, because there were no cars around.

They'll both be movies that I see, but who knows how good they'll be.

Exactly. For all those wanting to relieve yourselves of jingoist puppets, my friend Jesse buys them to sell to idiots who still collect them. This is his website. Alternatively, you could vote Democrat (or Green, or National Barking Spider Resurgence Party, or whatever) next November.

Who cares? These are Transformers!! Robots in disguise! Transformers! More than meets the eye!

I meant this post in response to Digsy's comment about a movie, and Lauren posted while I was typing it. It works for either post, though.

Yes, that is indeed true. Maybe there'll be a Mini-Cooper transformer...that would rule...

I'm just hesitant about any film that will use that much CGI (the new Star Wars, Hulk, etc.). On the other hand, there's LOTR which used CGI well. G.I.Joe will be an interesting movie. It could end up a lot like the Street Fighter movie of yore, and that could be bad.

I agree. Unfortunately, I can't see doing it any other way than the way they did the Hulk. I mean, imagine how hard it will be to have metallic humanoid giants. I hope I'm wrong.
