Has anyone seen Jack Black's latest?

I've been wondering whether it's worth seeing or not and would love to hear any thoughts.

its funny, but not because of the script. jack blacks plain -funnyness- is really the most entertaining part. i think its as good as it could have been. the kids are great. its pretty much what i expected. you wouldnt be missing anything if you waited to rent it, though.

Hmmm. Yes. It's moving further and further down the list of things I'd like to see at the movies right now. I think I'll go see Intolerable Cruelty first.

Thanks for the input.

I had a really good time seeing this one, but it wasn't anything that special. If you think you can tolerate Jack Black being Jack Black for more than 90 minutes, then you should enjoy it. The funny thing is I don't think this movie had many redeeming qualities morals-wise. I think it sent a bad message to kids without really throwing in a wholesome moral at the end. I have a tendency to let stuff like that bother me when I know I should just be enjoying a stupid movie.

Which word? "Catholic" or "upbringing"? Personally, I think it's a combination of both words.

I got to watch an hour of it before entering the hellhole of conessions on Friday. I was thoroughy entertained by the movie and I definitely want to see the other half. This movie made me like Jack Black even more. The way that he tackles physical comedy is really really great...I don't know how he manages to move that quickly. He must not have asthma holding him back...

mtv says that there will be a tenacious d movie next year to be co-written and directed by liam lynch. the film will be "a creation story based on how tenacious d became the greatest band on earth." i just hope its can rival the show.

I know a lot of people can't stand Jack Black. Honestly, when he's funny, I love him. Did anyone see the opener for Monday Night Football he did last week? I was pissing my pants.

On the other hand, when he's not funny he's one of the most annoying human beings on earth. Bullet through the head stuff. I think a lot of people judge him on his bad shit instead of his good shit and he gets a bad name.

I'll admit the previews look funny, but I have a suspicion it could get old real quick. Some of my friends who don't particularly like Jack Black have seen it and liked it.

the diary of Jack Black is absolutely hilarious. If you haven't tired of it, you can always watch it commercial free on the DVD. Jack Black's plea to Led Zeppelin is hilarious as well.

I understand, but dude...come on. Not conforming. Sticking it to the man. Messages important to today's media-zombie generation. And that part where Jack Black pulls the little drummer boy out of the poser band's van. Total moral message. Don't be a poser, be a rock star. Words I live by every day.

i saw this movie yesterday and absolutely loved it, like i suspected i would (i love kids, i love jack black...what's to expect?). i'll admit, it was a bit of a one man show, but when it's mr. black at his funniest (and hottest), i don't mind at all. i plan on buying it soon.

I was mostly referring to the message that rock'n'roll is more important than other school subjects. In fact it was the only subject. It would have been nice to see him use music as a tool to teach other subjects. I agree the overall idea of nonconformity is great, but there was no accountability for ditching math, literature, and (most importantly) science classes for a few months. And this is at a private school where parents actually pay good money to get their kids a well-rounded education.

Onca again, I realize it's just a stupid movie.

Yeah, I finally saw it yesterday and it was "just a supid movie." There were a few good laughs, but otherwise I wouldn't really recommend it. I like Jack Black in small doses, but I think his act gets tired pretty quickly. Anyway, I thought it was pretty so-so. No Starsky and Hutch.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

You are as abandoned and noisy as any character in a porn film, Laura. You are Ian's plaything, responding to his touch with shrieks of orgasmic delight. No woman in the history of the world is having better sex than sex you are having with Ian... in my head.

God...what a great movie.

OK, now I understand your point. The movie did make it a point to almost discourage any study but that of Rock N Roll.

I used this movie as a babysitter for my 5th and 6th periods yesterday.

So I basically neglected teaching anything to show a movie about a teacher who neglected teaching anything but Rock. What kind of message was I sending to those kids?

I think it was: "Spring Break starts tomorrow. Enjoy"

They did enjoy it, though.
