has anyone seen it yet? I've heard mixed reviews, but am seriously considering just renting the original.

In my opinion, the original will always be better due to its low budget, gritty feel.

The second is worth seeing, however, because they changed the plot enough to keep it interesting and unpredictable. They tried to maintain a lot of the understated gore as well (although they couldn't resist the urge to have some close-up shots of bulletwounds and severed appendages). Plus, Jessica Beale looks super-hott in a wet white t-shirt.

Many will unfairly compare this to the remake of Psycho (another classic that borrowed a little from the story of that lovable Ed Gein). In that one (I'm told), they did a frame-by-frame re-creation of the original for a completely pointless experience. This was not like that whatsoever.

(By the way, I assume you were asking about the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and not the Turner Classic Movies channel, right?)

although i hate hate hate jessica beale (sp) and just hearing her talking about the movie during interveiws made me not want to see it, i've changed my mind. after hearing positive reviews from ghostflower i'm actually looking forward to seeing it. i'm still sure it cannot match the all-around goodness of the first, though. and there's no comparing it to tcm 2...."how good are you?"

I think that I saw Planet of the Apes II twice on TCM a couple of months ago.

Didn't they play Gone With the Wind not too long ago? That was nice.

TCM will have "Go Ape!" marathons where they play all 5 classic Apes movies back to back for days on end. I love those days. The original "Planet of the Apes" is one of my favorite movies and if I pass by it while flipping, I have to watch it. I also love the Roddy McDowell (sp, and I'm too tired to care to look it up right now) hosted documentary about the apes phenomenon. It's one of the main reasons why I got the huge 6 disc box set.

But Marky Mark and the Monkey Bunch sucked.

ok, now that my thread has been hijacked, I will say that Turner Classic Movies are much better than I gave them credit for at an earlier age.

My favorite part in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was when he picked that girl up and hung her with a meathook through the back and made her watch him carve up her boyfriend.

I thought this movie was awesome, yet kinda disturbing. I did enjoy Jessica Beil, very nice bottom.

That wasn't TCM it was AMC. Jackass.
