I saw Brokeback Mountain this weekend (with a female friend). I ain't even gonna front-- this was one of the best, most affecting love stories I've seen since Eternal Sunshine. The fact that it was two guys is only secondary to the story. The reality is that it's a story of forbidden love. Very powerful film, great peformances, and stunning landscapes. I highly recommend it. Of course, with all the nominations, I'm not really going out on a limb here, but I was afraid it would be overated and sensationalistic. I really don't think it was. Despite the subject matter, it really felt like it could have been made 30 years ago. I honestly can't remember the last time I left the theater feeling so numb.

I just looked through all the extras on my Eternal Sunshine DVD. I'd love to work with Michel Gondry someday.

Why numb?

I haven't seen this, yet, but I know I'll like it.

Why numb?
Just emotionally drained. It's just very powerful. That, and the film was pretty long, so my leg was asleep.
