TOPIC: The new and improved LOST thread

Who's still watching. I gotta admit, last week's episode pretty much just bored me. After tonight though, I'm intrigued again. The others have contact with the outside world. Sawyer is my hero. My crush on Kate has returned (THIS helped). Sun is a slut. Episodes without Jack's boring-ass back stories are good. And next week is back to Locke goodness.

first of all, this is my first season watching LOST week to week. gotta say, not a huge fan. the previous two seasons i have just waited until the dvd sets came out and watched them all in one glorious, overindulgent, back to back week-long or so viewing (mostly because i usually have to work wednesday nights and we don't get abc at our house anyway). this whole waiting a week to not find out what happens next thing is annoying. plus, commercials? what a drag.

but, i haven't been too disappointed with the content. it's obviously a little slow-going so far, just because i don't care about these new characters as much yet. i'm dying to see what's happening back on the other side of the island.

and just because i never chimed in on the old LOST thread...who i love: hurley, charlie, sun, sayeed, jack. who i hate: kate, locke. award for most boring back stories: kate. most missed dead character: shannon. best scene in a diaper: charlie. best one-liners: hurley. cutest: vincent.

I've been very pleased this season. I straight up hate the Others. There is no way they are good. Period. Ethan Rom? Goodwin? Shocking everyone? Slavery? Yeah, that's what good people are made of. I was cheering when Sun shot that one and when Sawyer took out a couple guards.

I'm not digging the 6 episodes in the fall thing. But the back to back 16 in the spring will be nice.

I have a gut feeling that Jack will be gone from the show after the first six episodes air. I bet he cooperates and gets sent home. I want it to be true very badly.
That's so NA.

I never really liked the Sun/Jin back stories. They're alright the first time I see them, but after that, I just hate them. Like HaveSomeSoma, I've never watched it week to week on tv, and it's not as interesting to me. It just seems like not enough is really going on and they don't really finish what they're starting, but it'd be really hard to do that in 42 minutes each week. The part I've found most interesting thus far is the little village of the Others.
So I'm Hooking up with David Dewese David Dewese, double D Hooking up with DD DD, don't make me say please again oh no again oh no

this is also the first season for me to watch on a weekly basis... I hate it as well. Wayyy to much waiting around for something to be revealed. LOST has more commercial breaks than Matlock and I never thought any show would be able to hold that claim. This season should be a good one overall, though. While I'm glad we've learned a lot about the others, I do feel that what we now know about them takes away some of the island mystique we had going on. Of course, that could all be brought back with a few plot twists. Anyway, I'm cautiously optomistic about this season.

there's always the big black smoke monster. i don't know though. i think i'd be happy if the show ended without them ever addressing that again.

I like Cerebus (the smoke's possible name).

One of my fellow interns, who hasn't watched much of the show, said they were on Jurassic Park's island. Which I imagined would make the show hilarious. And I'd love it if "JP IV" was actually a "Lost" movie. Sayid vs. a velociraptor.

I just woke up so I may not be very coherent.

I just have to wonder where people get the time to do stuff like that. It's both amazing and just....hmm...

So tonight's lesson is, obviously, don't get a DUI charge. They're 3 for 3 lately (everyone with a DUI from season 1 got off, I do believe). And I just don't accept that the DUIs had nothing to do with Libby and tonight. Seriously. That's just too big a coincidence (or is it fate?).

Ugh. And really, I think that Cerebus/big black smoke is one mystery that I'm ready to be solved. Seriously. I'm fine with the pacing of the rest of the mysteries but I'm way ready for this one to be dealt with. It's been going on since the first episode. Come on.

Next week's episode looks good. "Fall season finale." Weird term.

Cerebus is tiring... everything else so far has been reasonably explained. I don't mind things being far-fetched, or even imagined, but this smoke thing is borderlining on bizarre, and not in a good way. It's kinda like most of the Stephen King stuff made for television: Everything's great and then they throw in some off-the-wall special effects that push it past the realm of imaginability.

other than that, I love where things are going...

next week will be the last new episode until the new year. then they'll finish out the season uninterupted.

Oh yeah, I've just never heard it called a "fall season finale." This may be the first time that specific phrase has been used...

They should have split it up better, 11 and 11. 6 episodes was not enough.

So was Shannon's Waltvision smokemonster?

'Cause if every other (non-drug induced) hallucination is that thing, then maybe Walt wasn't psychic after all? Or something?

How about that Paolo?!

Is Paolo Pearl-Hatch-Bathroom Guy? If so, I'm not a fan. I'm not a fan of them dropping new people in so suddenly, even though there is no other way for new people to be dropped in. I mean, we've been on this island for two seasons and we're suddenly seeing these new people...I liked how they integrated Arzt and Ethan Rom, slowly, over a couple episodes. New Shannon (what I call the new girl) did make a good point about this mission being a good time for them to get involved. I dunno, I just had mixed feelings about these two. Really, they're the new Shannon and Boone, based on their attitude towards the island.

I was totally thinking sawyer was a goner last night... That was probably the most on edge I've ever been with LOST. Don't get me wrong, I woulda been pissed if Sawyer had died, but I'm afraid that the writers are too scared to kill off any of the main characters now. What initially hooked me on the show was that I felt absolutely no one was safe, now, I'd be willing to bet Jack, Kate, Locke, and Sawyer all make it to the end (barring any contract problems). Anyway, great episode and having to wait until Feb is gonna kill me.

Nah, I really think we're nearing the end of one of those three, perhaps the 3rd season finale? I too was on edge and certain they were going to kill Sawyer. I had no concept of time while watching so I didn't know the ep was near the end. I thought there'd be more resolution! Of course not.

But really, this show can survive the death of any cast member. If Sawyer was killed, it would just propel the emotions of other characters into interesting areas. The show is bigger than the characters, and yet it still makes us love and hate them with such passion. That's why "Lost" is great.

These 13 weeks are going to be horrible.

I was kind of disappointed, but really only becasuse it wasn't as huge a cliffhanger as it was built up to be.

Sawyer made me get a throat lump when he told Kate he loved her.
