TOPIC: Who should play Batman?
Posted  Thursday, September 4, 2003 at 12:02 AM
Post 1 of 44
Jake Gyllenhaal (Donnie Darko), Christian Bale (Captain Corelli's Mandolin), Joshua Jackson (Dawson's Creek), Cillian Murphy (28 Days Later), Henry Cavill (I Capture the Castle), Eion Bailey (The Scoundrel's Wife), Ashton Kutcher, and Guy Pearce (Memento) have all been rumored to be the next Batman. Discuss.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

I voted for Bailey... Batman has always been my superhero. They better not screw this one up after the last tragedies in that franchise. They need to go with a relatively unknown, and I want to see Bats going BSL (that's bat-shit-looney) on some punk ass bitches. They need to get back to what he truly is. A billionaire psychopath that takes the law into his own hands.

It's a toss up between Christian Bale and Guy Pearce for me, but I went with the former because I think I like him a little more.

I couldn't agree more. The Michael Keaton Batman films were really good. The first one kicked total ass, and the second one was pretty good too. I voted for the guy from 28 Days Later.

You left off Jason Biggs. The most memorable part of the movie would be when he bakes a pie in the bat cave.

From AintItCool.com:

John Malkovich and Dennis Quaid were apparently seen meeting with director Chris Nolan on the set of Batman: Intimidation Game.

Malkovich may play villain Ru Al Ghul while Quaid may play Commissioner Jim Gordon.

He is a villian who keeps himself immortal through sleeping in a Lazarus pit...or something. That's the knowledge I have of him through the cartoon and Jeph Loeb's current run on "Batman." From what I've read, he's a pretty tough cookie and a more intellectual than brutish character...so that's a plus.

And I'm pretty sure Batman boned his daughter.

The rumored title for the film is Intimidation Game.

Yes, I'm pretty sure he did. If I'm not mistaken, it was a car accident or something, not old age. But I might be thinking of someone from the Bond films, instead.

Q from the Bond films died in a car crash... I think the actor that plays Alfred is still alive, I just think this is a Batman from his younger days of crime-fighting...

How amazing is this cast? Michael Caine? Gary Oldman? Morgan Freeman? Liam Neeson? Ken Watanbe? Katie Holmes *coughcarlcough*? They could just read the script from the 1960s Bat-flick and this would still mop the flizoor with Batman & Robin.

Agreed. Unbelievable cast. Christopher Nolan is going to redefine everything we expect in a Batman movie. Seriously, this could even surpass *gasp* the first one. Batman is fucking BACK!
Bill, it was a different time. It was back when we didn't know the Russians were incompetent.
