TOPIC: 2003 Shows

Since the site only lists shows through 12/20/2002, I was wondering if any of you knew of any Features shows planned for 2003? I'd definitely like to see them again in concert sometime. Any chance of them playing down here in Florida, or am I asking for too much on that one?

I think you might be "pressing your luck" Lou...

Sorry, couldn't resist. In all seriousness, I talked with Matt briefly after the Attic show and asked if they'd be coming up to Chicago again anytime soon, and he said that while they have no definite plans, they are planning on playing more shows up there relatively soon. What I got from what he said implied to me that the band was trying to increase the number of shows that they play outside of Tennessee. So it could be possible.

If the gods are good to us, Lou. I'm in Jacksonville, but I'd surely drive to ANY Florida show that ever happened. I have a good friend in Tampa who is also a fan, although they might do better in Gainesville.

I love Jax. not because it's super cool like some people think. (I can never find anything to do there.) But it's beautiful. That and I ate crab for three hours straight there at the Crawdaddies there beside the Landing one Sunday. I'd take St. Augustine over Jacksonville any day. I'm not sure how receptive all the old people would be of the Features, though.

How funny- you're the first person I've ever heard say that they love Jacksonville- and I was born & raised here. To say that there is nothing to do is an understatement in the extreme. In a city of a million people, we have at least 60 movie theater screens that average at most 20 movies between them, none of which usually interest me. "Art" films take at least a month to get here, if they ever make it, and then they play on TV-sized screens. The only band I can think of that I really like that has come here in the past 4 years is Apples in Stereo. There are no political movements to speak of and, in fact, I think it might be illegal to not be Republican. If you like football & golf & gated communities & incessant heat & palm trees, Jacksonville is the place to be.

Sorry for the rant- it happens when I spend enough time here. Maybe I would enjoy it more if I ate crab. BUT, I'm glad you appreciate my hometown. The parts that have not been paved & turned into condos or strip malls are quite beautiful indeed, and the beach is my favorite in the world. If I end up here for good (please, no!), I agree that I would head for St. Augustine (aka the oldest permanently occupied european settlement in north america)

To me an absense of politics is only a good thing...

No, you're thinking of Brentwood. In Franklin you can still not be a Republican if you're 29 or younger... smile.gif
