$10?!? For that much money, we'd better get "Bring on the Night" and "Stick Together." Also, brianeno2 should appear.

I'll be down the street at the Ryman seeing Coldplay. Depending on when that's over, I may be hard-core and swing by. Keep your fingers crossed...

And don't anyone dare say the Features aren't worth $10!

The Coldplay show is rumoured to end by 10:30, and YOU KNOW The Features won't go on before that...

On their mailing list email, it said the cover was higher than usual because they need extra $$ to get themselves to SXSW. We should support their gas money effort, especially now that a gallon costs, what, like $5?

The first band isn't slated to go on till 10pm, or at least this is what the 12 and Porter site lists as the "starting time". You can bet the Features won't be playing before 11. So come on, come all and see a band that doesn't keep an extra musician underneath the stage.

I do think that they should play Bring on the Night also, but I've never hear stick together, do you have a recording of it, and I will be there if they let me in (it sucks being 15)

Ouch! That hurts because it's so true. We could actually see one of their extra musicians because of the extreme angle at which we were sitting in Birmingham. Pretty lame. Still an amazing show.

Wow, this is very good news! I just might pull this off...

I'll be sitting way off to the side at the Ryman, good thing I'm already expecting the mystery men behind the curtain. I think I can handle double duty that night and swing by 12th and P. I wonder if we showed our Coldplay ticket stub if we could get a reduced cover, perhaps the regular $7. I'm just a stingy bitch though, I guess I can swing $10.

The Ryman Auditorium: all ages
12th & Porter: 21+

If luck and the gods of both punctuality and tardiness are on my side, I'll be able to go to both shows.

I doubt it , Mike. Your money spent on the Coldplay ticket doesn't help our band to get to Austin now, does it?

Maybe you guys can talk Coldplay into coming to the Features show, too. I'm sure they'd enjoy it.

Speaking of double duty... I've often thought about going to a Predators game and a Feature show in one night. Mmmmm.... sensory overload.

I'm sure they would. Maybe if Sina was going with me, that wouldn't be a problem, but alas...

Maybe I'll make a sign or something to the effect of "Go see the Features at 12th and Porter tonight". They'd probably see it. I will be in the second row after all. Did I mention that already?

I've done it... not a good buzz. Especially if you get into the games as I do. Riding Chris Chelios' ass up and down the ice with the help of big beers, doesn't bode well for a Features show.

Speaking of Coldplay, I'm trying to figure out which is worse: knowing that a group has an extra instrumentalist off-stage or knowing that a group uses backing tapes. Maybe backing tapes are worse, but they're both lame.

I said I would be there anyway. Matter of fact, I'll probably have more fun at 12th and P. I would be in trouble if I went to these two shows in reverse order, I'd be all snoozin' and shit.

Agreed. Playing to pre-recorded tracks is deceptive, not to mention quite lazy. I've always liked it when bands just go for it and take on a really complex arrangement with a stripped-down lineup. It can take the song in a new direction. But then again, it can just be boring (read: Wilco in 2002). But having musicians off-stage is even more deceptive, and, I think, is simply a result of inflated pride.

I agree as well. The most annoying case of this I've seen is when I've seen Self.

Good God you're big into dissing live Wilco. For the record of those who haven't seen their live set lately, I heartily recommend it, don't be entirely swayed by this foolishness.

I'd say that the live arrangement of Poor Places is a prime counterpoint: the song required reworking to be played live, but it was reworked really, really well.

Sorry to offend you about Wilco. I just think that they don't do a very good job playing their newer material live. And their live show just has too many down-tempo songs for my taste. They used to be much better. Try and get your hands on some bootlegs from Summerteeth-era shows. You'll see what I mean.

No offense taken, I was just surprised at the number of times(alright, two) that you'd decided to attack them in less than a week. I have some Summerteeth bootlegs and I really dig them, but I think the arrangements of I Am Trying to Break Your Heart, Poor Places, and Radio Cure for live performance are pretty amazing... but its a question of taste, like everything else in music...

mr. kula shaker should meet jamiecarrol and roadie so they could all three bash the wilco like set.

i must agree that withou jay bennet the live show does lack something. crispian is right about scoring some summerteeth boots. it was the goodness.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

On a related note (two of them in fact), the sound guy for Wilco was playing keys on a few songs from the back of the crowd at the Uptown Mix last summer. Another reason to bash Wilco's snoozefest.
