I bought the Buffalo Head single and i must say it is incredible!!! very well done recording. they managed to capture true energy of the song as it is done live. it is also nice to see a mahaffey track out there. perfect b-side!

what is everyone elses thoughts on the single?

I think it's great...a great recording of "Buffalo Head"...makes me really pumped up about hearing the other stuff that they recorded with Craig Krampf. I think that it does truly sound more like the Features sound live than any other Features recording that I've heard...an especially great drum sound. Just listen to Buffalo Head, then turn it over and listen to the drum sound on "Oh My Love"...quite a big difference. I love the Mahaffey sessions, but the drums sound so very thin. I'm glad to see a Mahaffey track get released, though.

Also, I really dig the artwork for the new 7" - both the sleeve and on the actual record. Kudos to the Features and Fictitious.

I have to 100% agree with everything mentioned. The sound is amazing and it blows the Mahaffey sessions away (although I too love them). I'm just amazed by the recording and I cannot wait to get it on compact disc. I cannot wait to hear Idea Of Growing Old and The Design and The Damage Is Done...this is great. And the artwork is also superb, very witty and such.

My time line was off--I thought they recorded the Mahaffey sessions in February 2000 instead of November 99.

The record looks good. I have no handy record player, so I'll have to wait to hear it.

I think "Oh My Love" is a good b-side choice, though 33 1/3 desperately needs to pop up on vinyl just to keep the world in balance.

A friend of mine heard DarkRoom from the Mahaffey sessions and said the production sounded like J. Giles Band. I said, "man that is about the worst thing you can say about a piece of music."

does fictitious have a website?

i like the mahaffey sessions alot.....but this is a better representation of how the band sounds live. both recordings are a great representation of the band. it is weord to see the switch...you listen to one side..then the other is completely different!

Ditto on all of this. I know I'm way behind, but I ordered mine before Thanksgiving and just missed its arrival when I felt for Christmas. I found it when I got back, and then I just had to wait until my friend with a digital turntable could encode it to cd for me... Such a great disc. I can't wait to hear the rest of these sessions!
