TOPIC: All Request Show (part 2)

I got to thinking this would be a great idea for The Features first show back in TN. Not only would we all enjoy it, but I'm sure the band is sick of playing the same ol stuff night after night. The question is: Who made it happen the first time around?

According to Matt on the bootleg of the first one, it was Rollum's idea, I think...I doubt anything like that is going to happen again, but man, that'd make a pretty cool Christmas present from one of TN's best bands. Someone close to the band should ask if they'd ever be up for it again, and take it from there...

They're overseas until the 22nd (I think). But it'd make for a happy New Year.

I disagree. The last show was well-documented. There's no need to do it again.

However, I'd love to go hear a good Features set around New Years that included around 24 songs. If they played at say, the Boro and played several moderately old ones, I might be happy.

Though I must say that at this point, my enjoyment for the Features is at an all-time low.
I can't grow a beard, and I don't like to party.

i think i've missed about 4 of the last 5 features shows in the boro/nashville area, and if i have to miss another one for being back home in texas i just might cry.

so i vote no to doing it now, but very much yes for later. biggrin.gif

I seriously doubt that. After being on the road for so long, that's probably the last way they'd want to spend the holiday. Plus, I heard the Privates are playing...

Okay, this is a late reply, but I'm shocked by the number of great songs that didn't make the first (and probably only ever) request show. Hearing Attention, Roger's Theme, Standing By, or Hey Lou would be incredible...

I really, really don't like a lot of the older songs, especially some of them that were played at the first request show. Maybe it's because I don't know the words and can't sing along, or it's because they're not as good. I was thinking the first one was going to be a "greatest hits" kind of thing, but it turned out to be "the early years" or something.

I still had a good time, and if there is another, I will vote for "Darkroom," "Kari-Anne," "Mosis Ptosis," "Walk You Home," and "See You Through."
That's so NA.

It was a rarities show. Most of those songs are no longer played for good reason. Either 1) the song no longer fits the band's current style, 2) the song dates back to the days of Don Sergio, 3) the band is just sick of playing it, or 4) the song just plain sucks. But they knew that the fans missed hearing some of those songs, so they agreed to play a few of them for one night only. It wasn't their most electrifying show, but it made a few fans-- particularly the long-time, devoted ones-- extremely happy and nostalgic. Another reason why the Features kick so much ass.

Of course, I will always hate them for booking the show while I was out of town.

We got Don't Lie to Me, Harold, Burma, and Your Smile. Asking for more would be pushing our luck.
