I'm looking forward to the Athens show as well. Getting to see Guided by Voices and the Features in one weekend is, as MissSeptember would say, a recipe for awesome!

Sounds strangely like my Ben Folds tour of Nashville of the same name!!

I WILL be in the ATL tomorrow night, starved for quality music, happy to see my old crew & generally reveling in joy.

That is definatley on the agenda. My sister already gave me the tour last year complete with Stipe's house, Mike's house, Murmur tressle, REM offices, Weaver D's, and some buildings he owns. This time we will be taking James Riot on this tour. You are more than welcome to join us for some good old fashioned REM "no, i'm not a stalker" fun. smile.gif

well, it snowed here this morning and i can't find anyone to go with me, so it doesn't look like i'll make it. you should all come to knoxville next week though and check out the features with my morning jacket. i haven't heard them live yet, so i'm totally psyched about the show. plus, bluecats shows are always legendary.

if anyone is coming from or through knoxville and would be willing to give me a ride to athens, i can chip in gas money and even hotel money. i get off work at 4pm and can leave as soon as then. looks like i won't make it though.

I'll be at the 40 Watt with about 7-8 stragglers, most of whom have never heard The Features. I wonder how this show will go since the last Athens show they had when they opened up for Andrew Bird was kinda strange and empty.
Why would you do that?

I think this time it will be different. Or, if not, it will be quite easy to spot features fans.

I really liked Andrew Bird... I think I saw about 7-8 of those shows on tour... but the fact remains... he's one strange bird

Nobody mentioned that the features were only opening for someone else at the 40 watt... how disappointing. I thought they normally mentioned that sort of thing on the shows page...oh well, i guess minimal features is better than no features at all. still sad... sad.gif

Good, albeit brief, show in Athens. Several new fans were won. Amazing how they can be the opener and yet still blow the headliner out of the water in terms of sound and stage presence. They opened with Circus, ended with Thursday, and somewhere in the middle was:
Walk You Home
Temporary Blues
Harder To Ignore
Me and The Skirts
Exhibit A
Love is Gold(en?)
New Song (they said it was new but I don't know what the means, something that ended with -osis, perhaps?)
Leave it all Behind
A Million Ways to Sing the Blues
That's the Way It's Meant to Be

I think that's all..short, but great (Matt playing on his knees was the highlight). That's the last I'll see of them for a while. sad.gif
Why would you do that?

(Matt playing on his knees was the highlight).
It's called Mosis Ptosis (the spelling is still under debate-- apparently the words are baby-talk) and I think it debuted at their last show at Wall Street in Murfressboro. One of their better new songs in my all-important opinion.

I'm happy to see the knee move has become a standard. That's rock'n'fucking roll!

i'm also happy to see 'temporary blues' working its way into semi-regular set status again.
