A friend of mine just sent me a MP3 of The Features covering one of my all-time favorite Pavements songs. This has made my day.

Whenever there is slide whistle involved - assume Don Sergio is as well.

That Features mp3 page is kind of insane. Hope people aren't turned off from buying CD's because they can just download that one that they enjoy.

no worries there. i think it's safe to say that most message board members are willing to spend a little money for features recordings.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

I think Micheal is more concerned about not-yet-fans basing their opinion of a band they've never heard on a fair quality live recording of a cover of an obscure, wacky song they performed 5 years ago. I can see where he's coming from.

Okay, I just re-read what he posted and I totally mis-interpretted. My bad.

Didn't we all kind of have a gentleman/woman's agreement not to upload songs that are commercially available (unless they're on the Internet in some official capacity)? The upload site seems to adhere to that as far as I can tell. Plus, it's the only way for some people to hear gems that are on the verge of extinction & may never be officially recorded. But this debate is as old as the hills...
