TOPIC: Blow it Out video

...really didn't like it. After the great comedy animation of "Leave it All Behind" and the great projection skills of "Million Ways..." this one left me really cold.

It looked like they were playing in a shoe box, and some of the AV seemed out of sync.

Boourns~!

To make myself seem a little less miserable, I'll add that I'm very excited aobut seeing them again on the 20th and that I've been evangelising for the lads a whole load.
...and this ain't one of them...

I assume you're talking about the Peace Frog version of the video. It was filmed at their practice space in murfreesboro, so it was approximately 4 times bigger than a shoe box.

If you're into "comedy animation" you should check out the original version of the video.

I would include a link here, but I'm not sure if the band would like us to see that one. A certain nashville scenster website has it, though...

The original version of the video was rejected by the band and, therefore, will probably not be linked on the website. How or why it was released online is uncertain...

The band would rather be represented by the latter version directed by Chad Denning (who did the first two videos). Micheal assures me that when it becomes available to him, he will add it to the site. If anyone has a link, though, I don't see any harm in posting it here. I think the messageboard community deserves it.

I'll post it. If it's on Nashvillezine.com, that's official enough for me:

Blow It Out Vid (non-Peace Frog version)
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Keith, you are destined to rock. Never forget this.

That was, well, interesting. Thanks for the link... it would have been a little better had the "nutcracker mouths" moved a little better. It's good to see the band isn't settling when it comes to videos. I'm sure Chad's version is great!

Interesting was a good description. I would simply state it with this "What the hell was that?" Sorry, but that was not very good and I'm going to have freakin' nightmares about nutcrackers and those damn monkeys with tambourines.

Way to go guys by not choosing that video. The next one will definitely be better.

Personally, I thought the video was kinda cool-- in a very surreal way. I didn't find it creepy like most people I've talked to.

My biggest complaints are 1) it looks too derivative of the Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand videos and 2) I wish the animation would actually be in synch with the singing.

I'd be highly interested to hear how Andy saw my version of the video. The only known copies are on my shelf as the master, and the cloned master at Universal's dub house. There are some some rough cuts that were mailed back and forth between me, the band, management and label, but I highly doubt those are out and posted somewhere.

Andy, was the version you saw animated or live action?

I'd be willing to shed some light on these, but until I get official word from label or band as to when where and how this video is getting posted, it's best to keep my mouth shut.

Once my version comes out, look for a possible update with a little bit more "wow" thrown in. We were under tight deadlines for the UK when this was shot and edited.

edit: Ok, now that I realize that Andy is in the UK, I bet he's seen it on TV there... oh well... carry on.

Hilarious!

And more than a little disturbing.

That is possibly one of the strangest music videos I've ever seen.

I loved it! I thought it was pretty funny.

It was definitely a bit on the weird side... but I liked it.
