Woo-hoo! It looks like going the entire month of October without seeing my beloved band will pay off in November! Another spectacular Boro show and the 7"! Will the 7" be available by the November 16th show? If it isn't I'll drive to the far reaches of the earth to get it. Yay happy day...

Not positive on that, but you would be able to order it off the site or head to one of the stores where it would be sold if it wasn't... of course you should still probably drive to the far reaches of the earth to see the Features anyway. They'd appreciate that.

Oh yes, the artwork. If it is done by the genius behind the recent posters, then I'm sure it will be frickin amazing. Wow this has really made my day.

Don't you mean that one of your very nice friends will drive you to the record store... the interstate is a scrary place for Digsy. I will gladly drive for such a worthy cause though.

I remember at the Boro earlier this year when Fl Oz released the American version of Foreign Legion. I walked up to Seth Timbs and said, "I'll take four." I got a funny look. I wanted to quote the Simpsons and add, "Please autograph them, signing it to me and three of my friends with the same name."

Anyway....this is great about the 7". I was worried that it would take a while to get out since Spongebath vinyl was ALWAYS extremely late being released.

Would someone like to sell me one of their four Foreign Legions. Its out of print and I REALLY REALLY want it since i enjoy the Ounces.

Man it took me a long time to realize I couldn't type.

I know the features love vinyl, and it's not quite dead, but some of us kids don't have a record player. anyone know how to convert vinyl to a CD or something? Does it require special equipment? I kinda want something I can listen to in my car.

Perhaps the band will upload an mp3 of the A-side (buffalo head?) on the media page whenever it is released.

I've found a good way to transfer records by hooking the stereo up to the computer, but there's probably a less tedious way (though I'll openly brag about the quality if prompted).

I doubt they'll do more than a clip of the song as an mp3 if they put it up here. Why? The 7" is just something more recent for them to sell on tour. It is designed to hype the coming album which will be released on CD. I doubt they'll want to hinder the sales by putting the mp3 somewhere since they have to cover the production costs of a vinyl record and hopefully help fund the next leg of recording the album.

they put "the beginning" up for free download when it came out, and that was a song from their brand new release(at the time). i dont see why they wouldnt put one of the two songs on the single up for download...i might be wrong, but whatever...

The Beginning EP had been out 6 months when the website was officially launched. It's also one track of five instead of a single. They'll be more likely to do something like that when the album comes out.

Besides, they still only have a clip of the Thursday single posted, don't they?

All of this is just conjecture, of course, and I'll be happy if they do save me the trouble of turning a record into digital format. This is yet another question that should be turned to our friends, Michael or BrianW.

I do know that the band is considering another method of releasing one of the new recorded songs to the fans...but that may not happen for a little while.

So there IS a full album coming out? Will it have new stuff or just second or third versions of stuff we've already heard? I'm not complaining...they could release the same album three times with different packaging and I'd probably buy each one.

I think that this has been discussed many times over, but to re-cap:

The album will consist of mostly stuff that has never been recorded. I think it will mostly be the big songs written since about December 2001. Some older favorites are supposed to be included in that too.

Most of the stuff being circulated now on the mp3 site is old stuff that has probably seen its day and won't turn up on the new album.

It's quite possible. There are supposed to be many Features instrumentals that they've done in the studio, but these haven't seen the light of day. I'm pretty sure they did a couple in the Mahaffey sessions.

Anyway, I hope so also--Bumblebee was the best surprise for the Beginning EP. Only a Feature or Rory or BrianW (who hides stuff from us) would no for sure. I probably come across as the biggest pessimist any time the new record is brought up, but I doubt it because studio time is so much more expensive than anything they've done recently.

I would say that one is almost definite.

I also think it would've been a better choice for a single than "Buffalo Head"

I agree, but then again Buffalo Head made my list of Features songs to cut. Leave it all Behind is one of their top songs ever, I think, and has the added bonus of being catchy enough to be a "hit"

"Leave It All Behind" is my top favorite Features song. Before I had the demo that is available now, I would leave every concert humming the chorus wishing that I had it. I called it "the song that I love but don't have." The keyboard part, the mounting tension in the bass line, Matt's words and singing, all leading up to that triumphant and beautiful chorus...it's just an awesome song period.

But Buffalo Head is also a great song and after hearing the recorded version, I think I love it even more. The album is going to be stellar.

Leave It All Behind is totally catchy. Everyone knows that chorus, even if it's the first time hearing the song. Is there any idea of a release date for this fabled amazing album?

I totally agree about the chorus. There's something so sing-able to it that it sounds familiar. I don't think it was ripped off of something, but it almost sounded like I'd heard it before when I first heard it.

I don't expect to see an album at least until January of next year--maybe as late as June.

Ok, just got the buffalo head single last week at the cd warhouse over by mellow mushroom (sexy sadie and I got the last two copies). anyway, listened to it, and I fucking love it. The tidal waves of feedback throughout the song definitely are a plus in my book. I cant wait for the full length...
