TOPIC: Calling all Features Fans

Hey everyone, I'm recruiting to find a couple people to help hang flyers for the February 28 red rose show. If you guys want to help, I could definitely (at least) use some Murfreesboro representation because I go to school and live and work in Nashville, so it's kind of hard to get out there. Let me know if you can help hang stuff and I'll give you them sometime this week if you can do that. Just PM me or email me or whatever. Thanks in advance!
and i'm sure chalking the mtsu campus should help too biggrin.gif

I just read that the bands playing with the Features at this show will be 63 Crayons and Elekibass (from Japan?). Does anyone know anything about these bands? I've done a little searching on the net, but was wondering if anyone has actually seen them live. Also, is this a Features show, or will they be opening? I'm not used to seeing them play with touring bands (except for Andrew Bird).

Hope all of you going to the Red Rose show on Friday have a good time. Wish I could be there for it. Even though that venue is about as bad as you can get from acoustics, I'm sure the band will rock the house...

I saw Elekibass open for Of Montreal a couple years ago and I remember thinking that they were the Japanese version of Of Montreal. I could be totally wrong. Weren't they a no-show for the show at Red Rose a few months ago?

after some investigation i discovered that "elekibass" is a lo-fi band from tokyo who often cover of montreal songs during their sets. apparently they worship the beatles, the beach boys, and psychadelia. very interesting.

those bastards from campus solidarity took down our features posters so they could put up "books not bombs" flyers...unless colin powell is professor, i doubt that skipping will show any significant result...so i returned the favor. there shit came down as well.

dammit! so they are the culprits! i kept looking around campus today in dismay at the bare spots where features posters we hung yesterday once were. i thought maybe it was the wind, but then i realized that wind couldn't budge four staples from a telephone pole. it's odd, though, that the posters for other bands managed to stay up. i knew matt's "i heart saddam" t-shirt would come back to bite the band one day. oh well, at least a few are still up.

I'm not going to make it to the Red Rose, I had planned on going to the Bob Marley B-day Bash that I seem to miss every year at the exit /in . Then I thought, man finally another all ages show, I could have brought my cousinn Carrie and her friend Samantha to the show, but I have prior engagements. I'm gonna hate missing the features though, if I were only 21 I could go see them at 12 @ porter and then I would be satisfied but oh what a long wait it seems until june, I guess I'll stop my bitchin' now tongue.gif

I don't know if those are the only culprits, because all of the garbage cans in the library/mass comm side are bare now. Is there an anti-Features movement on the MTSU campus or are MB members snatching them? If it's the latter then I'm fine with it. laugh.gif

i also noticed that a few of our posters were ripped down by people advertising a website to find the perfect job. a damn shame......

I know that there will be at least one poster still up because I doubt any of those punks are gonna climb the telephone poll. Only IBL and Features message board members have that kinda skill...

as a representative of those who make and spend time on the posters, it does bother me that people have taken them down. it's pretty frustrating, actually. i have faith in the fact that hopefully messageboard members would at least have the consideration to wait until after the show if they wanted a poster. dry.gif

back when i chalked and put posters up
we would wait until like 3 days before the show to do everything. that way by the time posters and chalk were covered, it wouldn't matter because it would be the day of the show.

this is true.

i'm worried about the rain washing away our chalkings though. i guess we can still do it under covered areas. and our chalkings are usually pretty eye-catching, so i'm sure it will still do some good.

anything for the features.

no i don't think there were any mistakes. you said that having them up by the end of the weekend would be best, so i said we could do that. and we did. it's just that some wankers took some of them down, which is neither of our faults. maybe about 30-40% of the ones we put up on campus are still there. plus there's some at cat's music, video culture, hasting's, and red rose. so i'm sure the word is out. you did a fine job featuresgirl... smile.gif

I seriously doubt that, the only time I can remember a show starting close to the advertised time at the red Rose was when they tacked on an extra act. Rock'n'Roll Time dictates that this show will not start before 10pm. I expect to see the Features take the stage at 11:30. Shows go late at the Red Rose all the time-- especially on a friday night.
