I have read on Wiyum's discography that this was produced. However, I've I never spoken to anyone who had it. I'd really like to locate this, if possible. (I understand that it is out of print) If anyone can steer me in the right direction, I'd be forever thankful.
Thanks,
Jack

It exists. I've never seen it, but I have the 33 1/3 and Circus recordings from the disc and I've heard from many that do have it or have seen it. Anyone that has one is likely to be a bigger Features fan than would be willing to part with it. If you have a studio recording of Circus, albeit a somehwat dirty one, then you yourself have all the proof you need.

Tell me more, HSS... what's on it? Is it the Mahaffey recording?

And yes Damon, uber-treble to the max.

Yeah, me too. It was the Mahaffey version, though. And no "Circus."

it's nothing fancy. it has what i've always assumed to be the mahaffey version of the song on it (it's the same as the version uploaded to the mp3 site that specifies "33 1" as it's album title when downloaded). it's just a plain white cd that reads "the features, promotional single, '33 1/3,' go to www.thefeatures.com" on it. i believe it came in one of those white, paper cd covers that are clear in the front. and that's all i know. sorry i couldn't be of more help...

They also gave out another CD that looked just like it in the same packaging that had "The Beginning" on it.

It's not what Will is talking about, and I am skeptical that it exists.

Someway, somehow, there are two demos that we have. They are 33 1/3 and Circus, and they both definitely are from Don Sergio was with the band. They are of very poor quality. I think that they came from the same sessions, and somewhere in our quest to create a discography of the Features, this was conjectured to have been released.

The CD that HSS mentioned is what the Features made to promote themselves using stuff from the Mahaffey sessions. It's not the same thing.

Hmmm... I definitely remember hearing about it back on the old Spongebath board several odd years ago as something official that was handed out at shows. Since we do in fact have the recordings, I've no reason to believe it doesn't exist. Either way, its doubtful that we'll ever know for sure.

I think you're right. Let's face it, those recordings sound like shit, and if they won't release ___________________ (fill in the name of your favorite unreleased Features album here), then they sure as hell wouldn't release those recordings.

Again, those are probably from the Mahaffey sessions or Mississippi.

I've never heard about the Rawlings sessions being released anywhere, and someway, somehow, we have them also.

The myth of the single started when you started this thread. TF had just recently worked at compiling his 2 CD set that he mentions in the thread. We had discussed how to list the versions of Cricus and 33 1/3. Since they were obviously from the same sessions, we conjectured that they were released as some kind of single. I now think that conjecture was wrong.

The reliable source from whom I got my copies of the songs (who shall remain nameless) just included them with the Dortch stuff, on opposite ends of the CD. This person is the type who would own such releases if they existed, I think, and could probably help answer this whole thing were he with us.

An unnamed person finally hooked me up with the tunes but did not put them in Dortch sessions. This person included them with "Matt's Little Ditty" (also not with Dortch) and the old Leave It All Behind demo. 4 songs, apart from the rest of the flock (and the rest of the flock included Dortch).

I think the production on the two recordings sounds nothing like Dortch.

And I still stand by my assertion that this was mentioned numerous times on the old Spongebath Board.

No harm done. I have my doubts on that, especially as I religiously posted on there so much. But it's conjecture, and I guess we'll never know until someone shows us a copy.
