TOPIC: Covering themselves...

What covers have the Features performed in the past? I recently saw them for the first time and thought it was one of the best shows I've seen in a looong time, and I've seen alot of shows. I'm sure they have been archived from the footage Chad has been shooting for the documentary.

And as for covers, if anyone in the know reads this, I think anything along the lines of Talking Heads would be well suited for the band. "Love/Building on Fire", "Love for Sale" or "Wild Wild Life" would be great to hear live. Cough. Ahem.

I still haven't learned how to link to another thread on this board effectively, but check Wiyum's archive of all the songs the Features have played or covered.

I'm not a fan of the Features' covers, but my favorite of the lot is "Sweet Child o' Mine." I wish they'd break that one out one more time.

Really? I rather enjoyed Heard It Through the Grapvine last August, and I'd like to hear (but would never request) their version of Psycho Killer. The mp3 I heard of that was tasty.

Playing one cover per show is something that should be done with great care. For young bands, it's not a bad thing. For the Features, when they play here in town to people who have seen them over and over, they should just refine their catalog or play older songs from their own stuff.

i hate it when people scream for "psycho killer" at shows. i love that song, but i would much rather here an original over a cover anyday.

however, my favorite features cover is "jet"

I rather enjoyed the one time they played Hungry Like The Wolf, but I'm a closet Duran Duran fan. I would much rather them play new things, or back catalog though.

Hungry Like the Wolf was great.
Jet was good.
Child O' Mine was awesome.
Psycho Killer was over done.

I'd rather hear them play "That's Me," "Your Smile", "Radio One", or "Hey Lou" over any of those any day.

Agreed wholeheartedly. I believe the cover song vs old song issue has come up before, but yeah. Old song all the way.

I get so mad when I hear anybody (especially drunk girls) yell for "Psycho Killer". I love it when they play it, but I would love a Features song just as much.

If I had my choice of covers, I would, of course, choose "Jet". I was thrilled when I actually got to hear it last year.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

a few yrs ago at a singer-songwriter night at sebastian's, i witnesses a specific boared member do a rendention of 33 1/3. or at least he was going to do it-he could have pussed out.

also before i joined elaine, i saw them do tease of thursday between songs. i guess it was an inside joke that no one else would get.

with this have any of you ever witnessed a band do a cover of a features song? i'm sure this will be common at some point.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

Silent Friction has been known to cover "Rabbit March." I heard them do it at The End when they were opening for the Features.

I've heard Silent Friction do that a few times...it's just a teaser, a few lines thrown into the middle of one of their songs.

the features are so good they don't need to watse time playing other people's stuff.

i, too, am annoyed with the "psycho killer" yellers. not that i don't enjoy it when they do decide to play it, but i just think it's disrespectful to yell a cover song to a band that has an amazing catalog of material of their own. it's like you're saying "hey, i know you guys are really good and have lots of songs and everything, but i would much rather you play this other band's song." i think if the features play covers, it should be a them saying "hey, it would be fun to play this song tonight" situation rather than a drunken fan requesting it situation.
