Definitely viewed as an oldie. Not played regularly. view http://pubweb.nwu.edu/~wfb623/features for more details.

Yeah, that would be cool, if they played a song on the air for them. (Although, if it was only one, I suppose they would play The Beginning or some other modern favorite)

Anyway, The Features recently played a show in which their setlist was determined by message board members. Radio One was one of the top 15 voted songs, and although they got around to most other songs, they apparently didn´t (couldn´t) do Radio One, so...there´s obviously no plan to revive that one anytime soon. Great song, though, one of my favorites.

I don't expect to ever hear this song live.

As far as I know, it was, but it was a loooooooong time ago.

Have there been any Features songs that have not been played live? I know that some of The Beginning EP was recorded before it was played live, but eventually all of that came round to the stage. I doubt if anything made it to record but not to the stage.

It was a Don Sergio song, and I would imagine they played it when he was in the band.

Does anyone other than me and TF have a copy of this song where the horns are mixed out?

Yes. My copy of "The Mississippi Album" has "D-Con" with no horns. In fact, I didn't know that any version of the song had horns until later, when Will hooked me up with the Spongebath comp version.

It's funny that you assumed the horns were "mixed out." I always assumed that the horns were added on later.

I had always felt this way as well. In fact, given that the horns version is the Spongebath Compilation version, I'm still fairly certain that the horns version is a "newer" mix, with the MS Album version being the original.

What do you mean by saying that it´s a Don Sergio song? Did Don write it himself/help write it, or do you simply mean that the song was written by Pelham while Don was part of the band?

That makes more sense, because Anti-Gravity was put out on the same comp and they had no qualms playing that at 11/7/03...

to my recollection, the lyrics were written by matt except (6 , half dozen, war alone, want to go....) well after thinking about it i think matt also wrote this part. chord structure don's, opening mellody , also don's. the name d controversy ( sergio at the time was all about contr......he still is i am sure ) and last but not least, the band did not like the dortch horns which he arranged and got some mississippi symphony players to play whilist he recorded. so. when the song was mixed we had one with and one without because the band could not make up its mind. im sure i have something incorrect but ...o well

p.s. i can't remember but one of the songs on one of the two comps, the end was cut off, which was a cool beatle like chord resolve. sad to say but i do not have either of the spongbath comps, so im not sure but i think this was the tune. dam that sloppy rich williams botched it ph34r.gif unsure.gif
p.s. marry x-mas and happy new year

And a happy new year to you, too, sir. Thank you for the D-Con info!

And oh yeah - welcome back!

My problem with D-Con Radio One is that it's too long. I could write that song in 2:30, but it took the Features over 4:00. I'm glad they got over that problem as their carreer went on.

2:30? As a Minutemen fan, I could do it in 50 seconds flat.

Then you'd have to get rid of the "da da da, da da da da da" part, which would ruin the song.

Oh no, I could do it in 50 seconds with all the essential elements, including the "da da da"s.

Yes, I am that good.
