Good news indeed!

So Green Day are headlining a festival? Are they still relevant?

I don't see them on your signature, so I would say not.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

Probably as relevant as the Offspring.

This is great news! Thanks for confirming the rumors, Keith!

They're playing the Carling stage? Coincidence? I think not. I better leave that weekend open...

They're on the same stage as The Shins. Neat-O.

And it looks like they'll play with The Kills.

This looks like the greatest festival....ever.
That's so NA.

I'm sure I'm the only idiot who doesn't know, but where exactly is this at?

*edit. Ok, I guess its in London since Steve Lamacq will be there. Actually, I think the last (and only) time I was in London this was going on. I remember seeing the lineup plastered on a huge wall and wanting to go. It was during the summer as well. . .

One is in Reading (kind of between Bristol and London). The other is in Leeds (northeast of Manchester). They're put on by Carling, which also sponsors the English Premiere League (soccer).

not really, but apparently they are in the process of recording a "punk rock opera" for their next album....should be interesting.

Reading/Leeds festival is traditionally a ROCK! user posted image festival, which almost makes green day relevant.

I won't be there, as it's sold out.

But I will cross my fingers that they'll be back in London soon, seeing as they're in da area.

(Reading is in Berkshire, a county just outside London and very near Slough, The Office fans. Leeds is in Yorkshire. Although the Leeds festival isn't actually in Leeds anymore, but that's another story entirely)

you know.....i've come to this conclusion that before you amke it big...you have to play reading....its like a requirement.....i mean.....most of the biggest acts of the early 90's were headlining reading before they broke here in the states.....
We have about 1500 songs.....all of them good!

So, I take it from the website that this is actually 2 identical festivals (one in Reading and one that isn't actually in Leeds anymore according to Ladytron) that have a different rotation of days. Sounds kind of like the Nashville/Memphis/Atlanta festivals in may. This means that this is actually two gigs for The Features! They have yet to announce the Carling Stage rotation.

"Quote"
Over the past few years The Carling Stage has seen Franz Ferdinand, Keane, Muse, The Datsuns, The Polyphonic Spree, Interpol and Ash make their first appearances at the festival, building a undeniable reputation as the starting point for talent of the future.

That's right! So The Features will play twice.

(I was being flippant about Leeds... it relocated to a site a bit further away after riots a few years back).

For any music fan worth their salt, they would stay around the tents to catch the smaller bands, rather than park themselves outside the main stage all day! You might want to keep an eye on www.nme.com for reviews.

Yeah, don't you think that would be a little ego-centric?
