TOPIC: Finally...

The show tonight inspired me to update at long last... felt good converting so many songs from "extinct" to "special occasion," at least for this next year.

Other changes: Finally added Harder to Ignore (at last update it was called "Pants Getting Tighter") and I also added the new Don't Lie to Me and Love is Golden. Blow It Out, Bring on the Night, and Kari Anne have fallen out of regular rotation, but everyone else already knew that anyway.

I do have a question though: there was a "new song" at the Red Rose 8/4 and a "new song" at Rhythm and Brews in Chattanooga on 8/28. Were these the same new song? Were either of these Love is Golden or the new Don't Lie to Me? Are either of these totally new? Anyone know?

Thanks, and if you don't know the discography, you can find it here.

Support your interactive discography: send me a copy of this weekend's shows!

Will

Hi Will.

Thanks for all that you do.

While I cannot speak for the new song played at the Rhythm & Brews show, I am pretty sure that the one played at the Red Rose on August 4 was (at least a primitive version of) what you call "the new Don't Lie to Me" (ie the song played at the Inferno Bar). I'm about 90% sure about this, but Mr. Dawson could probably tell us for sure, since he records all of the shows now. But it definitely wasn't "Love is Golden."

By the way, we simply must come up with a new name for this "new Don't Lie to Me," as I shudder to think of the confusion that will ensue if we don't.

JC is right about the new song from the Red Rose and the Inferno Bar being one in the same. To my knowledge, last night was the first known live performance of "Love is Golden."

I'm going to go out on a limb then and assume that the Chattanooga "new song" is in fact the same one as well. Totally new songs rarely make their debut in Chatt-town.

This may be a very stupid question... but which song are we referring to as the new "Don't Lie to Me" exactly?

If it is what I think it is.... I lovingly refer to it as the "Woohoohoo Song" because all I can understand of it is "woohoohoo." To clarify, this was the newest song before "Love is Golden" and "failed attempt at a new song" debuted this weekend.

Yep... it was a stupid question... I knew it!

If it's the same song I'm thinking of, it didn't sound anything like "Don't Lie to Me" that I remember. I thought it was a cover initially since it was supposed to be a covers night. I guess the guys slacked off.

I heard Split Enz "I Got You" the other day for the first time in a few years and thought it would make a pretty good song for the Features to take a go at. There's no shame in doing covers, especially if you are established. It wouldn't be possible to think of the Features as a cover band.

i think the name "the new don't lie to me" comes from the fact that the only lyrics that in the song that you can make out are "don't lie to me," not because it's an updated version of the real "don't lie to me."

and i don't think the band just "slacked off" reguarding the covers. when explaining that they didn't have any covers to play, matt did say "i don't know where that came from." and i would imagine that relearning almost 15 old songs might have been keeping them quite busy as well.

Yes. You are correct.

This is exactly the reason I suggested we come up with a new title for this song, STAT.

I suggest "Electric Boogaloo" as the official title.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

I may just be hearing things, but at the Inferno Bar, I thought I heard the lyric "You've got a chemical head." I'm not sure if it was part of the song this past Saturday, though.

Good, nice to know I'm not alone in that. Sooooo...we could call it "Chemical Head: The OooOooOoOoOooo Song." Matt, are you getting the hint?
