Well, here it is at long last, rachel1808 and JustAnotherDrive and all of you other under-18 Features fans - an all ages show! I'm excited for you guys. Since it's so close to Christmas, maybe the Features will throw in a Christmas tune or two...
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Personally, I love it when bands do Christmas songs. Charlie Brown's "Christmastime Is Here" is a beautiful song...it would be awesome for the Features to do it. Or Frosty, Rudolph...all nice.

personally...i'd like to hear either "christmas wrapping" by the waitresses or "wonderful christmastime" by wings or "father christmas" by the kinks or "happy x-mas" by john lennon......

three years ago at the features and friends christmas show (which included self, fl oz, 2/3 of lifeboy, and others) this guy john baldwin, who some of you might know, did a cover of "wonderful christmastime." if memory serves correct, he played a yamaha synth and was flanked by rollum on drums and pelham on bass. it was cute. the features also did a kickass version of "father christmas" by the kinks. they should really do another one of those features and friends christmas shows. it was fantastic.
You know you have problems, with both money and alcohol, when you find yourself shoving beers down your pants outside a Features show.

I am very excited about this show. I'm also very happy for all of you who are under 18 that will finally get to see another show.

I would absolutely love to hear "Wonderful Christmastime" or "Happy X-Mas". "Christmastime is Here" would be wonderful, too. I'm sure there would be nothing like The Features doing a Christmas song to get me into the holiday spirit.
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

"Christmastime Is Here" is a wonderful song. R.E.M. did a really nice version of it. They also wrote a song called "Christmas Griping" that is freakin' hilarious. Michael Stipe talks about eating so many s'mores that he throws up!

I can't wait until December 1. I get to start listening to the Ella [Fitzgerald] Wishes You a Swinging Christmas CD that I bought in the summer. That's my kind of Christmas music!!!

From the 1999 Christmas show:
"Christmas Day is the only day that I've been looking forward to"

I am going to make negotiations to do whatever they want me to if I can just be off that day and the day after. I really want to see this Christmas show, since it will be my first. And, I have heard great things about the Red Rose (from a certain damon...), so that makes me even more intent on getting my ass to that show.

Did The Features LIE TO US?!? Didn't their last E-mail say that there would be no more Murfreesboro shows this year?

I may have to skip that one and hold out hope on a repeat of last year's NYE line-up, which would be interesting now that The Features have quite a larger following than last year and Joe, Marc's Brother barely exists anymore. I'm curious to see how they would work that out.

By the way, I'm not trying to start a rumor of a JMB/Features show, just wishful thinking really.
I TOTALLY AGREE!

Personally, I hope this doesn't happen for two reasons: 1) The Features deserve to HEADLINE a show on NYE (if that's how they choose to spend the holiday). 2) Not only do I feel that they're the best band around, but I also find JMB highly overrated. I went to this NYE show last year at 12th and Porter but left after seeing The Features. 12 bucks for 40 minutes but worth every minute!

i am so excited about this red rose show. i can finally invite friends of all ages to see the magic that is a features show. and this also gives old/potential hometown fans that may have gone away to colleges located in places where they might not get to see them play, a chance to do exactly that while they're at home for break. thanks alot to whoever booked this show, it's the best christmas present a girl could ask for... smile.gif

Maybe if you watched the band you wouldn't find them overrated. JMB is one of my favorite bands ever. That said, their last two shows (including the NYE show you didn't watch) weren't very good. But when they are on their game, I don't know if there is a band I would rather see.

I don't suppose there's any chance they'll play outside, is there? I know it would be tough on the band, but I think it'd be fun to snuggle up under a blanket with some hot chocolate while watching the Features rock out.

well, it's just that all the shows i've see at the red rose have been in the main cafe area on that little stage. but the last show i saw, a few days ago, was in that newer back room they opened. i guess i haven't seen enough shows at the red rose to know where the bands always play.

This is true, HaveSomeSoma. They do not always play at one specific area. I was assuming that they would play in the front, but of course my guess is only as good as yours; however, since they did open up the back room again, they may play there. Who knows.

Oh, by the way, your avitar is great. This once again proves my theory that Germans love David Hasselhoff...well, actually it doesn't, I just say that whenever the opportunity arises.

I think that you just might get to hear "Father Christmas," Ray. As for the McCartney tune, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Jamie Carroll will be there, if he's still alive on Friday.

I don't know you, so I don't have an opinion either way. You DO seem to be a Features fan, so you can't be all that bad.

I hope to be there around 9:45pm if anyone still cares. I'm going to try to catch the opener because I think a friend of mine might be playing bass. I might be able to hook up a carpool with sinasugarsick and possibly JC. The mysterious Lauren tells me she'll be there, too. Maybe a little later, though.
