TOPIC: If the Features toured with Pere Ubu...

I wonder if they've been contacted about possibly opening for the upcoming Rocket from the Tombs (Pere Ubu and Dead Boys members) show at the Exit-In on 12/17? It would be an odd fit but there's already something of a past working relationship there.

my dear ray, you know that when the rock music starts you can't help but recite a few lucky guns' lyrics.
We'll miss you Mr. Hooper.

That makes more sense to me. I think Meeks and Daigle know what they're doing. Of course, Daigle can do no wrong. All hail Daigle!

i know, damon. im still indifferent about the lucky guns. they are very entertaining, but i still cant take them seriously. i would just prefer it if they just stuck to the rock songs and laid off their "ballads".

I heard that Turtleneck and the Sweats were opening this show, as well as a couple of others for RFtT. But what do I know?

Trust me, the Lucky Guns are not opening this show.

The support act is Turtleneck and the Sweats, an avant-garde/absurdist outfit featuring Chris Davis, a Nashville Scene staff writer and local noise artist, and the drummer (can't remember his name) from Cheetah Chrome's band.

There is just something funny about that phrase. It sounds like half of an Onion headline.

That makes sense. I'm pretty sure Cheetah's drummer is named Matt. He plays lead guitar and sings for Turtleneck.

Hah, are we speculating on who the Features will tour with now? How about My Morning Jacket? Well, at least for one show.

Nice "speculation" there, webmaster. This is pretty cool news.

Which is closer to Murfreesboro, Memphis or Knoxville? I'm thinking it's going to be Knoxville....but maybe not.

Thank you, sir.

But now the question is this: be busy and tired and go to both shows, drive a longer distance to see a show where there will be less people, or drive a shorter distance to a place where there will be more people, but another pretty good band as well? Oh, my little head....

By the way, I stared at your blue avatar for at least a minute when you first put it up before I figured out it was a X-mas light....I thought it was some kind of light saber or diseased penis. rolleyes.gif Silly me.

While it is really cool to see the Features with only a dozen people in the audience, I would recommend the Knoxville show. Long drives suck and can make the overall concert experience less enjoyable. Blue Cats is a really great venue, and having a nice opening band puts the icing on the cake. After the show, I would go to Tom Foolery's apartment to drink hot chocolate (with marshmallows!) and watch movies.

Mindylieu, are you living in Knoxville now, or are you just driving down for the show?

For the record: Although I've been tempted to make very vulgar/perverted avatars, I've vowed that I will use good taste in my icon selection. So if you ever think my avatar looks perverted, you should probably take another look. smile.gif

In the case of the Blue Cats show, the Features are the cool opening band.

By the way, TF, did you move to Knoxville, or do you just keep an apartment there for your liaisons?

Really? OK, that changes the equation considerably. From Murfreesboro, it's 180 miles to Knoxville and 250 to Memphis. (Screw this guess-timating crap. I looked it up.) So that's an extra two hours of driving. However, you'll get to see the Features do a full set instead of an abbreviated, opening set. I think I'd choose Memphis.

I guess I should clarify: After going to the show, whether you go to Memphis or Knoxville, you should stop by my apartment when you return to Middle Tennessee. I grew up near Knoxville, but I don't plan to return there.

I am currently living here during my transitional year. This time next year I hope to be in the middle of the state in graduate school. I grew up here most of my life as well. What school did you go to?

I was listening to the radio today and when they mentioned the blue cats show they said "with very very special guests, the features." I thought that was cool. I need to send them a cd because when I requested the features recently they said they wanted to play them but didn't have any of their music.

By the way, I thought it was a fancy blue vibrator! hehe.
