Does anyone know where exactly this place is located or what time they are going on? I tried the website but it wasn't very helpful.

Probably cause the website on the show page is wrong. The proper website is www.lexarts.org/artsplace.html

However, that's not really informative either. Try here.

This venue is actually a large yoga studio. You'll have to take off your shoes to go inside.
Relevant: Prince, PT Anderson, Punk, Post-Punk, Purple, Party of Five, Peter Swanson, Peter Gabriel-led Genesis, "Peter Panic", Paul's Boutique, Potential Energy, Every Features MB member but me.

Okay so I guess that means no ones going. Well when I said I wasnt gonna miss anymore shows I meant it lol. I'm driving up Thursday to go see them and I'm really psyched! biggrin.gif

Oh, and I got the pictures back. The one with Matt is pretty good, I'll try to post it. But the one with Rollum, I am completley cut out of! I'm not too happy with the lady who offered to take that one...

Rachel, get there early. The Features are opening. The link in this thread says 7:30 for doors open, I'm assuming, but don't plan for the usual extremely late night start you normally get when the Features open.

Ray Davies and I want to go, but we're not sure if we will. Maybe...maybe we'll see you there, Rachel. If so, we will say "hello".
But what will happen to the boy when the circus comes to town?

No drinks or smokes either. Count me out. It's a shame, I've never been to Lexington before. I have to work Friday anyway.

Well, I called to preorder the tickets to insure that I dont drive (grr.. ride) 3 hours only for it to be sold out, and they didn't list the Spoon/Crooked Fingers/Features show as one that I could preorder tickets for, when on the website it says I can. BrianW, do you have any idea if I should be freaked out or do you think the chance of it selling out is slim?

So is Rachel the only one planning on being there? Ray davies, if you're planning on going we should definitely meet up at the show. I'll be there with a couple of my friends and hopefully it will be a good turnout.

I'm getting really psyched about this event since it's on my (almost) hometurf.

Track List:

1) The Beginning
2) A Million Ways to Sing The Blues
3) See You Through
4) Circus
5) Leave It All Behind
6) Walking On The Moon
7) Look Out Below
8) God Save Rock And Roll
9) Thursday

Note:
Upon consultation with Rays Davies, it was brought to my attention that Walking On The Moon might be Walk You Home. I could have sworn that they had said "Walking On The Moon," but maybe I misheard them. Either way, I'm not familiar with either of those song titles. Unless you're referring to Walking On The Moon by The Police.

Highlights of the night:

- The harmonics solo during Circus
- Hearing "Million Ways to Sing The Blues" for the first time
- The bewildered look on people's faces when I announced that I was only there to see the Features and was leaving shortly after they were finished
- Getting to talk to Rollum for a few minutes
- Buying a Buffalo Head t-shirt to espouse my fandom for all to see at work on casual friday
- God Save Rock And Roll, indeed living up to the name
- Thursday as an excellent closer

The only downer I could think of was that I was so self-conscious about people staring at me while I sang along that I had to stand in the back. :-/ That's my own fault, however.

Overall, the show was excellent, as is the norm for a Features show. The crowd seemed, although unfamiliar, very receptive and lively. The band seemed very energetic and very on during the entire set. I was sad to see only nine songs played, but they had to end their set at some point. I would have liked to have heard Excorcising Demons, Dark Room or Blow It Out., but I'm just very glad that I could make this show.

I also got a few pictures here. I'm not a photographer, so please don't laugh. Just thought I'd share what I got. smile.gif

Update:

Damon's friend is not a feature, despite popular belief.

Also, the sixth song of the night was indeed Walk You Home after much deliberation and introspection.

Artsplace is not a yoga studio. It is a multi-use arts building downtown which has dance studios, art galleries, classrooms, and a large open-floor performance area which Artsplace rents out to WRFL dirt cheap for rock shows.

I believe jamiecarroll was thinking of the Mecca dance studio (where they have tried to have music shows before). This space does not allow people to wear street shoes on their dance floors, but I do not know their position on yoga. I have never gone to a show there.

The acoustics are actually great at Artsplace, and, contrary to what has been posted earlier, you can wear shoes inside. It is true that you have to smoke outside (oh, darn!) and they can't sell alcohol. On the plus side, this makes it an all-ages venue. There were lots of very nice young women in attendance (just looking!). For those of you who can't enjoy a good rock show unless you're somewhat impaired, there are about a dozen bars nearby (all playing crappy music and many filled to the gills with fratboys).

As for the Features, they were great. They were half an hour late, and they came within about two minutes of getting cut from the bill. As usual, it took about 25 minutes for them to get set up. My feeling is: if they are only going to play an 8-song set, Matt could get by with just one guitar, and the keyboard hardware could be cut down a bit too. Either that, or these guys need to fire-drill nonstop until they can set up and take down in less than 5 minutes.

Spoon was awesome. Never saw or heard them before, but they were just great. And they played 'Situations Vacant' by the Kinks toward the end of their set!
